Hmmm...just had a couple of blipvert thoughts on the title for the whole Story.
"Of Mortals and The Were"
( osnafrank , @kurben , edwardjohn , or anyone else ...from what I recall , probably incorrectly knowing me🙄 ... the word 'were' , specificly used in 'werewolf' or 'wereanimal' 'werecat' etc. comes from Old English with Germanic influence ...or something like that...My question to you 3 is this : is there an older, or alternative spelling to this word? Like 'weir' or 'wier', I think I might be remembering reading about that at some time or other. Old English, Teutonic, Nordic/Scandinavian?.....I don't have time to look it up right now.....thanks guys)
"The Wolven"
"Werewolf Hunters"

"The Wolven"
"Werewolf Hunters" I don't know wolfie. Were, sound like the German Word "Wir"
Wir means We
So, Werewolf could mean "We're Wolf(s)" (No guarantee)

Don't know if this helps...
Though some doubts about the word’s etymology still remain, "werewolf" probably comes from a prehistoric West Germanic compound whose constituent parts gave Old English "wer" ("man") and "wulf" ("wolf"). The word is related to Middle Dutch "weerwulf" and Old High German werwolf. Another word for "werewolf" is "lycanthrope," which traces back through Latin to a Greek combination of "lyk-" (from lykos, meaning "wolf") and "anthropos" (meaning "man"). English also sometimes makes use of the French-derived word loup-garou, from Old French leu ("wolf") and "garoul" or "garulf" (a word of Germanic origin meaning "werewolf").

Thanks Dio!
(I always liked the word Lycanthrope and it's origins, etymology 😊)
I was already thinking of a French type reference also. The French...lupe garou...I am sure that is an incorrect spelling of the 'Cajun style' corrupted true Francais.
(Thinking on some old world backstory type stuff at the moment. Nothing too much or too complicated. I'm going to make the very best use of my 750 words that I can. And have all relate to this present day scenario we got going on!...sorry guys...thinking out loud helps me to get it on! Right along with a few shots of Tequila, of course. It's my elixir.😊 )
Yep! That helps muchier! 😊
NOW THEN!...I will be very happy to hear if Kurbie can give us some input on Nordic/Scandinavian influences. AND I will later have another question for him!...it's cool stuff Maynard!...I think so at least. Hope you guys will.
And Dio, I'll pm you, with a question about something else when I take a break later, about artwork...etc.... (not going to bore the crap out of everyone here, just YOU bub! 😆😉)
Dio, thank you very much for all your help!
That goes for all the rest of you guys too! Love you all, buds! 😊

wolf, in case @kurben isn't around for a bit, here is something you might find interesting about werewolves in Norse mythology. I've been interested in it ever since we started talking about a werewolf story.

Damn Dio! That symbol is exactly one of the things I was thinking of, I have seen that before, when researching some things (vids etc...) on Norse Mythology. I am not as familiar with it as I am Greek Myth. I'll watch that as soon as I can. Thank you.

I've written a few werewolf stories in my time, I like to use the myth of Fenrir in them when I can. He was the son of Loki and the father of wolves

In the event you thought you were versed in "werewolf-ism," consider:
The werewolf is a mythological animal and the subject of many stories throughout the world—and more than a few nightmares. Werewolves are, according to some legends, people who morph into vicious, powerful wolves. Others are a mutant combination of human and wolf. But all are bloodthirsty beasts who cannot control their lust for killing people and animals.
Many so-called werewolves from centuries ago were in fact serial killers, and France had its fair share. In 1521, Frenchmen Pierre Burgot and Michel Verdun allegedly swore allegiance to the devil and claimed to have an ointment that turned them into wolves. After confessing to brutally murdering several children, they were both burned to death at the stake. (Burning was thought to be one of the few ways to kill a werewolf.)
Peter Stubbe, a wealthy, fifteenth-century farmer in Bedburg, Germany, may be the most notorious werewolf of them all. According to folklore, he turned into a wolf-like creature at night and devoured many citizens of Bedburg.
Peter was eventually blamed for the gruesome killings after being cornered by hunters who claimed they saw him shape-shift from wolf to human form. He experienced a grisly execution after confessing under torture to savagely killing animals, men, women and children—and eating their remains. He also declared he owned an enchanted belt that gave him the power to transform into a wolf at will. Not surprisingly, the belt was never found.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
