Finished "Our kind of Traitor" by John le Carre
I'm not a friend of Spy Novels but this one was pretty entertaining. It had some nice characters.
Started "Gray Mountain" by John Grisham

I've been wanting to read Gray Mountain and Camino Island. I've heard great things about both. I have a copy of A Painted House but can't get motivated to finish it.

I'm reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, but I'm only on page 96. The print is very densely packed. I'm in awe of the strength and tenacity of the characters, especially Howard Roark. If I'd read this book 15 years ago, then I would've tried harder to stay in my first college program, and I would've fought harder to keep my second job after graduation. I think maybe I give up too easily when faced with opposition or adversity.

Finished reading In the Night Room by Straub. Took me many months. Straub has a unique writing style and takes a while to get used to. Besides his SK collabs, I have previously only read one of his novels - Koko. Freaked me out big time.
Read Crank by Ellen Hopkins. Written in sort of a free form poetry format. It was okay.
Started The Outsider by SK. Sooooo enthralling from the very beginning. Hope it stays this good!

I also started rereading Joyland. I've only read it once (right after it was released). My mom needs a new book to read, and I always have to make sure there's no "animal stuff" before I make a recommendation. I only remember bits and pieces of the story, so I'm excited for the refresher.

Good story. Don;t recall anything animal. I do not handle that well either.

I've begun Bachman's Blaze. I tried reading Saul Bellow some years ago. Maybe I wasn't ready. I was way into Capote and the southern writers back then. Somehow, I never really got Faulkner. What do you think of Saul Bellow?
Typically cruel Hemingway quote (off the top of my head): "I've read that in Faulkner's Nobel Prize acceptance letter, he listed his occupation as "farmer". Reading his last novel, I'm not sure he's wrong."

I’m reading The World According to Bob and it’s about this British guy who used to be homeless and an addict whose life has turned around. He is doing much better now and the story is mainly about his ginger cat (Bob), who accompanies him everywhere.

Typically cruel Hemingway quote (off the top of my head): "I've read that in Faulkner's Nobel Prize acceptance letter, he listed his occupation as "farmer". He is better than Updike and Roth, IMO. His books do require a special kind of focus, and I think that is attributed to the complexity of his character's inner life, an information overload. He's intelligent without having his collar too tight. Blaze was a good book. It had a sweetness to it, like The Green Mile and Joyland. Yeah, Hemingway couldn't stay in his own lane, could he? He was compelled to plow the literary freeway and ding the cars he wished he could afford. Jealous much, Hemmy? LOL.

Well I am going to try again and if this does not work I’ll switch to my PC.
I almost bought five hardcover first edition SK Books yesterday (with dust jackets) for $24. It was at Value Village but then I changed my mind. So I took a picture with my phone as I could not remember how many of them I already owned! 🤔
Hey I just had it happen again. It started to freeze up so I just created the post then went back in to edit it. (Been having technical issues).
Now I feel like going back to get those books - I wonder if they are still there?

Same here, Neesy. It takes me 30 minutes just to write three lines. It'll keep refreshing or start blinking. My cursor disappears and sometimes my entire post.
Sorry...I'm not complaining, Frank. Maybe it is my tablet. Don't know.

Maybe it is my tablet. Don't know. I think you may be right - last night I wrote this long reply to a message (it was to you Doc) then it was gone. Gonna switch over to my PC... Plus I need to go downstairs anyway and have some coffee! 😜

So to get back on to the topic of What Are You Reading I just checked my bookshelf - I already own The Dark Half, Four Past Midnight and Under the Dome. However UTD is a large book but it's a soft cover book.
Thinking I will probably go back and buy Black House, The Talisman and that hard cover copy of Under the Dome. It will cost me $18 but what the heck - that's not really a lot and it will add to my collection.
Just hope no other Stephen King fans happen upon the books in the Horror section as I arranged them neatly so I could take a picture
Still have not started reading The Outsider but I plan to go to my local library tomorrow to pick up the copy that is on hold for me. I'm trying to keep my own copy pristine for now!
