Here's a really rough drawing I did pretty quick for my nephew. I drew this for him,
and gave him a short back story to go with it.
(The quill she holds is a gift from Apollo, one his crow's quills.🙂)
I mailed it to him with a long letter,
so I got my sun to take a pic of it before I sent off to him.
The Zippo is for scale.
Don't remember the size of the paper
I used on this one.
He liked it and got back in the good mood to write again,
I'm happy to say.
My mom told me he hung it on his bedroom wall,
I didn't expect that!🙂

....here's another from that higher quality app,
using the 'oil painting' mode.
I hadn't oil painted since I was in my late teens.
( We had a storage building back then , that had been broken into.
hey got paint case with my oils and brushes and EVERYING.
Never went back to replace everything, it would have cost well over a grand to do that)
This isn't very good at all,
(and yaah, it's yet another unfinished thing. Sorry, got a lot of those.)
I started somewhere in the lower center,
just playing around with no idea where I was
going to go with it.
I just came up with this.
I guess you could call it a 'trial and error learning work'.
I was really getting into the different brushes I was using.....

here's a 2 Part Contest Winner.
Sorry, I couldn't find the finished Part II,
must accidently deleted it or something.
The Contest was do something inspired by
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
(lol, anyone who knows me, knows I jumped on hat opportunity😄)
These were not only inspired by that movie,
but also by "Young Frankenstein" and the Lon Cheney SR. film
"Phantom of the Opera",
and Van Morrison!😊

...He was about 13 at the time, If I recall correctly.....

At the risk of sounding like an idiot.....do you draw on paper, or with a computer? My nephew is an artist and he does both....well, not always paper. He was asked to paint graffiti in a children’s playground, to cover up gang tags, and brighten the area, in a really poor area of the city. I think someone else donated the supplies and he and some other artists donated a few weekends. Mainly he does lettering. (Who knew that was a specific art form.) He’s also been taking his son for walks throughout the pandemic and doing chalk drawings and positive messages, just to brighten people’s days.

I do all of my work on paper right now.
All of these (with the exception of the photo with the Zippo)
were done completely on an iPad alone,
using two different art apps.
I have never done any art work on a desk top or laptop computer,
but I will sometime in the future.
Right now I've got money work coming in regularly
and I am working solely on paper.
All these pieces here in this thread are my own personal things,
I did for fun and/or as I was teaching myself how to use the app tools.
The art I do for a living is much better and does not get posted online,
that's part of a work agreement I have. 🙂
You nephew sounds great!
Would love to see some his work if possible.
And that is so good of him and those other artists to have done all that!

This one is from the higher app,
a Hippogryph/Horse Satyr, a "Son Of Chiron and the Amazon".
I would have liked to do more on this one
and have finished him....

Hey Cool Chick!
I came across this "Dragon Seahorse"
I did for my sun, in my pics.
I did not realize it , at the time when I was actually
drawing and coloring him,
that he so looks like this cute lil toy
I posted in that "70's thread" you started for us....
Lol, my subconscious must have
been working overtime
that day! 😄.......
Those pink and yellow colors just looked so good to me at the time,
especially with the blue and green. I wanted to make him look kind of
like a mix of crab, angel fish and seahorse.
As I said before, that apps color palette was pretty limited,
wish I had taken a screen shot of it on the iPad.
Sorry I didn't now, BUT I did find one screen shot I kept
for reference where I mixed some colors by layering one on top of the other.😊
And making this post reminds me that I need to bring a pic of a "Johnny West" action figures to that 70's thread for our cowboy , lol I do remember him telling me he had those when he was a kid too! 😄
