At least it's decent as a storytelling device, and I got it for $3 while it was on sale anyways so I can't complain too much. If I bought it at the $30 regular price I would feel scammed beyond belief, though. Please don't buy this unless it's on sale for really cheap, if ever. Its funny, you just reminded me of a game I've never mentioned in this thread but yet I adore it. Brutal Legend... I eman its f'in Legendary. Black does the voice of the lead character, Ozzy and Halford also play characters in the game, and its a mix of strategy and an open world beat em up game, and the soundtrack, its back to back hard rock and metal from all the legends from the 70's to the 2000's, great game. Crashed on me once but I was using a trainer at the time, so that may be why. It didn't repeat the crash the second time I loaded up that last level without the trainer, so it was most likely the trainer. GOG now has it, totally DRM free but one thing confuses me, it says that the online abilities of the game don't work on the DRM free version, I don't remember any online functions in the game. Anywho, I got errands to do tomorrow but if I get time, I'm getting it and crossing my fingers it works since it was years ago that I played it last, so it may not work on my newer GPU. But the reviews on GOG, I don't see any complaints... The story, its of a roadie who gets transported to another planet and helps them overcome demonic forces, kind of reminds me of one of the stories in that 80's Heavy Metal animated film, kind of. Black basically plays himself, you can tell he's a die hard metal guy... Halford, Ozzy, and Lita are the three guest voice actors, think Lemmy may have a few lines in the game, been awhile though. Poor Lemmy, he lived a hard life...

Black got Ronnie James Dio in the Tenacious D movie, too. Only a few years before Dio passed away. Jack Black is an interesting "Jack" of All Trades when it comes to his talents and career choices, balancing being a musician, YouTuber, actor, and family man. I've never really seen any of his films all the way through, I tried to sit through School Of Rock, just was too corny. I've been playing the game on and off for two days or so, I forgot to unlock all 100+ songs, one has to complets lots of quests, even has to do two quests before even getting the radio unlocked. I'm at 32% into the game and have 40% of the songs unlocked, but there's one quest that unlocks a ton of the songs I like. The game also has the option to disable the songs one doesn't like, so I have all the black metal stuff disabled, just don't for that genre. Great hybrid/RTS game and they really get the metal thing down very well and use uber glam rock looking characters as the enemies at first, and then goths, two things hard rock/metal guys never cared for, Poison like glam metal and gothic rock. People have to remember, goth came from punk and punk musicians hated metal musicians, so since goth was an offshoot of punk, it inherited the dislike. Metalheads weren't as anti goth however, in fact most goth girls dated metal guys rather than goth guys because they preferred their men to more macho, while a lot of goth guys were kind of femme. Talk about two subcultures of music that had an odd relationship. Wish that the game had a mode where one can do all the missions again with all the songs unocked, but sadly, one has the choise of starting over from scratch, or just cruising around doing side quests they didn't finish before beating the game. There's a "hack" to unlock all the songs from the start, but I don't trust it. Its a short game anyways, so its not like it takes forever to get most of the good songs unlocked. Needs a sequel... but it won't happen, way too expensive, must have cost them a fortune to get all those songs and then the game itself... eek.

Glam Metal isn't really my thing, granted I'm sure there's good albums and artists in the niche out there, but what I've heard from artists like Motley Crue and Bon Jovi and Poison really just don't do it for me. But, Glam genres in general prove that femboys are not a new thing. Goth music I haven't explored, some of the stuff I've overheard the emo girls at my school playing I guess crosses over into Goth in some ways, similar aesthetic. But, I can't knock it until I've tried it, though some of the more commercial emo/goth songs I've heard kinda annoy me. Currently planning on listening to the rest of Roxy Music, Megadeth, and Kanye West's discographies. Though I've heard the Kanye West album that was supposed to release today was really bad from the people who watched the pay-to-listen early debut of it yesterday. Then again, I've heard everything Kanye has made in the past 5 years is of questionable quality. Back to video games, I started Resident Evil Code: Veronica X yesterday, it's alright so far. I gave up on finishing SOMA for the time being because I got stuck and don't care about the game enough to get unstuck.

Glam Metal isn't really my thing Ozzy would disagree on the glam thing, he found the Crue and liked their menacing Mad Max bad guy look and insisted they open for him, and made them popular. I never cared for them but he was right, they weren't glam, Poison was really the only HUGE glam band, the others may have toyed iwth it briefly but then ditched it quickly. But it was all aesthetics, music wise, Poison was just another Van Halen but with a glam look, I mean CC Deville tried to emulate Eddie, never came close, Brett tried to be like Roth, never came close. But Brett was able to do one thing Roth never could do, a proper power ballad, Roth just can't hit the ballad like vocal range well enough to pull it off, that's where Haggar made Van Halen shine, he was able to pull off power ballads. Too bad they couldn't have had both Roth and Haggar and they could have alternated on lead like Gne and Paul from Kiss, they would have had even more hits. Roth though went solo and his solo career sucked. But back to the game, there's no Van Halen in Brtual Legend, not yet, I opened up another 10% of the soundtrack, its more Ozzy and black metal bands, and Skid Row, another great band. They weren't glam either, total street look, and Bach, that guy can hit the notes, as it stands now, he can hit the notes way better than Halford but if they were the same age, Halford would have him beat by a mile but Halford is an old man now, and has lost most of that range he had.

The Painkiller tour killed Rob's prime voice, he still sounds good for his age, but the fact that almost every song on Painkiller has him hitting really high notes multiple times really strained his talents, especially on a very long tour.

The Painkiller tour killed Rob's prime voice, he still sounds good for his age, but the fact that almost every song on Painkiller has him hitting really high notes multiple times really strained his talents, especially on a very long tour. I agree that played into it, and then when he went off and started FIGHT, they were even more aggressive and he really tore up his vocals trying to be far more aggressive to keep up with Pantera and the other new breed, by the time he re-joined Priest the range just wasn't as good but he can't hit the notes on Victim Of Changes as well as he used to, that song used to be epic live, still sounds pretty solid though. David Coverdale is another vocalist who has an outstanding voice but he's had to take time off and get throat surgeries over the years due to putting so much tear on his vocals it caused polyps at one point and some other issue at another point. But I heard him a few years back do 'Still Of the Night', his range is still pretty good, so the surgeries helped quite a bit. Not sure if he finally retired or not, I don't keep up with what the bands I like are up to, if I come across a new release, I'll check it out, but I don't go looking like I used to. Well, I know Type O Negative isn't going to release anything new anytime soon, and I know Nirvana isn't, and I know Jani Lane isn't, but Ozzy continues to release new music, I just don't like that Linda makes him put his daughter on backing vocals on some of the songs now, she can't sing worth sh*t. Linda needs to go into hiding anyways, she got blacklisted from Hollywood for the most part, now they need to blacklist her from the music industry so Ozzy can just be free and be like, "sorry, hun, they won't let me work with you". She'd probably force him to retire though. If they're still even together, last I heard she kicked him out again due to the fact he had more than one affair, but she cheated on him with Randy and he stayed with her. Guess whats good for isn't good for him.

I totally got off topic regarding Brutal Legend to take about very old singers.
Brutal Legend has two flaws, only one female fronted metal singer is featured, there were tons of female fronted bands when that game was being made, so they have no excuses. The side quests can get repetitive, and I'm not fond with so many songs being locked until half way into the game, and it would have been nice to have his flying abilities the minute he gets them instead of only during certain missions, and they could have ported it over a little better, or made a dedicated PC version like Volition did with Saints Row 3 and 4. One of the reasons I dislike Saints Row 2, it was poorly ported to the PC and the controls are horrible, and the music cuts out all the time because they just did a quickie port, if they would have made a decided PC version of Saints Row 2, I probably would have liked it better than the third game, but not the fourth. The fourth is just too funny and I love the sci fi stuff in the 4th.
As for the pro's, not a huge open world but a fun open world, and the humor, its just insane, I mean Lionwhyte is obviously meant as a shot at Brett Michaels, in a fun way, and the demons are totally a jab at the mascots so many metal bands had back in the day. The music is cool, even though have used more female fronted bands, the action is fun and a little graphic but fun, the driving controls are a little clunky but good enough with a game pad, and the character all have a certain charm to them. And despite all of the humor, there's a story that connects Eddie to the the strange world he's in, a story with some depth, go figure. Its worth the 15 spot if one doesn't mind having no MP campaign, its an option in the game, just doesn't work because the developer used Steam's servers, and GOG took them out because Steam is the competition. The MP campaign is kind of boring anyways, no loss.
Could easily be a fun animated film, I'd say live action but there's too many over the top things that would lose their fun if it was real people.
Oh, and yeah, I like RTS games to a degree, was a huge Command and Conquer fan, especially MP wise...

Those yellow muscular long armed zombies in RE Code Veronica, they're annoying, but the sounds they make as they stretch their arms to grope Claire are funny, sounds like something out of a slapstick cartoon and not a horror game attempting to be serious.

I've played the first Half Life and it was so much fun, it's a timeless game. This game was way ahead of its time with graphics, sound and content.I think it's a great game as well. I also like the expansion packs Opposing Force, and Blue Shift. I have yet to play Half-Life 2 other than a small demo that was pretty fun.

Its been nearly 20 years since I played that game but I do remember it having solid game play but unintentional levity at times, but it was a transitional game, it was the first to leave Racoon City, and they got a little lost after moving the story forward and expanding upon it, but they found their way back with the 4th. It may have been a game they just tossed out there to keep RE fans happy while they took their time developing the 4th, I mean the 4th was their main focus point for awhile, a new engine, new camera system, an open world for the most part, and featuring Leon and Ada, the two most loved from the second game, I preferred Claire but that's me. I honestly may prefer Silent Hill, I think its a bit more atmospheric, and the horror is a bit more an edge, even the third, didn't care for the girl but at the same time it was a fun game anyways. I dunno, again, its been awhile since I've played some of the games I'm talking about. Maybe I'll go back SH 3 sooner than later since I never did finish it, moved on to FEAR I think.

Silent Hill has the most creepy music I've ever heard in a video game. The whole sound design is really good too. There are apparently rumors flying around that Konami is outsourcing their IPs to other studios like Metal Gear and Silent Hill. Maybe the first game could get remade.

It’s good but I played for like an hour and a half today without saving due to no ink ribbons, made a lot of progress, and then died and will have to do that all over again. I’m liking it better than the first one though. I think the setting of a penal colony in a zombie apocalypse is a lot cooler than just a big mansion. I hate that little kid with that stupid voice though. I get he’s supposed to be annoying, but he just adds nothing to the game so far. Claire saves his a*s multiple times and yet he acts like she needs him to protect her even though she’s clearly older than him, is a trained police officer, has had the most experiences with zombie killing out of anyone at this point, and also has way more weapons stockpiled than he does. Not to mention he refuses your help the first time you meet and then everytime after says he should be helping you. I didn’t care for his “emotional” backstory either due to how bad his voice acting is, sounds so whiny.

The fight with the Tyrant on the plane is now one of my least favorite boss fights in all of gaming history. Bastards trick you into saving right before the fight and I happened to be out of any traditional ammo when I did so, meaning I now have to kill the thing with the stupid canon on the plane that does minimal damage and can only be fired roughly once every 30 seconds.

I hate that little kid with that stupid voice though. I get heâs supposed to be annoying, but he just adds nothing to the game so far. Claire saves his a§§ multiple times and yet he acts like she needs him to protect her even though sheâs clearly older than him, is a trained police officer, has had the most experiences with zombie killing out of anyone at this point, and also has way more weapons stockpiled than he does. Actually, she was just a college kid who ran smack into zombies in RE 2, so all of her training involved what she learned while surviving in RE 2, so one can argue the boy had just as much experience surviving the zombie thing. However, regardless, he was uber annoying. That's part of why I liked her, she was just an average girl who walked right into a nightmare but adapted and overcame the odds, kind of the underdog story, not unlike Andrea from TWD, the comic, not the show. But damn the kid was annoying in CV. Still a fun game but it needs a reboot, and the kid needs to go...
