I was gonna see that Jennifer Lopez movie Second Act because I thought it was like Working Girl. Then I found out it was about an uneducated woman who lies about her qualifications to get a better job. This film values street smarts over book smarts. It's a slap in the face to people like me who have one or more college degrees. Sounds a lot like her acting career. Next year I’m going to have to start looking for a job. I have not worked in 30+ years. And I do not look like JLo. I’m already feeling depressed. annamarie - prayers/good vibes/positive thoughts for you, love! What kind of work are you heading into? I'm so sick of working I just want to stomp my feet and quit. But I've got at least 5 more years, maybe 10 - I guess it depends on when the grandkids start coming. I'm thinking of you. You're so talented! @wayoftheredpanda Supercool!! Like wild cats - the scary kind? I love seeing them - they look so timid. pegasus216 - I hope you are having a lovely rest, doll. Report back and let us know how it went! @administrator (Frank!!) what's going on that it looks like Armageddon at the market? Snow? Just New Year's fixin's? We went to the grocery store today and stocked up through New Years. I'm hoping to not leave the house until Jan 2nd. Well -there's Mass tomorrow and Tuesday, but other than Mass, I want to be home. Today - the Ogre and I grocery shopped, and had to run by my office to do a little thing I forgot to do on Friday, then we worked on a puzzle and drank a little. Our youngest is sick, so we kept her medicated and quiet (so nice!), our son is staying with his girlfriend for the entire Christmas break - I'm not sure how I feel about that, but OK- he's 18 in 5 weeks, so whatever, dude - peace be with you! Honestly, I've no room to complain - I was married when I was 17. It's my opine that you have to get that first marriage out of the way early - if only to understand what a bad marriage really is. So - grocery shopping and puzzle working and drinking (me, on the wine - him, into the bourbons). Bird - watched - I got a handheld telescope for Christmas - and I bird watched today. I spied a bright yellow fellow - I can't figure out who he is - not a goldfinch, no an oriole. Will continue to investigate.

Wild cats yes, Lions and Tigers (but not bears, oh my) Leapords, etc. Though there was a tortoise and a rabbit there as well, plus a domestic cat that hung out in the gift shop.

hollygolightly I’m going to be looking for any entry-level job. It has been forever since I had a “real” job. i’ve done Loads of volunteer work and babysat more kids than I can remember. But none of that is what an employer wants. The volunteer work ended about 10 years ago. I applied to get back into it about 3 years ago, but I would have to pay to get a police check done. I don’t object to getting it done, but paying to volunteer my time was a bit much. Anyplace else would cost me $6 a day in bus fare to volunteer at, so I’ve stopped. A million years ago I worked in an office, but the work I did no longer exists.

Maybe there is a craftstore that needs workers? A paid teacher for classes?

People buying stuff like there's Doomsday tomorrow or a supply blockage, so you can't buy anything after a Holiday. It's always the same spectacle

Just got back a little bit ago. All I did was sleep, and eat! They had some great food there! They were all sad to see me go, because they said I was the best patient. I only bugged them for ice water. Didn't hear a peep outta me for anything else. Watched a lot of TV!!

Have you made any New Year's resolutions yet? or broken any?
I resolve to pay more attention to the calendar and figure out when it is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!

Goals for 2019 - quit taking things so personally, exercise more, breathe deep and let it go. Today I did the stupidest thing. I was mad at the Ogre. We were putting away the Christmas stuff finally and he dropped part of the Christmas tree on my face as I was handing it up to him - he was on the attic ladder. It was a damn mess. Knocked my glasses off, scratched me up, and I stomped my foot at him - so as to let him know how mad I was. And I got my knee out of whack from the stomping. So I took to bed for the afternoon. I had wanted to clean house - it needs a top to bottom clean up. But my knee... So he had to make dinner. He made fried chicken. It was pretty darn good, and it's something I never make because it takes forever and makes a mess of the kitchen. I've nearly demolished a bottle of Chardonnay - Toad Hollow. Tasty but not potent. You get what you pay for. pegasus216 - sounds like you had a good rest! EEK - my laptop batter is low - I must bid you TTFN!! I'll see yez in the morn! Blessed be! Tomorrow is Epiphany - go to Mass, smell the incense! the music is some of my favorite of the year. The Magi!!

Did you make up to the Orge, Holly?
I get that same way if something goes wrong. I'll never quit being like that either!

pegasus216 - I did make up - after he made dinner. God bless him - he fried 12 pieces of chicken in a sauce pan - 2 pieces at a time. He has no idea about cooking. It was very entertaining to watch and I couldn't be mad after that.

@wayoftheredpanda That is going to be very cool - I'm thinking of going to it too. It keeps popping up on facebook likes it's coming here soon.

So far today all I've managed to do is call my sister in Toronto - still need to go out to buy ingredients to make butter chicken.
Guess I better get cracking as I see it is already 20 minutes to five!
