Glad everyone had a good day. That’s always a great way to start a weekend.
I spent the week at my son’s farm. My days started by letting The Great White Beast out. Then I had to let the chickens out of their house and into their run, put the board up for them to get back in, and get me out of the run without letting them escape. (Imagine Tippi Hedren in the phone booth scene.) One morning, all was going well, when suddenly the chickens and roosters come running back…some up the board which I was still holding and the rest around my feet, squawking like crazy. The Beast decided to help and was sitting outside the fence near their food.
Ya’ll know how much I love a yappy snappy puppy. You can see how dangerous he is. 🤣
I was exhausted and asleep between 8:30-9:30 every night.

Lol, that little beautiful white beast is going to love you big big, and take good care of his 'Gran'! 😄 I think he might have thought he was helping you some kind of way.... 😉 Lol!...let that rooster charge and flog at you from behind, bet he'll object quite vehemently. 🙂😉 He looks a lot like a 'Grand Pyrenees'...I THINK they are a shepherding breed...and may be reputed to have VERY good (sweet) temperment....don't know if I am recalling correctly or not, though.🙂

wolf he is a sheep dog, but I’m not sure specifically which kind.
They have lost a few roosters, chickens and ducks to a fox, which is why they decided to get a guardian dog. DIL gave me a spray water bottle and said if he won’t listen, or snaps at the kids squirt him. “And don’t be afraid to use it!” The first day I didn’t leave the house without the water bottle. By day two, he was listening to me more, and I learned that if I snap my fingers and point beside me he will sit. Not where I point, but it was acceptable. So I stopped carrying water. By day four, when I said “sit” followed by “down” he would lay down, and if I crouched down to pet him, he would roll for a belly rub. Son said that means dog has accepted me as a boss. That’s not the word he said.
Shocked my husband, when he came to pick me up, dog was barking and I just went over, settled him and leashed him. NEVER in my life have I done such a thing. Lol

Hey annamarie , I'm using the outlet(electrical plug) in this picture for scale here. Going by this pic he looks to be about 6 months old. (give or take some time, and that is if he is the breed I think he is) 🙂 Do you know how old he actually is?
...and when he went to sit by the chickens when they were huddled around their food, he might have been wanting to follow his 'herding instincts'.
My uncle used to have a purebred Sheltie that used to instinctively run out and 'herd' his four goats in a tight circle.
If the big billy lowered his horns at her threateningly, she would get under his chin and 'beard him'. It was really something interesting and fun to watch.😊

wolf I think he’s younger than 6 months. It probably is part of his herding instinct, and he was with his working mother while he was nursing. But, he’s also a puppy and thinks everything is a chew toy…except actual chew toys. 😂
