Another thread that was sort of popular over at SKMB, so I thought I would start it!

Yesterday I did nothing, and I wasn't finished, so I continued it today.

I made Bannock this morning and put old cheddar cheese in it and some basil (that I grew myself) in it. The recipe made 10 big ones and a tiny one. Finally a good recipe! Asked First Nations friends how to make it, but they don't measure ingredients -- a handful of this, a bit of that, etc. Anyways my measured Bannock turned out great.

I don't know what that is, Alexabdra, but I'm sure it is delicious if it is a First Nations recipe.
Do you know how to do frybread?

Its a very basic thing. The stuff I have had from First Nations friends is much more dense then mine. The bannock I make is much lighter almost like a big dinner roll. Emphasis on BIG. Sometimes I put walnuts in it and then make maple icing to frost the bannock. You can add anything. First Nations roll it in a sugar and cinnamon mix while it is still warm. Its such a basic recipe that it doesn't even use eggs, you mix it with water. Its a nice alternative to bread.

I still haven't made it to the pharmacy at the end of my street to drop off some prescriptions (so I may sign off soon)
They close at 6 my time.
Have a good one!

Well today I went Value Village, haven't been there in about 2 years. They had a small selection of HC's. There was a Desperation, Dolores Claibourne and Misery. None were first editions so I left them there. Thousands of paperbacks there. All books are now $4.95 each and buy 4, get 1 free. So I came home with a new dress and some towels.
The towels were brand new. We walked up the street to have a look at a new Thrift store that just opened. Really nice store -- very clean and well organized and staff with a smile. The prices were excellent too. Very small selection of books but will need some time to build up stock I think. All in all it was a good day. (I LOVE the dress).

Around 9:45 I decided to pop out to the store to pick up paper towels and Tassimo coffee pods. After gathering up a bunch of stuff I went to the till and when she asked me for my PC points card that is when I realized I didn't have my keys.
I have a little thing on my car keys that they scan to keep track of points at Shopper's Drug Mart. So I asked her to hold my stuff behind the counter and started looking for my keys. Finally I decided they must still be in the car somehow or other.
I was on the phone with Andy just before I went into the store and he was upset about something which caused me to feel the same.
After calling CAA and waiting for them to show up, the guy got my door open and there they were - they had slipped down in front of the driver's seat and were on the floor. Thank goodness I have a CAA membership.
Andy says he is not pleased with how things are going up North since the new company took over. They are a big corporation and want him to make more convenience type foods that really don't require any skill to prepare.
He says that is not cooking - heating up premade food. His loyal customers are not coming around like they used to and he says he cannot live like that. I can't remember exactly how he put it, but he is really starting to get p*ssed off.

I'm relieved you found your keys, but that's too bad about Andy. What are his options?

I don't know - the company wanted to know why the Nunamiut Lodge was so successful, then they pull something stupid like this. He says he has a reputation to uphold and he is very frustrated.

Would he be able to retire if necessary? If he isn't on the same page as the new owners...

I am waiting for a guy to deliver my 4 prong cane, and my raised toilet seat with handles. My hospice nurse ordered these because they are scared of me falling again. On my chart, they have 'fall risk'.
When I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I have to use my cane, because I feel wobbly.

Plus next year he wants to go to Scotland for a vacation and while he is there he wants to look into collecting a pension from the British military as he was in for 15 years.
He wants to find out if they can send it to him in Canada now that he is both a Scottish citizen and a Canadian citizen.
I just know he is very frustrated and tired of all the bullsh*t.
This Arctic Cooperative is a big company and I think they are losing sight of their priorities - maybe they really couldn't care less if the food is good or not, as long as they continue to make money. Apparently they have 22 other interests up North, most dealing with food.
So it is as if McDonald's corporation has moved in to take over a small Mom 'n Pop type establishment.

My nurse gave me pills for the itching, and last night, I slept pretty good.I am supposed to take them every 6 hours, but I don't because they make me sleepy.
I took one about 9 this morning, and have been sleeping on, and off ever since.
