I think you are mixing that up with the story of
“The Three Little Pigs”
who all responded to the big bad wolf,
“…not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!”
when he demanded they let him in. 😊
What I’m talking about is an expression/ term for something dogs do to goats.
Don’t you remember Proctor ‘bearding’ Roy, in R.I.P.D.?

Oh, that's so interesting! Thank you for the explanation. I love western movies, so I can perfectly picture the wagons into a circle and the pioneers preparing themselves for an attack! 
In Spanish we say "estar con la escopeta cargada" (having the shotgun loaded) to refer to a defensive attitude, above all when there's no reason for it. I guess it has to do with hunting. Thank you!

(That’s not verbatim I’m sure. Been a long time since I read that book.)

and
”riding shot gun”
which means ‘riding next to the driver in the front seat of a car’.
‘Calling shot gun’
or
‘I’ve got shot gun’
said when there are more than 2 passengers riding in a car.
All that comes from the old west stage coach days.
The driver almost always had a partner with a shotgun riding next to him. To cover them if they were under attack.
More than likely you’re already familiar with those things. 🙂 |
