[irony] My neighbours are back [/irony] These are the loud ones with the yapping dog? This made me realize I haven't seen my loud dog-talking neighbor in days. I hope Missy & Tina, the pitbull sisters, haven't gobbled her up. One thing that's making me happy today--it looks like someone tried to break into my car last night. They pried 2 windows open, but didn't get any further than that, so smilie_girl_freude

As long as my car is still sitting there in one piece, I'm good. AqoOTBBrEtxQcNfJjaDD

Isn`t it wonderful to see someone tried to break into your car ? Had 3 of those wonderful moments.

Hah! Yeah...It's wonderful when they don't succeed in getting away with anything or doing any real damage. I haven't had a car stolen, but dozens of bikes have disappeared over the years. At my old house, we did have a wonderful burglary in 1991. We were away over Thanksgiving weekend and some wonderful people came in and helped themselves to tv's, vcr, stereo equipment ,jewelry and basically anything they could pawn. I spent a few wonderful sleepless nights on the couch with a baseball bat, afraid they might come back for more. They didn't, which was....wonderful.

What made me happy today? (besides the fact that so far nobody has tried to break in) - I got to sleep in a bit and I guess I needed it as I feel much more refreshed than yesterday
So what made YOU happy today Frank?

Is it safer in Scottsdale? No, not really. My father-in-law was a patent attorney, and did very well for himself, so they always lived in really nice , expensive neighborhoods in Scottsdale-and they were still burglarized twice--one time while they were sleeping. Granted, this was back in the 90's and I'm sure there are better security systems for homes now, ...but that doesn't change the fact that there are still people who will TRY to get in.

What made me happy today was seeing some bees out back around the flowers - I planted some bee balm or borage plus they were on a flowering catnip plant as well.
My new sunflower seeds came in! Thank you Cheerios cereal company
My neighbor must have started her sunflowers a lot earlier than me - hers are at least 6 to 8 feet tall already

Wow, so you actually have to try to attract the bees? Is that because it gets cold at night where you live so they stay in the hives? We have an excess of bees around here....I got stung (again!) last week. The thing that's making me happy for the past couple of days is that one of my sons is having an on-going discussion with me, through texts, about the Rocky movies. It's hilarious, but also informative--I had no idea he was such an expert in the field of Balboa!

As far as attracting bees, once my neighbor's giant sunflowers start blooming I think we won't have to worry about that. (Plus I planted something called Bee Balm or Borage)
Sorry to hear you got stung!
It's the darn yellowjacket hornets that I dislike - got stung once on my inner thigh - man - did that sting!
Here's a blurb from the link:
Did you know 1 of 3 bites of food we eat is made possible by bees and other pollinators? Bee populations in Canada remain unstable. It's time to be a Keeper and help Bring Back the Bees!

Interesting! I hope the sunflowers do the trick. I wish I could send you some of our bees. I get stung 3-4 times every summer. If I'm outside with a group of people and there are bees around, I guarantee you that I'm the one the bees will go for... I don't know why. You might know this already, but if you get stung, you should scrape the stinger out of your skin with the edge of a credit card. Never pull out the stinger with tweezers because that releases the venom, which makes it hurt A LOT more.

Thanks for that tip (I'm just picturing it now)
My sister in Toronto is the same - she said "Why in the world would you want to attract bees to your garden? Do you WANT to get stung?"
She is a bit of a shut-in and does not garden

Never pull out the stinger with tweezers because that releases the venom, which makes it hurt A LOT more. It must be because you are so sweet (or maybe you smell like flowers?) Thanks to the tax cut (sales tax from 19 to 16%) i have saved ,brace yourself, 1,05 € on my purchase today. 16% sales tax?
So is this like federal and provincial added together?
Here we pay 5% goods and service tax (federal) and for my province it is
7% retail sales tax - so all told 12%
