Chicken and dressing, fried cream corn, and baked butternut squash with brown sugar and cinnamon. Josh went to IGA and bought a large package of extra lean ground beef and now I am trying to find a good recipe for it.
Andy is weird - he does not like pasta, chili con carne or most Tex-Mex type recipes.
Hmmm, maybe some meatballs with spaghetti sauce. We eat them on sandwich rolls...maybe this will work since he doesn't like pasta.

I just had a random thought - do we have a thread called "Random Thoughts"?

You're welcome! For something simple and less spicy you could make hamburger patties in a brown gravy with onions and eat with rice or mashed potatoes.

I just took out of the oven an iron skillet of homemade buttermilk biscuits. I spread grape jelly on top. Having a fried egg, too.

Last night I tried a new recipe for baked chicken wings with honey garlic sauce. I used six crushed cloves of garlic and 1/4 cup of honey plus some sesame oil and soya sauce.
It called for tabasco but Andy cannot eat very spicy food so I just put a wee bit of the sriracha sauce.
So what recipe do you use for the biscuits doccreed?

That sounds good, too. Laws, yes! I sift two cups of self-rising flour and add about 1/4 cup of lard. Rub it into flour with hands until there are pea size crumbles in your flour. Pour half cup buttermilk in middle of well and with wooden spoon gently fold and mix until you have a moist ball. Dust with flour, roll out and divide dough into biscuits. (I use pizza cutter.) Place in greased iron skillet and bake at 500 for around twelve minutes. When done, pour melted butter on top while biscuits are in skillet.

By the way we caught another squirrel!
This one is number 12. He is now living near a school far away from our house (at least 2.5 km away).
Your recipe sounds good - so good that I copied and pasted it into a Word document - thanks!

So what are you doing with the squirrel? Soup?Ew - no thanks - creepy little buggers (they are very cute when they are sitting up straight with their little paws held in front of them) but I don't want to eat them!
I gave it an apple cut in wedges and covered up the trap with a blanket while I was getting ready to go out.
His little friend (I think it was a male) was watching from the fence and making a lot of noise.
I think we'll call this one Twinky (the twelth) - the one before this Josh called Blinky because he blinked a lot.
He is in a park close to a school with lots of trees all around
School doesn't start here until September so that gives his some time to get acclimatized to his new neighborhood smileys-sommer-70

No meal, just fried thin pork chops. Right now I'm baking peanut butter bread in a loaf pan.

That sounds fantastic; especially if the meat is sirloin or extra lean.

That sounds fantastic; especially if the meat is sirloin or extra lean. I made Marinara Sauce yesterday and it made 6 servings. Froze 5 and ate 1 last night with Garlic Cheese Bread.
Finally found a good recipe for that sauce, but added a small tin of tomato paste and shredded Romano cheese on top of one serving. It was so good. Making Cheddar Biscuits today and refrigerate dough overnight and bake them off tomorrow morning.

I copied your recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes, sound great. I think you have gone from Cook to CHEF by what I am reading.

LOL...thanks, Sandy. Good idea with putting extra dough in fridge for next day. Does your marinara have meatballs? (I think Neesy shared FGT recipe, I shared buttermilk biscuits.) VWKKFduRFHVMhHXyDqLu

Thanks for the Fried Green Tomatoes recipe Neesy No I make Marinara Sauce on its own. I put meatballs in my spaghetti sauce.
I put all the dough in fridge overnight Doc. Wrapped in greased tin foil. The biscuits rise more and are fluffier too. Wanted to make scones today but have no heavy cream.

Hi - I don't remember the FGT recipe - but I will probably need to find one soon if all those tomatoes don't ripen before it gets cold here.
We have some buttermilk in the fridge right now - used it to make buttermilk chicken fingers two days ago. So now I am thinking either biscuits or pancakes to use that up.
Last night I did not feel like cooking so Josh and I went to pick up a few pizzas at a place called Za - they were pretty tasty.

Last night I went to Captain D's for fried fish, hush puppies, fries and coleslaw. Tonight I baked BBQ chicken thighs for sandwiches.
