Great song. The movie came out when I was in boot camp and brings back a ton of memories. What year were you in boot camp and where did you do your recruit training? I went to Cornwallis Nova Scotia on April 25, 1980 for 11 weeks; back then they trained the females separately from the males, although we did have a 'brother platoon'

1986 at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes. We had no female recruits there at that time, but they are there now. After that I went to my A-school to be a Hospital Corpsmen, that was Co-ed.
After that a bunch of us shipped out to Camp Pendleton for Field Medical Service School, this was basically another boot camp run by the Marines, but this was co-ed as well.

That sounds great - did you stay in the military very long? I ended up being in for 21 years regular force then did 4 years as a reservist; after that I took training for Clinical Office Assistant at Herzing then eventually did a Medical Transcription Course at Red River College
Here's a pic from your Recruit Training Command place - did you wear a "cracker jack" suit?

I was only in for 7, I extended once (3 years) so I had no reserve time.
In hindsight I should've stayed in, but at that time I was an aerospace med tech which sounds very cool but it is 99% doing flight physicals and filling reports.
When I tried to switch they told me it was a critical field so I would be stuck for several years. I even offered to go to SEAL training, but they said no.

Well you've got a good job now but I know what you mean - I tried remustering from Supply Tech to Admin Clerk for years - finally got the chance when I got posted to NDHQ
I think you made the right choice for you - for me I hung in there because I remember my Dad saying "You can stay in 20 years and get a pension!" Good old Dad - he always thought about the money (I miss him a lot)
