Well.
As our Saturday afternoon movie was drawing to a close, the TARDIS began VWORPING about something on Twitter. I took a gander and found...this.
Yeah. I have no idea, but the Whovian sector of the Twitterverse is exploding as I type. Further updates as events warrant. 😄

As one might imagine, that little teaser is being heavily scrutinized by Whovians, including this one.
Because I don't think that's the voice of David Tennant/the Doctor we're hearing, and that makes me very curious indeed. The teaser was originally backwards, and of course someone reversed it and posted it quickly. In the "reversed" version you hear "Cryptic...I hate that" and many assume that's the Doctor talking, but it doesn't sound like him to me.
Then yesterday a YouTuber named Agnor posted a cleaned-up and "deglitched" version of the teaser, and the speaker's voice is much clearer. I still don't think it's the Doctor, it sounds like someone much older than David Tennant:
It's interesting to me because if it's not him, there's a rather short list of who it could be. Time will tell.

I had the vague idea that any teasing or advertising would be light this weekend due to the Coronation.
Well, that was dead wrong, because here we go again...
Whovian Twitter is blowing up like Elon's last rocket. Excuse me, I need to go find a binary translator...

As I mentioned in the Movie Madness thread, I was offline for a couple of days due to my phone and internet being out. I got back on last night, and found that a third teaser had been unleashed. This one clearly shows Neal Patrick Harris in what many are assuming is the role of the Celestial Toymaker...a character not seen since William Hartnell's time.
After a little digging on YouTube, I found this compilation of all three teasers both in their original form and reversed...which lets you hear what is being said. For the sake of brevity I've just linked it. I don't think there will be any more teasers released before this weekend.
I don't think so. I could be wrong.
But as I said, Eurovision is going to be running at the same time we have our Movie Madness so if you see me running like hell back to the TARDIS console room you'll know why.
Anyway, here's the teaser compilation. Make of it what you will, I gotta go pretend to be an ordinary librarian for a few hours...

Well, it just keeps getting better...
That's on Sunday, after the Eurovision broadcast and the anticipated trailer. The Doctor, Donna, Rose Tyler, and Martha Jones.
This is going to be quite a weekend.

And here we are, gang, hot off the presses. The titles of the three anniversary specials, and Donna Noble summing up our thoughts:

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted in this thread. The hype train is starting to pick up steam as we move closer to the 60th. I came home today to my favorite Doctor waving his new Sonic in my face:
Y'all can make up your own jokes on this one.

Love it, wolf! I'm working my way through the Gen One Doctors now. I wonder how long it took the "Beeb" to realize that first opening sequence made it look like the show's name was "Doctor Oho"...

Oh my stars and flaming garters! Lol, I saw but didn’t see the Oho thing, it just didn’t sink in and register til I read your observation! You know, I was too bent on getting to the ‘bright and shiny fascinations’ to come. 😂
That vid brought back for memories and thoughts on my first introduction(S) to The Doctor. Got a story to share later. 😊
For now here is a fan generated mashup of the 2 most pop Doc’s intro, that other (obviously British) Whovians approved of, in the tuber’s comments.
And another vid I found interesting, and that you’d might like! “I want to know what happens next!”…. “Tag. You’re it.” 😊 …..
Just….wow. That’s so awwwrrrrrsome. 😊❤️

Oh man, I’m getting into the ‘official Dr. Who YouTube channel’ as Jodi Whittaker suggested in that last vid! 😊 This one looks really good! 😱 (I will watch the whole thing after posting and a BRB ) The beginning is GREAT! That’s David Bradley in there! (Followed by Hartnell and onward) I love him! 🥲❤️😊 ….

Yes, I was watching the regenerations not long ago, and speculating whether one of the reasons Tennant has come back is that of all the Gen Two Doctors, his regeneration sequence was the least satisfying. Everybody else either had a companion to explain things to, or at least an awesome speech to give, but poor old Ten was by himself in the TARDIS, crying and whimpering "I don't want to go!" And yes, I know that's his own fault; he forgot he's not a god. I won't say any more in case there are those reading this that may not have seen.
David Bradley is the First Doctor nowadays, since William Hartnell is sadly no longer with us. He does the character very well, right on down to the way One was always holding his lapels. I think they meshed some of his scenes with the surviving footage of Hartnell's last episode to produce the regeneration sequence.
My own favorite regeneration scene is Matt Smith into Peter Capaldi. Beautifully filmed, beautifully scored, and Jenna Coleman's reaction to the new Doctor's cry of "KIDNEYS!" is priceless!
And Jodie's, of course, because she was so cheerful about it. And look who arrived at the end of it...

In June of 1980, yes during that years legendary heatwave, we came back to Texas, after a 3 year stint in Nebraska. That summer I discovered Dr. Who reruns on a local UHF channel. For some reason the opening intro, was not the same as what is in this vid below. In later years after talking with a friend from England, we came to the conclusion that what I saw may have been how it was ‘released in the U.S.’ Or, maybe, they just haven’t included that particular part of the ‘intro evolution’ in any of these YouTube vids. 🙂 I discovered that some British comedies and other shows, had some differences from what aired in the UK. Such as “Good Neighbors” which was actually “The Good Life” on the BBC. The reruns I saw weren’t exactly my ‘first time’ meeting The Doctor…..but close, and they explained a lot for me. That’s the story I’ll tell you about later. 😄 …..

My goodness, wolf, such a tease!
I remember those days of yore, when to see anything on UHF (a term we now explain to youngsters), you had to be a contortionist with plenty of tinfoil on hand to "enhance" those rabbit ears.
Maybe that's why we didn't notice how terribly amateurish-looking those early Who episodes were...the reception was godawful to begin with.

Well, after a long period of not much on the hype front, we suddenly have this:
I literally just sat down to this not five minutes ago; I was getting ready for Movie Madness. The DW-oriented Discord server I hang out in thinks it's a tease for a new trailer. We shall see.

Well.
As promised, this dropped yesterday. Usually I get these posted here ASAP, but I was at work at the time and was too tired to do it last night. Better late than never!
There's a lot going on there, but a few things stand out to me:
- U.N.I.T. appears to have forgotten that the Doctor doesn't like being picked up!
- From the way that edit was made, Donna wants to go kick the TARDIS' "arse".
- Blue. Lots of it. As I've been saying since Christmas, these teasers are loaded with blue lighting, blue buildings, blue wardrobe, you name it. There has to be a reason.
- My beloved mad Scotsman...oh my, he doesn't appear to have aged a day since he said "I don't want to go."
