There`s a reunion for former students at my old school tomorrow. It`s not a class reunion, every former student can come to this and also everyone else.
Don`t know if i go there, the school is just across the streets.
You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming to a school reunion, very few good memories from my school days. Same here. I was a loner most of the time. Grunge clothes, usually nose stuck in a book. I was rebellious and constantly skipping class or getting sent to the principal. heh

There was a movie released a couple of years ago called Sing Street, a musical set in the school Synge Street, I got about 20 minutes into it and I had to get up and leave the room, couldn't watch it as I could feel the anger bubbling up inside, 40 years on and the place still has an effect on me.

Yeah, that makes me angry, too. Every individual who turns others away from Christ instead of being an example which draws others to Christ will have to answer to God one day. I tremble at that prospect on their behalf. As a Christian (who isn't perfect, and who has done plenty wrong), I try to just be real and open and honest. I know you aren't a believer and I genuinely respect you and your perspective. I can see how such a school may have made a negative impact on you. I'm sorry that was your experience, but I hope you know there are good Christians who love the Lord and love helping people (even complete strangers): feeding the hungry, charity, sheltering the homeless, et cetera. I assume your father-in-law is "one of the good ones".

Apologies for my outburst, I have my demons and they raise their heads occasionally. I respect and appreciate any who find joy, comfort and fulfillment in any religion, for myself I lapsed after my mom and sister passed, what I normally say is yes I believe in God but we had a falling out and we're just not talking at this point.

Yeah, I agree with Wolf...no apologies needed. Your anger was justified, IMO.

Don't feel bad - sometimes we just need to vent
I was sent to a Catholic school when I was young (up until grade 8) - nuns in black habits and had to wear a school uniform;
It seems the girls had it easier than the boys back then as I only remember the boys getting "the strap" and not the girls; pretty sure my older brother was the victim of this type of cruelty back then.
So (not to change the subject or anything) but on the topic of "What did you do today" I think I will go visit the squirrels in the park today.
Kildonan Park is only about 1.5 km from my house and I need the exercise.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
That school I mentioned was called "Holy Name" in Toronto - I wonder if it still stands?

Got my nails done today. Hot pink! Then went to a place that has old fashioned Christmas candy, and bought some of that. Then had Chinese for lunch.

Just in the door, dropped my daughter into work for 9.30 then the wife and I headed up to Dundrum Shopping Centre, got there just before 10am, place was pretty empty, which was cool, I hit the charity shops and later met up with the wife for a coffee, by 12.30 the place was getting pretty packed so we decided to call it a day and head home. I'll head down to the supermarket shortly and get the makings of a dinner in. But first, a mug of tea.

Yesterday was a busy day for me - saw Doctor Sleep at the movie theatre, went to Tai Chi in the morning and bought ingredients to make Sweet and Sour Pork with Peppers (served over rice).
I cooked that in the slow cooker on low for hours and it turned out nice and tender.

Trying to find a good recipe for spare ribs (I wonder if they can be cooked in the slow cooker?) - or maybe I will do them in the oven
