Leftovers!!

Leftovers here in Chez Holly as well. We had a very untraditional Thanksgiving. I'll never do that again. But we got home Thursday night, and Friday morning I started on the feast. The only thawed turkey I could find at the store was 23 pounds, so we got a 23 pound turkey for just me and the Ogre. We'll be eating on it forever. The kids are here, but they never eat turkey.
What sides does everyone usually cook/eat? I did giblet gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing (Stovetop!), creamed peas & carrots, dinner rolls. If we'd been at my mom's there would have been sweet potato casserole, and just green beans instead of green bean casserole. And enough pie to make me sick. I didn't have pie. Next year, I'll have pie. I have a tub of chocolate frosting. That was dessert - just have a spoon of frosting.
Tomorrow I'm making turkey club sandwiches (on brioche with bacon) and turning the mashed potatoes into latkes.
Hope you all had a wonderful time with your family. I'm going over to the Cantina to whine about my Vacation that Should Never Have Happened.

Karen's father-in-law got 2 turkeys from his work, so Karen is cooking the one that they put in our freezer today. With all the trimmings. Mashed potatoes, gravy, candied sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, and macaroni and cheese, and hot bread.

Today I am going to make something we called goulash when I was growing up, but it is really just lean ground beef, cooked with onions and seasonings then you add some tomatoes and finally put some cooked macaroni in it.
I like sweet corn in mine as well (I like the texture).
Sometimes I'll chop up celery and saute that along with the onions.

Sandwiches. Tomorrow I am baking a ham and making sweet potatoes, green beans, and yeast rolls. I'll probably make sweet cornbread too because I like the combination with ham.

We are making home made calzones tonight. Never tried before, so wish us luck, Yum! Sounds delicious. Seems like they'd be difficult to make, but then again, I'm not very skilled in the kitchen!

We are making home made calzones tonight. Never tried before, so wish us luck, Yum! Sounds delicious. Seems like they'd be difficult to make, but then again, I'm not very skilled in the kitchen! We make pizza often, and this is not much different. I made the same dough I make for pizza, which is similar to a bread dough. Cut it into 6 pieces. Rolled them as circular as I could. On one side we put pizza sauce, cheese, toppings, more cheese, then folded over. (Important to not have sauce go right to edge. It needs to be dry along edges to stick.) Then I decided to put an egg wash on top to brown it. Baked 425 for about 16 minutes.

Mmmmm - that sounds so good!
How did they turn out? - I bet you they were scrumptious
