49). The Haunting of Hill House (2018). Episodes 5 & 6 (1 hr. 10 min./56 min.) Going to an abandoned house in the middle of the night. Umm, okay. But one that's haunted your dreams and brought nightmares to every aspect of your life? Sure, why not? But I do appreciate the way this series is creepy, yet not gory.

There are several days left in October, but I want to thank fushingfeef again for hosting on the Playground this year. And for starting this tradition years ago on the SKMB. Thank you for permitting us to include thrillers/Halloween-themed movies and series that are scary to us individually. Not just horror/slasher flicks. That is why I joined in so long ago. It took me out of my comfort zone once a year and was something I greatly looked forward to.
I didn't know if I would have it in me to participate this year. Life has become too scary for me to allow any extra fear to enter in. I realize many people might laugh at what I deem frightening. And I apologize for that. I have participated in this movie tradition for many years and it has made me feel part of something special. Not sure if I can continue in the future, but this will always hold a very special place in my memories. Thanks again FF and to everyone who has participated and been a part of this legacy.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I thought that the most recent Halloween (2018) was terrible. A movie which made H20 seem like a masterpiece.

Hey osnafrank! I was up late - trouble sleeping (nothing new). Hoping to watch a couple more this year. Nothing too scary though. My personal best was 72. Quite a few years ago, there was an SKMB member named Audra who watched around 105 movies for the marathon! I think she was recovering from knee surgery or something.

28. Prevenge (FTV)
Pregnant widow must satisfy the apparent bloodlust of her unborn child, bent upon revenge.
An astonishing directorial debut for British actress Alice Lowe, who also wrote and stars in this film. This is precisely the kind of film that only writer/director/actors are occasionally capable of producing: something with a truly unique and singular voice. Prevenge is at once a very black comedy and a tragedy, a weird-out, and even a touching drama about grieving and feminine loneliness. You'll laugh, you'll gasp, you'll even think a bit.
Things unfold in the manner of a subjective point of view horror mystery, so we don't always quite know what to believe or think, and answers are gradually arrived at over the course of the movie. But coming in at a brisk 92 minutes, things never really drag, and there are several violent and bloody shocks scattered throughout the film to keep gorehounds happy. It's not always clear how we're supposed to feel during certain scenes--I suspect this could be a divisive film, as some might want a more consistent (or spoon-fed) tone. It manages to stake territory somewhere between Looking for Mr. Goodbar and I Spit On Your Grave, with a dash of Inside. Personally, I can't wait to see where Alice Lowe goes next in her career.

This sounds too much like a goodbye, but I very much appreciate your participation and sharing your thoughts on so many films! I definitely look forward to doing this every year and in 2020 I think I needed this marathon more than ever...something had to be normal this year with so many other things beyond our control! I look forward to seeing you here again!

50). Hannibal (2015). Episodes 11, 12, and the proceeding number. I didn't finish this series before. Probably because (just like in the movie franchise) I lost interest in the Red Dragon. Not sure why. This series was so incredibly well done (probably the worst choice of words!). Still can't believe it was originally aired on network tv. Mads Mikkelsen is absolutely brilliant and flawless.

29. Night of the Lepus (FTV)
Giant rabbits menace a small ranching community.
So bad, it's good! This 1972 film takes itself so damn seriously, populated by actors like Janet Leigh (Psycho), western mainstay Rory Calhoun, academy award nominee (but not for this film) Stuart Witman, DeForest Kelley (Star Trek's Bones), but this just makes the film even funnier. The giant rabbit effects are done with a combination of optical effects and briefly seen costumes, but mostly they just put the rabbits on miniature sets that look like they were purchased at the local hobby train store, and let them run amok in slow motion. There's also extensive use of scratched-up stock footage of rabbit hunts and military vehicles, and a deadpan news announcer to set the stage.
The highlight for me was when the patrons of a drive-in theater were enlisted by the military to help herd and corral the rabbits to an electrified section of railroad. The general pulls out a megaphone and stands in front of the movie screen (which is playing a Tom & Jerry cartoon) and says with a straight face: "Attention please! There is a herd of giant killer rabbits headed this way! Please proceed to the nearest exit and await further instructions!" And the patrons all groan and honk their horns at this interruption to their night out.
I watched this with my 15-year-old daughter who is a big fan of Godzilla movies but had never seen any of the other "giant creature" films of the era, although by 1972 this was pretty darn creaky stuff. She just kept thinking the rabbits were cute, even when their buck teeth and fur were drenched in fake blood.

I wanted to say two things, one, that i totally agree about thanking Fushingfeef! and two, that i sincerely hope you will find it in you to take part for many years to come. And i dont think you have anything to apologize for. What someones find scary is just laughable in another persons eyes. And thats how it should be. What scares us or creeps us out is very individual. I often take inspiration from your lists and would certainly miss them.

51). Hocus Pocus (1993). Can't believe I've never seen this before. I'm a huge Kathy Najimy fan. It was pretty cute. Bette Midler was excellent. Loved Binx! I cried at the end.

52). The Other Lamb (2019). Interesting plot. A female cult. Very slow movie with plenty "animal stuff" (wasn't surprised because of the title). The one male actor, the Shepherd, I've seen before in a cult-y movie. The Invitation, I think. As I've stated many times, I don't like ambiguous endings. But this wasn't the worst.
