Once upon a time in Venice
When a group of drug dealers captures Steve's dog, he tries to rescue it. Before returning the dog to his master, Spyder, the gang leader, arranges for Steve to complete a few tasks.
The cast was great, especially Jason Momoa as "the bad guy". Bruce Willis is amiable, John Goodman underused.
The script is awful and the goofy stunts are not as entertaining as you expect them to be.
I liked that one. 😊

The Pelican Brief
A law student writes a legal brief on the reasons that made Khamel, an assassin, kill two Supreme Court justices. When she learns that her theory is accurate, she gets attacked by assassins.
Brilliant. Both Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington are superb. Great interpretation of the John Grisham book.

I haven't had any time to watch movies lately, (been falling asleep to "The Strain" these nights) but last night I got to watch 2021's "Voyagers" with Colin Farrell, Lily Rose Depp and Tye Sheridan. Not bad. Kinda like....
"Lord of the Flies" in space with girls and a little of "Passengers" thrown in.

The Menu
The film, penned by Will Tracy and Seth Reiss, "focuses on a young couple who visits an exclusive destination restaurant on a remote island where the acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu.
This movie delivers, in the most unexpected of ways. It is probably one the most strangest and yet extremely absurd thrillers that I've ever seen for a long time.
Great ensemble of Actors. Ralph Fiennes has always been a great actor, but in this movie, he truly shines.

RocknRolla
A hefty real-estate scam attracts the attention of the city's underworld as many ruffians and unscrupulous officers scramble to get their share of the loot.
Good enjoyable movie. Great plot, great cast & great acting.

The King's Man
This is a prequel to the other two movies. I enjoyed it but it's not as good as the Secret Service movie (the first one).

Fall
For best friends Becky and Hunter, life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits. However, after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down.
This movie was recommended by Uncle Steve. Click Me
Entertaining for sure, but I find it hard to care about characters whose decisions are so questionable.
The plot was good, the cinematography was very clever . Overall the movie is worth watching, it definitely has good and bad points.

Yesterday the wife and I watched The Discovery on Netflix. It was an excellent movie, and a very strange one for Robert Redford to be in.

We watched Hell Hole last night. Besides being a horror film, it had a satisfying ending. As my son would say, play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

The Pale Blue Eye
Veteran detective Augustus Landor investigates a series of grisly murders with the help of a young cadet who will eventually go on to become the world-famous author Edgar Allan Poe.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. A dark, gritty murder mystery thriller set in the 1830s. The settings/scenery were stunning, both interior and exterior. The cinematography is stunning and uses natural lighting that creates a dark and ominous tone.
The cast is superb,: Christian Bale, Harry Melling, Gillian Anderson, Toby Jones, Timothy Spall, Simon McBurney and Robert Duvall.
Melling is a name to watch ! Christian Bale...well he could read a shopping list and it would be great.

Yesterday I watched “Mangler Reborn”. yes….a terrible B sequel to King’s “The Mangler”. Terrible, but I was able to watch it. ”Phantasm” Reggie Banister was in it. I love Reg. And that car of his.
Then I watched another terrible B movie, that turned out to be pretty good. ”Evil Eyes” with “Full Metal Jacket” Adam Baldwin and Udo Keir. A not bad “King Flavored Flick”.
Found both on tubi.

Found both on tubi. Even the stills are terrible... A great candidate for our SPECIAL “I don’t care! I’m watching it!” category in our Movie Madness lists.

John Wick (Finally)
The film is dark, brutal and everything an extremely serious action film should be. The body count is...amazing.
A must watch action flick with abundance of assassinations.

SK’s “Riding the Bullet” Thoroughly enjoyed that, and will rewatch it soon. Awesome cast and performances, though I would have liked to see more of Matt Frewer.
Cool how they made George’s car a red and white Plymouth Fury, instead of a Mustang.
And Greg Nicotero was in on this film too, if I’m recalling correctly. Everything was very well done.👏
