asides from maybe Bethesda, at least when it came to the Fallout 76 sh-tstorm. They may be getting cocky because they used to be all about fan service since they're the devs and the pub, so they can take their time and do things right. But Skyrim did so well in sales that I think they think they can do whatever now. I dunno.... I want a new ES game but I'm afraid they'll screw it up.

They're making the next one currently. The only game I was hyped for at E3 or Summer Games Fest was the fact FromSoft finally showed the Elden Ring trailer and release date after 2 years of radio silence on the project. I don't know why people beg for games to finish and release as soon as possible, that's asking for another No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 situation. I really hope some new updates from Team Cherry on their Hollow Knight sequel, Silksong, 's production though. Take their time to finish it, but at least give another update here and there. Oh well, hopefully it will release some day at all.

I don't know why people beg for games to finish and release as soon as possible, that's asking for another No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 situation. As the GNR song goes... "all we need is just a little patience". Fans are weird, they rush and rush artists, I consider game developers artists, then when the artists do deliver early but because they have to due to the publishers usually, the fans then whine about how the game isn't long enough or has bugs, but they rushed them. There's a documentary about the ET game, its more about where Atari buried a lot of copies of the game due to lack of sales but it touches on what happened, and what happened is what continues to happen. The developer was working on ET, he wanted to make a good game, the fans wanted the game out right away, and Atari wanted the game out before the ET fad started to fade, so they rushed and rushed him and he kept saying needed more time, but his job was on the line so he did a rush job. The end result, a very repetitive game because it was an unfinished game, and the fans hated it, and home video gaming almost became obsolete because Atari was the main console and they almost went under because of hit they took due to the game bombing. You gotta remember, they had to pay Speilberg a HUGE licensing fee to do the ET game, and since it didn't even come close to how much they paid just for the licensing, much less the money they invested in development, it almost killed them. No one learns though.. Oh well... This is why I stick with vintage games, usually.

No one learns though.. Oh well... This is why I stick with vintage games, usually. Vintage games are good, I love games from all eras, but honestly the 2010s have been the best era of gaming overall, imo. The explosion of Indie Games made it so much easier with small developers with big ideas to publish and sell their games. Now you don't have to rely on AAA big corporate publishers, Indie Games are usually pretty reasonable. 2017's Hollow Knight, now that's one of the greatest games of all time and is hugely popular, and that game is absolutely filled to the brim with content and replayability and it was made entirely by only 3 people. It's only $15 too, iirc. Worth getting if you have steam or really any current console. Supporting Indie Devs is as important as supporting local businesses. Can't wait for the Hollow Knight sequel, whenever that releases, barely any updates since it was announced in 2019 but I really don't mind as long as I know they're hard at work. It's incredibly what a small team of ambitious people can do. FromSoftware is the best when it comes to AAA games, at least from this past decade. Every game they released in the 2010s is amazing, Hidetaka Miyazaki is a master when it comes to directing quilting games. Well, Dark Souls 2 was pretty flawed and some people like to hate it a lot, there's plenty of bad things about it, but it at the same time is still a pretty good game. Development on DS2 was outsourced though, it's barely even a sequel asides from basic gameplay elements, it's barely connected lore-wise to Dark Souls 1 or 3 at all. The Dark Souls games, Bloodborne, and Sekiro are a master at developing intuitive combat systems and great boss fights. Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3 is easily my favorite boss fight out of any video game and even he has some stiff competition with other Dark Souls bosses. Nameless King, Darkeater Midir, Demon Prince, Fume Knight, Sir Allone, Gwyn, and Ornstein and Smough are all some other notable boss fights from Dark Souls 1-3. Demon of Hatred and Sword Saint Isshin were my favorite bosses from Sekiro. I have not played Bloodborne or Demon Souls due to them being console exclusives, like I have said before. But, some day. Hollow Knight also has some damn good boss fights. Nightmare King Grimm most notably. White Defender, Radiance, and Mantis Lords were also great.

Also, here's a random fact for you: Rockstar Games, the developed, was formed, and is mainly based, in Scotland! This is their Scotland studio:

I'm sure Deviancy knows all about Rockstar Games. 🙂 Dev, they are the same co. that did all the GTA games aren't they? I think I am remembering correctly. 🙂 I really enjoyed watching my sun play those too. Just good times. 🙂

Damn, I love San Andreas, that game had so much in it, huge game world, tons of ways to modify the character, took time to do so, but it had a reward system for doing so, and a great soundtrack. And it was only 4 gigs, while GTA IV wasn't nearly as fun and it was 25 gigs. Graphics kind of have hurt the game industry, they put more into the graphics now than hours of possible game play and bigger worlds. SOme say Oblivion also had a much bigger world to explore than Skyrim, but hey, Skyrim has the prettier graphics. Gameplay should always be the priority and then graphics secondary. But just my opinion...

Did I say "Quilting", I meant "Quality". lmao Hah, and when quoting what you wrote, you made it look like I'm the one who said it. I didn't notice it but I may use it in a slang like way the next time I describe a band that layers different genres of music together, I mean quilting, if I remember right, is joining different layers of fabric together, so why not toss out fabric and add in genres. For example, I'll bring up a band I got wolf hooked on, The Pretty Reckless quilt 80's hard rock and 90's Seattle rock together to make really comfy and outstanding songs. I was thinking of the DMC reboot tonight, damn shame they went back to the original series, the reboot had a lot of sequel potential, and Kat was such a cool non playable character, I'd have loved to have seen her in a sequel as a playable character. The characters were far more hip to today's trends, the original series is dated. I think it has to do with the fact it was developed by western developers so they just were more in the know when it comes to whats hip in the US these days. I really liked Kat, she was manipulated by Vergil but she and Dante both were, and they both realize he was a freak at the same time. I highly recommend it to hack and slash fans, and those who like the film franchise the Prophecy, it reminds me of the third Prophecy film for some reason, and the first in some ways.

SOMA (2015), from the creators of Amnesia, this Science Fiction horror takes place in a desolate laboratory in the darkest depths of the Ocean. Thematically, it's pretty great. At first I didn't like it until about midway through the game when I "got" what it was trying to say, and just how bleak in a psychological sense it was. Gameplay wise though? It's incredibly subpar, the exploration element is alright but the design of the actual enemies you occasionally have to avoid being murdered by is so boring instead of being tense, the AI is beyond inconsistent. I made fun of the monsters in Amnesia 1 for looking extremely goofy, but at least the first 2 hours of that game are pretty damn tense when the monsters are obscured and only a vague threat and its only until you first die to the main enemy that you realize how goofy they are, and even still that game was spooky in environmental design and the puzzle solving segments were very good. Can't say the same for SOMA, some of the puzzles are decent enough, but mostly it's just trying to walk from point A to point B or wandering aimlessly in a wide open area to find a needle in a haystack. At least it's decent as a storytelling device, and I got it for $3 while it was on sale anyways so I can't complain too much. If I bought it at the $30 regular price I would feel scammed beyond belief, though. Please don't buy this unless it's on sale for really cheap, if ever.
