Hi Frank - any plans for your long weekend?
Hey, neesy
Going to cook Goulash tomorrow, and maybe take a walk on Sunday. I hope the weather holds up, so i can visit a swap meet on Monday. Good to hear they decided to repair your car. Hope it doesn't get too pricey. I've heard that Jeeps are expensive to maintain.
Wishing you and yours a peaceful weekend. Hi Frank - since May 19th is apparently World Baking Day I made some Rice Krispie squares (there's actually no baking involved with these) - I just felt like making something crunchy and sweet when I got up today
Hope your long weekend is going well!

Yesterday and today are planting days. Yesterday was petunias and coleus today is iris and caladium. Sounds lovely - all I have at present are four little cherry tomato plants on the deck (they need to go in bigger pots) and one Greek oregano plant - there is something coming back out there by the fence - it's either something called Veronica speedwell or it could be phlox, plus I noticed the yarrow is also making a comeback.

Friday night or Saturday morning something attacked our birdhouses. The sparrow mums and dads are homeless, the chirpy chicks were stolen and probably eaten. Idk what did the job here, but the prepatrator was thorough. Husband took down what was left of the birdhouses and built replacements! I've painted them and he'll hang them today.

Well, we’re going to have a lot more rain.
It’s going to be awhile before everything dries out enough so the Ex can get the chainsaw out.
Poor boy, he’s got a lot of tree limbs in the back yard and alley to cut up and get hauled out of there, and put out on the front curbside for the city to pick up.
And it is muddy out back too, after all that hard packed ground was dug up and filled back in when the plumbers were replacing the cast iron pipe.
He did go out there on Tues. and pull down some branches that were hanging on the power line. He leg sank in over ankle deep.
I’m hoping code enforcement is going to be reasonable and give EVERYONE the extra time we will all need to get this all done. I’m sure they will. So many all over the city are dealing with this kind of thing after the storm the other night.
My kid will come and help him as soon as he can too, he’ll be tired from his work days. I feel sorry for him, and I wish I could help them both, like I used to. 💔
Man, they are both going to be really busy at their work places, over this as well.
Always sad for other people’s misfortunes when storms roll through and cause damage, but our electrician’s will be getting a lot of work.
Many people have had their electrical service’s taken out, and they will have to be replaced, and in some cases upgraded. Especially here in our older part of town, where almost all the homes have overhead services. Newer developments are all underground.
”Electrical Service” meaning the meter bases, and all other equipment and materials on the outside of the houses, that are the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain and pay for. Not anything on the city, or power company’s end.
It’s sad for those who don’t know the difference, and when they call the utilities guys out, because they lose power for any reason, and get told,
“Sorry, we can’t do anything about that. You’re going to have to call an electrician.”
The last time we had this much storm damage and debris, was back in 2019, when we had 9 + twisters tear across North Dallas and the cities bordering it.
Raining buckets right now, but it’s a good day. All the kitties are content and doing their ‘rainy day napping’, lol. They’re really tired. All that sleeping is very hard work, as gran used to say. 😄
I hope everyone is having a nice day. 😊

We never found out what did it. Sparrows have started moving into the pink house. They are tough birds, resilient and persistent.

Today I took Josh for a dental hygiene appointment then off to the Manitoba Public Insurance place so he could get a new ID card - his old one expired on June 16th.
Andy made some kind of East Indian type dish with chicken - I think it might be Chicken Tikka Masala.
He doesn't cook very often lately so I guess he is having a good day

Guess I haven't been in this thread for a wee while.
Planning on going with Josh to the grocery store later. I got my Jeep Liberty back! Yay!
I am appreciating my vehicle so much more now that I have had a chance to look around and see what's available out there - the prices are extremely over-inflated even since 2020 when they had that microchip shortage.

I just did a load of laundry plus I was out back watering my plants - I got a whole bunch of them on Monday from the No Frills store - it was the end of the season and they looked a bit pathetic
They were all half price - I have been giving them water and fertilizer plus a bit of sunshine on my back deck so they are perking up
