OAN I Will Post Some More Of Them Tommorow. Another cool thread Diz! 😄 I've got a lot I'm thinking of from Greek Mythology and other places too. I'll post when I have some more time. Pegasus has always been one of my favorites too, Sis...since I was a little kid. 😊❤

Here is something for now Dizzy .... In Greek Mythology "Sirens" also referred to as "Mermaids" have been depicted as being part bird, as well as being part sea creature ....with the lower body of a fish like in Dio's pic of that statue. Their descriptions have changed over the ages and from place to place. 🙂

Water Horses abound in Scots and Irish folklore... I find the Irish name too difficult to remember how to spell correctly, and to pronounce. But I do know a Scottish name for them are 'Kelpie'. If I recall correctly they can shift from a pleasant human form into a water horse, or sometimes a water goat...like depicted in the Zodiac sign 'Capricorn'. 🙂

OAN I Will Post Some More Of Them Tommorow. Correct on both accounts Dizzy. I always liked female mythological creatures.
One will kill you with her words, the other with her fangs. Hey... Just like in real life.

Lol!...don't forget the Banshees that scream and b!tch at you to death! 😂 But Banshees are real. Well, according to my mother who encountered one while crossing a stone bridge at night growing up in Ireland. She said the screams were deafening . I actually also saw one too here in this country. Camping out with a friend when I was young, and we both saw it. She was glowing white, a long dress eerily flowing in the breeze but there was no wind, and she was gliding instead of walking. No screams though, but a dead strange silence.

Chimera, in Greek mythology, a fire-breathing female monster resembling a lion in the forepart, a goat in the middle, and a dragon behind. She devastated Caria and Lycia until she was slain by Bellerophon. In art the Chimera is usually represented as a lion with a goat’s head in the middle of its back and with a tail that ends in a snake’s head. "Chimera Personality" -In human beings, a chimera is a person who has two totally different sets of DNA inside their body. It's a bit less dramatic than a fire-breathing monster, sure, but it's still pretty wild.
They can tend to be quite "Mercurial". 😄😉.....

Here is something interesting I found.....
"The World Turtle"
Great A’Tuin is based on some very real mythology. India, China and North America all have some variation on the visual spectacle that is the great turtle that swims the world on its’ endless journey through the cosmos. The phrase “turtles all the way down” is a sentiment used to disregard the mythology, as the idea that the turtle is supported by another turtle, which itself sits on the back of another turtle, which has another turtle between it and the one under....
Fans of the "Dark Tower Books", may find this interesting. 🙂
Here is the link to where I found it:

What we saw looked a lot like this gliding up a dirt road. Hon. I have no doubt you and mother saw those things. I know it happens. 🙂 ....but if it wasn't screaming bloody murder...you dinna see a Banshee. It was another sort of spirit. Clad in white may very well be a good sign.🙂

Although nobody died soon after, so maybe it was just your regular run of the mill ghost.

Supposed to be signs of something dreadful coming, and other things...variations on the whole tale. I really couldn't care less, ghosts of any kind don't bother me. 😊😉
I really like the Irish stories about 'Selkies'.
(a really good movie about that is: "The Secret Of Roan Innish". My grandmother who spoke perfect Irish Gaelic, was very quick to point out that was incorrect, It should have been "The Secret Of Innish Roan". But whatever! It's a really good film! 😊
