I have meatballs with tagliatelle pasta lined up for my wife and daughter later, I collect my wife from yoga at 8.30 then we'll head over and collect my daughter from work at 9.00 so I needed something quick to rustle up for them, I cooked the meatballs last night so it's just a matter of cooking the pasta when we get in. I had a cheese sandwich earlier so that will do for me, I just can't eat what I cook.

Maybe there is a psychiatric explanation to this. I seem far more ravenous when it is someone else's cooking.

I think you're right Doc, there probably is a psychiatric explanation, I do 90% of the cooking as I'm always the first home, preparing food has developed into a chore for me, it's just something I have to do, if my wife prepared the exact same food and handed it to me I'd devour it and ask for more.

Just had some leftovers for lunch - sweet and sour meatballs - but I ate it with some fettuccine rather than rice.
Andy has some soup simmering on the stove - red lentil.

doccreed and @notaro y'all are just 'tired of your own cooking', that's what it is. I've seen it happen to more than a few people, it's really not uncommon. Like getting tired of takeout all the time and people start craving home cooking.

We've had enough of heavy rich food stuff while on vacation, and it is really hot out still. Going for something lighter and hydrating: Roman/Greco salad variation, with cubed watermelon, cucumber and tomatoe, coarse chopped red onion, some whole kalamatas, a little mint, lots of parsley and basil, plenty of feta, some sliced green olive, and all drizzled with some red wine vinegar and olive oil, topped with some grated parmesan and chopped toasted pistachios. A little bit of sea salt and fresh ground black pepper too. hmmmm.....I tempted to put some celery seed in there too. But I don't know if it'll really go good with all that. Don't want to add too much stuff. Going to make some garlic bread to go on the side. Got everything else prepped and ready to go. I think this is going to be really good.

I might make a recipe with chicken breasts - with fresh rosemary and baby tomatoes (Just have to go buy some chicken)

It was good! Turned out even better than I thought it would.
Your dinner sounds delicious nees, think I might make some iceberg salads tonight with all the fixings and a couple of grilled chicken breasts cut in strips. lol, now I have to buy some chicken, or have the boy pick some up on the way home. Thanks for giving me the idea neesy.

Sandwiches sound good.
Glad your supper turned out good Wolfie
I ended up buying lean ground beef instead of those chicken breasts. It just felt like a good night for something with gravy or spaghetti sauce because it was cold out.
I made a hamburg stew with gravy and niblets corn that we ate with mashed potatoes.
The rest of the package was turned into spaghetti sauce and will be eaten later with pasta.
Also made some cheese scones or cheese biscuits that turned out quite nice.

I think I might need to dig up my almond cookie recipe. Maybe if I make some this weekend it will lure @gntlgnt01 back to the playground.
morgan , what is almond milk like? I've seen it made on youtube (I was looking up extract making) but I don't know what it tastes like, or if it's watery or not. I bet you could substitute it for dairy in baking. Does it taste like almonds?

I always buy the vanilla-flavored kind, so it doesn't taste like almonds (to me anyway). Not sure what the unsweetened, plain stuff tastes like.
I thought about you when I was driving this afternoon. I was behind a trailer and "Wolf Pup" was on the back of it. Think it was the actual brand of trailer.

Hey morgan NEVER had soy and don't want to go there, man. I had tofu once....it freaked me out. I'm really not sure if I've ever had coconut milk..... Is that the same thing as the canned stuff you make Pina Coladas with? If it is then I like it!😋 I have actually never made a Pina Colada, other people have always made them for me, but I've always been the one left to clean up the blender afterwards, lol. Thanks for the information. Oh thats cool about the trailer, I seen those around too. Always makes me think of my kid. Thanks for thinking of me.😊

wolf LOL That canned coconut stuff used in pina coladas is super thick. Actual coconut milk is very watery but has decent flavor.
Tofu is definitely an acquired taste. It is practically flavorless on its own, so needs to marinate in some good seasoning for a while. I like it with Chinese veggies or in a scramble (kind of like an omelet).

Made pork chops, fries and pasta salad tonight. I've been thinking about making pasta salad and some other "indoor picnic" type food for Labor Day.

Tonight I cheated and made the boxed Suddenly Salad kind (it was on sale! 😄) but I also make a homemade kind. Add lots of cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, celery and sometimes grated cheese. Yummy!

That's a great idea! I have some garden peppers and tomatoes that need to be used. I usually make my pasta salad with peas, onions and carrots. Might have to switch it up a bit.
