Well I gave up on my herbs and got rid of them. Just didn't grow this year, a first for me. Neesy I think you are right, too much water. All the rain we had in June and first 2 weeks in July. Did move them back but with the wind blowing the rain in that direction it didn't help. Oh well, maybe next year. Am going to get a couple of wooden stools at the thrift store and use them as stands for large pots of flowers. I know what I want to plant, just don't know the name of them. Only thing I am sure of is they are yellow.

That idea of getting wooden stools is very good - maybe you could find stands of different heights too
Not sure if you're following my squirrel story but # 12 has been relocated now
I have about 15 sunflower plants that are getting quite big - I hope they make it to the stage where they get heads before it gets too cold here smilie_wet_162

Supposed to get a 30cm of snow in Northern B C (Fort Nelson) tonight. Seems early for it. Someone was telling me all the Hallowe'en stuff has been on the shelves of the $ Stores for 2 weeks now. Really early for that.
How are the tomatoes doing? I noticed the sunflowers around here are about half the size they usually are. Had my first Okanagan peaches and tomatoes this weekend. They are smaller than usual but good flavour. Going to Kelowna Farmers Market on Labour Day weekend, love the Fall market. I think a few stools for flowers will be my limit, this balcony is very small.

@alexandra
The big tomatoes are starting to change colour and are not quite red yet but the baby tomatoes have been ripe for a while now.
Sunflowers are quite tall - I remember when I started them from seed. They have no flower heads yet but I'm hoping for a nice September.

Just pulled up a few weeds from our back lawn - now I am taking a little break.
I had to put one plant in the compost - my lemon basil, as it was looking quite sickly. It had yellow leaves and some were also turning slightly brown.
Plus I noticed one celosia out front was very faded looking so that also went into the composter.
Shoot! I wonder if it is too late to rescue that celosia - I was just reading that the flowers fade naturally. Maybe if I removed them it would produce some new ones.
I just threw it in sideways and it's still attached to the dirt, plus it rained last night and I left the lid off the composter.
Wish me luck! I hope it's not too late animierte-smilies-wetter-061
