I’ve only known the term to mean guy who tries to steal another guy’s girl by telling her how bad her man is. An act usually followed up by the term...

osnafrank are you referring t this word found in Wastelands? Explanation may contain spoilers.
in: The Dark Tower Characters, The Red, Residents of Lud, and 2 more Gasher
Gasher
Gasher is a member of the Grays, whose leader is Andrew Quick. He is in the final stages of a disease called mandrus or the "whore blossoms".
Appearance and Personality When he appeares for Roland's ka-tet in the decaying bridge of River Send, he is wearing a yellow scarf in his head, big earrings. One of his eyes is covered by a bandage, and he has many purple bruises in his face.
He is a mean, unscrupulous man who has nothing left to lose. It is possible he was homosexual as he had a former lover called Hoots.
Role in the Dark Tower Series The Waste Lands He manages to sneak up on the ka-tet as they are crossing the bridge into Lud. Threatening to explode a grenade, he kidnaps Jake. He runs through the city towards Quick's underground base. He becomes abusive when Jake slows down.
When he reaches Quick's base, he is unable to remember the password and unable to read it on the paper given to him. He has Jake read it to enter the base. After Roland Deschain's arrival with Oy, Gasher is shot in the ensuing struggle.

Thankee spideyman and diobolic

Thanks - I didn't know the meaning of Gasher either Frank!
I know - this seems random but I actually looked this up in Google translate - German seems to be quite a difficult language (at least to me!)

What does "by a two by four" mean ? "...feeling as we have been hit square in the chops by a two by four" A two by four is a big piece of wood used in building
It's 2 inches by 4 inches in size
I think they come in 8 foot lengths

What does "by a two by four" mean ? "...feeling as we have been hit square in the chops by a two by four" English is a weird and confusing language sometimes. A two-by-four is a wooden beam that measures 2 inches by 4 inches....I've never been hit with one, but it's an expression that refers to getting clobbered with something that would really hurt and do some damage. You don't ever want to get hit square in the chops with one of these!

Ah great minds think alike. When were kids, my cousins would say this rhyme:"Fatty fatty two by four couldn't fit through the bathroom door", which seemed dumb to me because a 2 by 4 looks pretty skinny.

I'm happy for this lady, even though we have never met - her story is inspiring

Hi, spideyman, neesy, @osnafrank, wolf, @notaro and everyone.
I have a new question referring to a sentence I don't quite understand. I think I know the meaning of the words, but I'm not sure if I get the real sense.
The sentence is: "She was mechanically emptying the wickerwork toilet-tidy out of the window."
According to the dictionaries and the Google images, a wickerwork toilet-tidy is a sort of basket you may have in the toilet for different purposes. Is that right? But, is she really throwing the contents out of the window?
I really could use some thoughts . Thank you!

I really could use some thoughts . Thank you! Hello Gelata!
"She was MECHANICALLY emptying the wickerwork toliet-tidy out of the window."
....that adjective tells me there might have been something off or wrong with her, that was the cause for her to be doing something that doesn't make sense, ordinarily. Sounds like the object in question is like a wicker caddy/tray of some sort, and might contain things like (for example) combs, and hairclips or a container of dental floss...etc....
I might be all wrong about it, but that's what I'm getting from it. Like she was running in a weird 'autopilot' or robot like state.
I'm sure the other's here will be more help! Good to see you Gelata 😊

I really could use some thoughts . Thank you! Hi Gelata. That is from Appius and Virginia. I think the clue to your question is the first part-- "while she thought". Thus she was mechanically-- without thinking about her actions of organizing( what she was actually doing) , but rather about hiring a tutor for Appius. She is tidying the dressing table, shaking the lace mats, and then, since she is deep in thought about the tutor, she mechanically-not realizing --empties the wickerwork toilet tidy basket out the window. Then continues to polish the plated pin tray on the back of her hand. All thoughts are on finding a possible tutor. Yes, she probably did throw whatever was in in basket out the window.
