Y'all don't have a problem with mosquitos in that climate do you Notaro? We HAVE to have screens on all the windows here because of them. Morning and cool evening and night is when they are terribly active here. The high heat and low cold sends them into hiding. I like the brief periods of spring and fall when you can have all the windows and doors wide open and not have to worry about them or the flies. Gorgeous pictures of Kilmashogue! Want to see all you want to show us. Speaking of flies, yesterday Andy killed seven of them. I asked him if he left them in the main floor bathroom (floating in the toilet) to demonstrate that he had done so, but he says they all congregated in there as if they were attracted to the light coming from the window.
Then Josh started killing a few using his ball cap (last night as we saw some buzzing around).
I had my trusty fly swatter and managed to get a couple.
We normally don't have that many flies getting in the house.
Yuck - they are that buzzy kind.
There may be one left - just hoping it will land somewhere so I can get rid of it
This is what we need! (Wish I had one right now)
I had one last year but it wasn`t very voracious.

Want to see all you want to show us. Yes Wolf we do have mosquitos here in Ireland but with the exception of the last couple of years we've never really had prolonged good weather for them to be a problem, frankly wasps are a bigger problem here, nasty little b******s. I remember working in a house which had a wasp's nest in the attic and they were making their way down into the main part of the house making it impossible for me to carry on working, I was standing outside in the front garden wondering what I could do when my boss drove in and got out of his car, seeing me standing there he asked "What's the problem", I said "There's more wasps in the house than there is outside the house". He went inside and came back out pretty quickly waving his hands over his head, "I see what you mean" he said. End result was we had to get an exterminator. Ow! sometimes we get bee's nesting in walls and attics of homes. They remove and relocate them. Haven't heard of our wasps doing that here. They are vicious beasties when they get going. I was lucky, I never ran into to that situation on any of my jobsites! lol, my boss at the time would have suggested: "Well, try to work around them like you do the other subs. We got to get this job done!" I have a cows skull on a post out front, and sometimes in the summer the wasps will come and start trying to nest in the hollows of the bone. I spray OFF repellent all over it and they move on to better places. I just hate poisonous bug sprays. The Deet has been a great alternative for me. Glad you didn't get stung!

Told ya!!! I still like them some, and won't be scared of them. I leave them alone, they leave me alone. I got stung once when I was a little kid. It was MY own fault! I was poking at their nest.

The red wasps and regular hornets fly around my head and even land on my hands and arms. They don't sting me, nor do the bees. It's the yellow jackets I'm leery of the most.

I've bees land on me, crawl around and then fly away. But not wasps/yellow jackets. I never swat at any of hem, that just pisses them off and gets them all defensive and offensive. Peace breeds peace.

Peace breeds peace. That must be it. I don't swat at them and they make their nest right under the back door. Cohabitation, heh heh. I'm relaxed around snakes, too, provided they aren't poisonous. Last summer I'd read in the sun on the back deck and a black rat snake crawled by my feet and hung out on the aluminum ladder propped against the house. It looked like tar as it oozed between the wood boards under the deck.

It looked like tar as it oozed between the wood boards under the deck. I don't mind the wasps passing through, or trying to build a nest, but they ain't stayin' and camping out. I'm not having that. I'm like you with the snakes, they don't bother me. The large (and poisonous) ones stay down in the creek. But if they want to come up and get into the neighbor hood, they're looking at decapitation and becoming an appetizer before our dinner. Scooby snacks. Water Moccasins around down there for the most part. Only the usual little grass snakes around the foundation of the house. I find them all the time when I'm cutting out the suckers from the bases of the Crepe Myrtles. I give them a pet and set them loose in places where they be undisturbed. I don't let the cats see them, they'll just play with them till they die. Not too much problem with mice or rats. I got a little Tom Cat who is a fine ratter/mouser. Had a couple of mice and 3 small rats show up this past winter and he made short work of them. He is such a good baby boy.

Today I am going to try to clean the kitchen -- scrub the cupboards and everything else in that room.
That will be about it other than some sewing tonight.
I hope you had a good day of it Alexandra. I like doing that spring cleaning type thing on cabinets and book cases and such. And I do enjoy washing the windows too. I know, I'm a weirdo. Not a clean freak, but every 3 to 6 months or so, I get a kick out of getting domestic and making things nice. What are you sewing?

I know the feeling as to givng it a good clean, makes me feel better too. I couldn't do the kitchen -- getting on the ladder to do the walls and ceiling were to soon for this knee. So I did the bedroom instead. Had done the walls and ceiling in there a few days ago. Sewing, well just finished making a Christmas Tree Skirt and a Christmas Stocking. Now I am making a set of 8 place mats, double sided. It takes me a long time to make something as I
don't have a sewing machine (and don't like them anyways). Everything I make is sewn by
hand. I make tablecloths with napkins and some shape of centre piece or matching layers of chiffon to go over the tablecloth. Simple stuff, but I like doing it.
Some I give as Christmas gifts and sometimes friends see something and want to buy it. Have been thinking about doing something for my own dining room table.
Thanks for asking (boring stuff but I enjoy it).

Nah! Not boring at all. You have my admiration woman. (I loathe sewing machines too!) By hand IS better. Good stuff you got done today, it does my heart good to hear about it. I hope your knee keeps on keeping on getting right again. Be careful, don't over do.

Yep we have all manner of peanut butter here neesy, my daughter loves the stuff, she puts it on her pancakes and she'll use in when she makes a cheesecake. Neesy Read your post and wondered where did you find the Lady Grey Tea? Can't seem to find it
around the Okanagan.
Do you like the kind in bags? (not loose leaf) - we can get it all over the place here - IGA was where I got it I think.
Twinings in the blue box
I would be happy to send you a box - it's been a while since I sent anything in the mail to anyone lately!
I saw on The Amazing Race Canada that they were in a place in BC that started with K and immediately thought of you but it turned out to Kamloops!

I saw the commercial with Kamloops and The Amazing Race too. Not much exciting in Kelowna this summer. All this rain seems to be keeping tourism way down. Will PM you about the tea, neesy. Thanks!

Andy was talking about driving out to Edmonton Alberta once he gets the all clear from his thoracic surgeon. He was stationed at CFB Suffield way back in the 70s when he was in the British Army (the Catering Corps).
Sounds like he wants to take a trip down memory lane
