k....Danke. 😂
'Berg is sometimes used as a kind of slang term for a town here...I THINK... I may have the spelling wrong on that, and it's probably supposed to be burg. Lady spideyman knows, I am sure. 🙂
Example :
"Mike's hometown was a sleepy little berg/burg out in the middle of nowhere." Interesting, didn't know that. Hmm, isn't there a St. Petersburg in the USA ?
Btw: Burg is the German Word for Castle or sometimes Fortress. There is a city St Petersburg about 50 miles from were I live in the west coast of FL.

Example :
"Mike's hometown was a sleepy little berg/burg out in the middle of nowhere." burg /bərɡ/ Learn to pronounce noun an ancient or medieval fortress or walled town. "the fortified burg was a center of early growth" INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN a town or city. "they performed in any burg big enough to have a theater" I should have known/remembered half of that. It's true what they say, 'if you don't use it...you lose it'. And I don't have much to lose. 😂
Ohhh...I didn't want you to go and look it up! Thank you Lady. 🙂
I need to MAKE THE TIME to look stuff up!

Okay, here are two of the most important German words ! Can't believe i've never told you.
"Aha": Used in conversations, Often accompanied by an eye roll or glance at the clock.
Meaning: Pretend that you're really interested in something/Topic, but actually, you don't give a F*** about the stuff, you hear.
And now, the most Important Word.
"Tja"
Especially in Northern Germany, often followed by "Is halt so" or "Kannst nix (pronounced Knicks) machen". Almost always accompanied by a Shrug.
It's close to the English "Well'", but much more versatile. It's like a vocalized sigh or shrug, and used for things you can't change.
Spilled a Drink ? Tja Wanna eat Cereals, and the Milk gone bad ? Tja Have a smoke on the porch, and suddenly the moon is falling toward Earth ? Tja, kannst nix machen.(Inhales)

English: Doppelganger Almost the same, huh ?
Literally, double walker.
I'm not 100% sure, but i think it has it's origins in german folklore. The Doppelgänger was an evil twin or a wraith, and to meet one was a sign , that death is imminent.

Ah! I see. ”…that death is imminent.”😊 That”s cool, and good to know. Danke Schoen, Bossman. 😊❤️ “Guten Tag” - “Good day!“ (As in ‘hello’, a greeting)
”Guter Tag” - as in, “it’s a ‘good day’.
”Gruse!” - “Greetings!”
Are those above correct, Commander osnafrank ? 🙂
And one more question (for now 😆) how do I know when a word should be capitalized?
I’ve notice that many words in German have first letters capitalized, where in English they would not be.
Dankeschön mein freund 😊

All nouns start with a capital letter. Generally, pronouns are not capitalized, except "Sie" , the formal "you".
