Okey dokey, no candles I think this emoji is us having a drink morgan ! No cheese for you, sister? Just veggies and beans? Oy. I'd have to drink loads of booze then. for sure. Do you eat sweets?
I'm going to try the beer cheese soup then. I'll do a trial run sometime this week, just in case I'm horrible at it.
doccreed I make something similar to that - I haven't bought the pie crusts though - I get the crescent rolls. Always very good. Definitely good winter dinner.
@annemarie We need to eat healthier too. I'm better about it during the spring and summer when I can grill and get fresh vegetables from the farmers market (I'm a horrible gardener). I have tried cauliflower mac and cheese (the cauliflower pretended to be the pasta). If I had to lose 10 pounds for an event, I could do it for two weeks. As a regular substitute for pasta and rice or pizza crust - it would feel like a penance. Maybe I should do that for Lent. Eat cauliflower instead of carbs. Six weeks - 42 days. That's an idea. Hahaha! Yep - us drinking Jagermeister!
Well, I've been a vegetarian for over 21 years. Within that time frame, I became more lactose intolerant. So I was vegan a lot of the time, not particularly by choice. Never liked milk and eggs gross me out. But CHEESE - oh my, oh my. I read somewhere that there's something in cheese (an enzyme maybe?) that creates a euphoric feeling within the body. Doesn't surprise me.
Toward the end of last year I decided to be a full-time vegan. I might be the only person in the history of the world to actually gain weight. (This injury didn't help because I could barely move for weeks). Becoming a vegetarian was the easiest thing ever. This vegan thing has been the most difficult. I'm hoping they start a Fattest Vegan reality show and I can win some serious money! bokoebaFTerAfwUuywKb

Bit of a weird dinner. Mashed potatoes, turkey thigh, and spaggetti squash. The squash being done in the Instant Pot.

I want to buy an air fryer. annamarie - you seem to know your appliances. Ever used one of these? And if so, any brand recommendations?

Sunday morning I’m making my heart-attack breakfast. First I’ll fry up a pound of bacon. Dump off a little of the grease and then fry up some scrapple in it. Then throw eggs with salt and pepper into the grease for some lovely over easy-eggs infused with meat parts from the grease. Gotta have some toast slathered with real butter. High-test coffee is a must. And I’ll also serve orange juice just to show I do care about health and nutrition.

The only Vonnegut novel I read was Slaughterhouse-Five back in college. I did see him in a role playing himself in Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield. I was impressed and thought I wish he would have helped me back in school.

neesy I love Vonnegut and haven't read that one - thanks for the rec!
And back to the subject matter, I think I'm having tater tots for dinner. (Napoleon Dynamite LOL)

That's better than this, I guess:
I don't think I've ever tried the food called "Pigs in Blankets" - pork sausage wrapped in pastry

My grandma used to make "pigs in a blanket." But her recipe was a meat, rice and tomato mixture rolled in cabbage.

Do you like pierogies? Ha - that came up with a red line under it and when I right clicked, it suggested "groupies" instead!

Haven't had pierogies in a many years, but they are super delicious! My grandma used to make them from scratch with leftover mashed potatoes and called them potato kuekla.

(I've never tried to make home made pierogis before)
diobolic - who knows? Maybe it will be similar to that old recipe you've been looking for for years?
Keeping my fingers crossed they turn out okay

Neesy, here's how I make "pigs in a blanket". Easy. I cut off little strips of dough and wrap around individual sausages and bake. Between 375 and 425 degrees, I think. Check package.
I prefer to put two packages of sausages in a crockpot with grape jelly (or apple jelly) and a bottle of my favorite barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's) and a diced onion. Cook on high for four or five hours. Then I cook the crescent rolls separately. They're a crowd pleaser and addicting. Nothing to it. Here are the brands I buy:Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted
