Girl, I own this clock. Hangs in my kitchen. One of the original antique ones from the 50s. Weird huh?
Oh worked auction from 9 to 6:30 yesterday...
Back at it again this morning from 9 until??? That's pretty cool! They also had a clock like this in the book "Bag of Bones"
So - no rest for the wicked, eh? (I mean you, of course!)
Today I went shopping quite early in the morning and got all the fixins (is that what Southern people call ingredients?) for a nice Irish stew.
Even bought leg of lamb rather than beef, as according to hubby, traditional Irish stew is made with that.
f070
Might make some corn bread or corn muffins to go with it but the recipe calls for one jalapeno so will probably put that in only half of the recipe and leave one half plain.
I was wondering - do you put cheddar cheese in your biscuits or muffins?

Finishing up on client letters to mail. I have two more items to total up before calling the accountant for the tax prep, so I'll probably make that appointment this afternoon. Preparing for another arctic episode with old man winter......I refuse to be defeated! Other than that, I'm gonna drink me some cherry coke and watch some Netflix.

I signed up. Since that other board is closed more than it's opened I guess I'll put my stupid rants here during the down times. Since last Thursday there has been a bitter battle between DiO and Deer. Background: several years ago I cut down an apple tree whose roots had extended into the drain field of my septic system. That left one apple tree standing on my property. It takes two apples trees for cross-pollination and to produce fruit. Obviously a neighbor in the area had an apple tree as my remaining tree kept producing many hundreds of apples. That neighbor’s apple tree must have been cut down last spring as my tree produced less than a handful of apples this past year. I don’t eat the apples and let the next door neighbor take as many as he wants because his wife loves them in the pies she bakes. The rest I let fall to the ground in late Fall to feed the whitetail deer in the harsh winter months. (The neighbor has his own battle going on with gray herons. He built a small wildlife area on his property and put in an artificial stream and a couple of small ponds that he stocked with exotic koi. The heron keep eating them. But he foolishly registered that section of his property as a wildlife refuge, or something, and therefore cannot legally do anything to discourage the heron, except for getting a dog... but I digress). Without their apple offerings, the deer this year have decided to jump the fence that I have in part of the backyard, and where a couple of bird feeders are located. The snow gives the deer’s hoof prints away. It’s bad enough a cabal of a half-dozen fearless squirrels (gray and red) consider the bird feeders their own, but I can deal with them and just up the amount of sunflower seeds in my super secret special birdseed mix. The deer are another matter as they empty the feeders overnight. In an attempt to commune with nature (roll eyes) I purchased about 200 pounds of deer corn in bags yesterday and 2 salt licks. I turned on my trail cam to see if the plan will work (I’ll check out the camera next weekend). Last year I got a cool picture of a deer and rabbit squaring off. This morning there was still birdseed in the feeders so maybe we’ve come to an agreement. I plan on putting about 25 pounds of corn out every 3-4 days. The wife says I should plant another apple tree on the property but I told her that would take about 3 to 4 years to become effective. I planted 2 plum trees and 2 pear trees a couple of years ago and they still haven’t flowered. Hopefully the corn and salt will do the trick, otherwise it will be a low-powered BB gun to the a$$ in an all-night covert operation to help them understand boundaries. And if that fails they should be warned a really nice sale on a Savage Axis .308 with scope caught my eye when I was buying the corn and salt. Jerky…. Yummmmm. VWKKFduRFHVMhHXyDqLu

Would it be possible to remove a fruit baring tree and transplant to you property? Hopefully, the deer corn will be the answer. Wildlife are having a ruff winter too. How goes the mailbox?

Wildlife are having a ruff winter too. How goes the mailbox? No apple orchard nearby that I know of... or maybe the bees are too lazy to travel very far. I guess I could look into finding a dwarf apple tree that's already flowering come springtime. Mailbox is still standing. Heard a crash the other night... drunk skiers must have taken out someone else's mailbox.

I didn't know that about the cross pollination thing; Andy cut down the apple tree in our back yard and since then the apple tree out front has survived, but not sure if there is as much fruit or not. Maybe someone in our neighborhood has an apple tree as well. khi3f
We don't eat our apples either but the squirrels and larger birds enjoy them.

I'm just getting ready to go see that dermatologist again. I was supposed to go last Friday but I was a bit confused (or something).
I left the house carrying a bag with odds and ends in it, including my iPad and was about maybe a mile or so away when it occurred to me that I didn't have my purse with me.
I had to pull over and phone them, then reschedule.
My excuse (to myself) was that after three days of being trapped inside the house due to extreme cold I was a bit fuzzy headed B0QqBYzXPBBWUeYwSIrI
The roads are pretty bad out there - quite slick with lots of frozen ridges.
Well - I better get cracking!
Hope everyone is doing well, no matter what the weather is where you live
Love and Green Lights to everyone smilie_winke_012

Went to get a pair of prescription sunglasses for driving and that were shock resistant for eye protection when working with power tools. An extra $400 for progressive lenses (‘no-line’ lenses) because I need bifocals. I told them give me the damn lines for that price!

Typical Saturday-- grocery and critter feed shopping. Since the weather has been so nice possibly do yard work-- start picking up all those twigs and branches.

I'm wrapped in a cocoon of blankets right now. The temps dropped overnight. It is sunny but won't be warm again until Monday. The daffodils have bloomed and dandelions pock the green ditches in a rash of yellow. The Japanese Quince bush is the only flowering plant which blooms in my backyard; reddish pink like drops of paint on long prostrate wicker tentacles. It's really dramatic after fresh snowfall.
Today, I'm going to unplug the stove so I can put in the new heating element. You guys know I'm jones-ing for some cornbread after not being able to use oven for two months.
I'll probably stay indoors and read or watch Netflix.

Mmmmm - corn bread sounds good!
Haven't done much yet today - I did attempt to fry some pickles Sundrop (thanks) a054
Now I have to go out to buy some foodstuffs (I like that word 'foodstuffs') Just got out of a late shower and now have to 'don some apparel' lol
What is going on? Maybe after reading Doc's post in Random Thoughts about Dickens I am thinking this way (old fashioned language)

Yeah, this site cannot distinguish between a curse word and the same sequence of letters when they appear in a larger non-curse word. LOL
Let me see if it still does it. d**kens.

Finally figured out how to access my account to get lab results. I am immune to measles. (Wanted checked because I have no memory of ever being in contact with, and at most had one vaccine.)
dr decided to run a few other tests as well, and I am now showing as “at risk” for diabetes.
