Ignore my last post, King Of Fighters 14 got old after about an hour.
So I went back to a game that isn't totally new but isn't totally old, Hitman: Absolution. It was on sale on GOG for 4 dollars, can't beat that price, costs more to drive down to Best Buy to buy the game for the Playstation.
Fans of John Wick and Splinter Cell should love it, but Splinter Cell did get a lot of their ideas from the original Hitman games, so there's obvious similarities. Absolution does something new unlike other Hitman games, one can go postal without the target getting away, some hated it but I thought it added more re-play value because I can mix it up or go straight stealth or just go on a killing frenzy. Some levels do have innocent people however, and killing them will mean less money or no money is earned at the end of the level, so its best to mix it up, go stealth when need be and go crazy when the innocent are out of the way. 47 is a bad a*s in Absolution like he is in earlier games, just gets more of a human side in Absolution, and there's a cute twist at the end which makes the gloomy beginning even better.
In short, as of right now, its only 3.99 on GOG, totally DRM free... but xmas sales are still in play but I'm not sure when they'll end, might not be until new years, may be sooner.. hard to say.
That's gog.com of course.. I only buy on Gog or I will "borrow" from a naughty site, not to be evil but I just hate DRM...

Saints Row reboot got pushed back to August, was supposed to be out this February but things change. The good news, they're not going all out graphics wise, but they do seem to be pushing Windows 10/11, which is going to upset a lot since Windows 10, I'd say its still 60/40 between Windows 10 and Windows 7 users, so there are more Windows 10 users now but Volition is still going to lose a lot of buyers if they don't make it accessible on 7.

I am curious how they will update the gameplay for Splinter Cell Remake. I hope they incorporate the multiple paths introduced in Chaos Theory. I also hope that they get Michael Ironside back as the voice of Sam Fisher.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and are having a GREAT New Year. 🙂

I'd say it depends on how old Sam is going to be in the new franchise, younger actor if its Sam in his youth, if its not, I'd say they bring Michael back.

I say keep Ironiside, regardless of whether its a young Sam we're getting. Anyway, Ironisde wasn't young when he did those recordings for the original games back when Sam was young.

The likelihood is that if we do get another Splinter Cell, it will be Ironisde that does the voice. Ubisoft brought him back for Fischer's appearance in Ghost Recon, so there's no reason why they wouldn't for a new game.

I finally caved and tried a Witcher game, The Witcher III GOTY version I believe.
I don't know if its my thing, its like Skyrim but with some old guy who just casts spells and talks a lot, at least so far.
Think I may try one of the newer Batman games next, ever since I saw the new Suicide Squad film, I can't get the Harley out of my head.
I'd be pissed but Witcher 3 was on sale for 10 and I have store credit, so it was basically free. My fault, I fell for the hype and usually I do a good job at avoiding hype.
Learning lesson...

So I got my refund on Witcher 3 and I'm playing Arkham Asylum currently. The first time I played it eons ago, got like 3% into the game and then Saints Row 3 came out and I never got back to it. This time around I'm at 15% and so far its a lot of fun, great mix of action and stealth and well, detective work. The game is odd though, the batmobile looks like the 1989 version, wish they'd have used the tank from the Nolan films instead It never made sense that Batman's cars had a sporty look, he was supposed to be spooky, not be suffering from a midlife crisis.

I have never played any of the Witcher games, or watched the new show on Netflix. But the graphics did look pretty cool. I really enjoy the Batman Arkham series of games. The only game I haven't played yet is Arkham Knight because I don't have a PC the right specs or a PS4/Xbox One. Are you playing the original version of the game, or the updated version that runs on a recent engine?

They never remastered the game for the PC, just the PS4 and I think the 360, but it looks great regardless. Now the question is, will the new film be good? Well... Pattinson has the look if he bulked up, couldn't tell in the preview I saw, just showed him is the costume.

I just realized its Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman in the upcoming Batman film, so totally down for this. While Catwoman is supposed to be white, its odd, she looks more like the white Catwoman from the comic and games than Hathaway and Michelle who are white. Anywho, still no sign of clayface in the game, if he isn't in it, don't spoil it. I just was hoping he would be but if he isn't it isn't a big issue. for all I know he could have been killed in the comic, haven't read the comic since 92.

I went overkill since GOG had a sale and ended up getting Batman: Asylum Origins as well.
Origins is a good game game play wise but they marketed it as a prequel and try to tell his earlier years, that's where they got things wrong. His suit is way too high tech, which makes no sense for him to have earlier than later, and he's way too skilled for him to be just a few years into his career. So now I see why so many give the game negative reviews on various sites. It isn't that the game itself is bad, it just doesn't fit well with the rest of the Arkham story and this isn't the 80's anymore where a video game is just about running around and jumping and/or shooting, the story plays a large role in most modern games, so if the story falls flat, it will hurt the game and Asylum's story falls flat. Another thing that I think that hurt the game with critics, it plays too much like City and too soon.
In short, for gamers who don't have tons of time and haven't tried out the Batman games yet, I'd say just buy Arkham City, it has everything that makes Arkam Asylum fun, and so much more. Wiki says the games main story takes nearly 40 hours to beat, if they do the side quests as well its closer to 60, then they added DLC missions later, so I'd say there's over 80 hours one can squeeze out of the game, a game that often goes on sale for 5 dollars on Got, and usually only costs 20. I mean 20 dollars for over 60 hours of game play is well worth it, but 5 dollars for all of that, even more of a treat.
As for when the games will go on sale soon, GOG always does a seasonal sale, so I imagine they'll do a big sale the week of easter.
That's Gog.com
As for console players... well... uh... no clue how that market works. Guess is just up to Walmart and Target when they went to put games on sale..
