Here's what's making me happy today: On Saturday, I lost one of my favorite earrings. I thought I lost it when I took off my mask, after walking out of a store. I even made a trip back to the store to look around the exit area and in the parking lot, but no luck. This morning, I walked out the front door to put out some mail and there's my missing earring, on the doormat. I have no idea who put it there or where it was found--probably a lot closer to home than I thought, but still....a little freaky, but a really cool surprise.

The only thing that made me feel happy today was actually sitting down to eat a normal supper - it has been so hot we didn't feel like a regular meal.
We are having a new meatloaf recipe and some roasted potatoes with cheese sauce

One of my sons lives very close by and said he saw this on someone's driveway while he was walking to the store this morning. I might have to take a walk and see it for myself.

I've gotta say - for a guy who's drinking, this guy doesn't look all that happy!

😁I didn’t walk over in time to see the stone-head drinking his beer, but when I was walking the other day, I saw that someone had the message “ I Am Dickhead” written in big white letters on the rear window of their car. It didn’t look like graffiti, so I couldn’t figure out if the car owner wrote it on purpose, like that was his nickname or what.🤔

The happiness for today lies in this little bit of (good?) news: the AC needs to be fixed, but the problem right now is that it won't shut off, which means it's nice & cool in my house. smilie_girl_freude

And even more good news...the AC guy came over and fixed it and only charged me 25 bucks. Now it shuts off when it’s supposed to. Thank Gosh because it ran non-stop all weekend. I would imagine it’s a lot more humid in Wisconsin, though...so you need AC as much as we do. What’s a typical summer day there, like 85 and humid?

I'd say that's about spot on. Humidity is like a thick wet blanket draped over your shoulders that you can't remove unless you go someplace cool. It can get very oppressive.

It can get very oppressive. Yeah, it definitely makes things uncomfortable. We have monsoon season here - it usually starts in July or August ( any day now) and goes into the beginning of September. That’s when we get rain on top of the 110-115 heat. It’s not my favorite.

No AC here today - it's about 70 F or 21 C - nice and cool but it should get hotter later in the day - all that rain yesterday helped to cool things down considerably

I know - I don't need to keep track! lol
wow - 465 guests? What the heck? These must be robots
Is anyone here a big Dark Tower fan?

Smoked fish, no. Cheddar yes. Pizza, hell yes. I don't know all that much about Scandinavians - up here we have lots of Icelandic people up in a place called Gimli (north of Winnipeg)
We used to like going to the Icelandic Festival but I suppose that will be cancelled this year - it's usually held at the beginning of August on a long weekend
That's why I made the comment about smoked fish - when we were there we saw a lot of signs at the ends of peoples driveways advertising smoked fish for sale
This is Gimli - it's on the west side of Lake Winnipeg

That looks very serene. That's a legit postcard shot right there.
Scandinavians are people who hail from Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, etc. Back in the day, we were the fabled Vikings. AqoOTBBrEtxQcNfJjaDD

Do you know where the name Gimli comes from? And no, its Not from the Character in Lord Of The Rings! It is much older and Tolkien of course know that. Gimli comes from Norse Mythology abd it is a place, not a person. When the great battle between Good and Evil is held in Ragnarök righteous survivors are foretold to live in Gimli. Many of the names in his books comes either from Norse or Celtic mythology.
