I had a subpar day. Barely slept last night and had to work two jobs today. Felt completely discombobulated and somewhat sick. But my mom had a decent day and the critters are okay, so I'm focusing on the positives. Which always reminds me of spideyman ! I was able to get a couple homeopathic pain remedies for my mom for free for doing some work in exchange. She felt a little relief and for that I am grateful as well.
Praying you all sleep soundly. Not sure how long I will be awake.
So nice to hear from you hollygolightly - I miss you a lot.
Big hugs to you all! ((((((morgan and mom))))))

Hello Friends!! Gosh I've missed you all!
@dio'bolic yer in trouble (mental condition). You better hide. I'll see your chipmunk problem and raise you a murder of crows. It started with the squirrels. The squirrels were eating the bird seed and I wanted them gone. Plus they drive the dogs nuts. The dogs watch them from the window all day long and scramble to get out the door to chase them. So the Orge got the squirrels some peanuts hoping they'd leave the birdseed alone. But someone told the crows that the man growing all the sunflowers just started throwing peanuts in the yard. So now we've got 5 crows here daily - eating peanuts. I kind of like them but they are huge. And noisy. Did I tell you about TC Boyle's short story that had a genetically bred bird that was a cross between a crow and a parrot? OMG, they were foul and funny.
Mental condition…. ME? Pshaw on the crows. I’ve got a million of them. They come in gangs to chase off the other birds and empty the bird feeders. All the colorful. singing and happy birds are gone. Now I’ve only got a band of black evil in the yard. Crows, red-winged blackbirds, grackles, brown-headed cowbirds and starlings. Only blue jays and sparrows are brave enough now to try and get an occasional bite before being driven off. Throw in a bunch of squirrels and chipmunks and our lovely feeders have become Hell’s Kitchen. Even the wife has said it might be time to fire up the old bb gun (don't worry... little kid's low power bb gun... no accuracy, more to just scare them off). BhGrQfSejRVyTeGJUqvh ........that pics hilarious Dio. Good morning.

I'm just lucky I guess, we all kinds of birds around all the time. Pairs of Doves, blue jays, cardinals, mocking birds, black birds and grackles, purple martins little sparrows, a few other types of small birds I don't know the name of. Sometimes a woodpecker comes through, and a few crows now and then. Plenty oscars too of course, they all get along. There's a creek close to here, sometimes we see possums, racoons, rabbits and turtles. But not too often, they like to stay down in the brush, unless the rains cause the creek to rise to bridge level. We have had a pair of beautiful hawks too. Always keep a close eye on the cats when they're outside. Driving home from school one day with my son, we turned onto our street, and right there by the curb was one of the hawks, dining on a squirrel. Seen him come flying down low right under the trees.

Oscars? I wondered the same thing myself
So far today I have repotted three Dahlias that we bought on sale at Save On Foods (regular 3.99 each but they were looking pathetic so I got them for 1.99 each)
They look better already. (Put them in a much bigger pot with Miracle Gro potting soil).
I also went through my poor little basil seedlings and noted that out of 24 pots I only got 12 measly plants.
Plus I mixed up the little sticks that had their names on them so I don't know which one is Italian basil and which is Lime basil.
I at least kept the cinnamon basil separate - I got three survivors of that type.
Happy Monday!

......right now.....taking care of business, like gunslinger. Sumthin's come up. Everyone, I bid thee Bon Soire. From here. Well, I got that little dilemma taken care of. My boy came storming in through the front door yesterday evening, madder than all a hell. He'd been out working with his dad all day, and they were both hot and tired and started getting on each others nerves. Bad enough that it got MY attention. Got the whole story out of the boy and settled his butt down and told him what he'd done that was unreasonable. Then I got on the phone and straightened his old man out. He was definitely being the bigger horse's a*s. Still got a thing or two to teach my cub, even as all grown up as he is.

Me and my kid have been calling the squirrels the "oscars" since he was in 1st grade. I was writing about it, in my thread on the SKMB.
