Me and the fuzzball just had a rewatch of Polanski’s great Fearless Vampire Killers. Always loved this flick, ever since I caught a late night showing of it on channel nine when I was, like, ten. Such rich production values for a late sixties comedy. Looks better than a Hammer movie. And funnier. But...hrrrmmm...I’ve always felt, in light of what happened to Sharon Tate a little later, there’s an unintentional extra level of creepiness about the whole production. Anyhoo, great movie. If I'm on a movie trivia gameshow, you're my partner.

This is the end.
n Hollywood, actor James Franco is throwing a party with a slew of celebrity pals. Among those in attendance are his buddies Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. Suddenly, an apocalypse of biblical proportions erupts causing untold carnage among Tinseltown's elite and trapping Franco's party in his home.
Probably the funniest mix of death and destruction.

The Thin Man (1934) w/William Powell and Myrna Loy (natch)...oh, and Skippy as Asta, and mmmmmMaureen O’Sullivan (me Tarzan, you gorgeous!). Is there a cooler (or drunker) Detective Duo than Nick and Nora Charles? No.
Ahhh...just gimme a time machine, I’d gladly live during the Great Depression—no problem. Make my living writing for the pulps. Just ain’t no market for the kinda fiction I write anymore. But I digress, I guess.

Spider-Man: Far from Home
Choke! Retch! Raaaallph! Oh god...only about a half hour in and I just couldn’t do it anymore. They should call this one Disney-Man: Far From Spidey. Blechhh. I’d rather watch the old 70s tv version with Nicholas Hammond. At least that show let Spidey grow up. I wanna hop on a goblin glider, go kidnap Tom Holland and throw him off a bridge.

"Alien Nation"! James Caan, Mandy Patinkin, Terence Stamp, plus other blast from the past character actors! (I know I saw Jeff Kober under the prosthetics as Strader. And I know Porter, from the slag bar, but can't remember the actors name.) It's good stuff Maynard!
AHHH! a .454 Casull!!! 😃......I want one.🙃🙂
Saw the original "Cat People" with Simone Simone the other night. (I'm thinkin' muskrat man might like that one, and make Simone his latest and greatest French verichrome flicker flick squeeze. 😊)

See, I went ahead and watched the rest of far From Home, and...well...it was pretty good. I mean, once Nick Fury showed up, and the action finally started, I dug it. I just didnt dig all the ‘teenagers with smartphones’ crap, as my Spidey graduated from high school in, like, 1965. But, seeing this film as less a Spidey movie, and more an MCU Avengers flick, well...ok. With that mindset, I enjoyed it.
Im still gonna order me a box set of the old Nicholas Hammond show one of these days. Seeing him pop up in Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood (!?) kinda got me in the mood to revisit that ultra corny 70s webhead show.

And when its Spiderman, you expect it to be special. The Sam Raimi films were amazing (pardon the pun), and demonstrated what could be done with the source material. Heck, I enjoyed the first Amazing Spiderman film even, but you're right, these really aren't Spiderman films, they are MCU films in an Avengers style. Man, I remember the old Nicholas Hammond show, man, the nostalgia.

Darkest Hour—oh man, doggone Gary Oldman does it again, this time as a spot on Winston Churchill. Man, such a great flick, got me all riled up to fight the damn Nazis for King and Country—made me wish I was British, I tell ya.
And on a lighter note:
Stan and Ollie—holy moly, Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly knock it out of the park as Laurel and Hardy—especially Coogan.
Think tonight Ima eat some chili and have a rewatch of James Cagney in White Heat. Top udda world, ma!

Green Room.
A punk rock band becomes trapped in a secluded venue after finding a scene of violence. For what they saw, the band themselves become targets of violence from a gang of white power skinheads who want to eliminate all evidence of the crime.
I enjoyed this one. The film does a good job when it comes to the main characters coping with terrifying and unexpected events . Anthony Yelchin did a terrific job .

Watched a movie from 1997 called Contact - interesting ideas and the special effects weren't bad
Maybe it would have been better on the big screen

Watched Collision (2013) about a carcrash in Sahara. The survivors all have hidden agendas and no one is a good guy. I rooted for Jaimie Alexander who plays a bad girl but still.... No one in this movie you could trust and noone you would like to meet in a dark alley, oh, well, perhaps Alexander. Not great acting, no big names but the two characters played by northafrican actors were actually good. OK but not more.
