I just remembered about an indie game that never got past beta mode, as far as I know. It basically was a one on one fighting game like Tekken, but with iconic slashers like Jason, Freddy, Michael, and others, and they'd have special abilities, usually abilities they had in the films. Michael would fight hand to hand but hit the right buttons and he'd throw butcher knives, and Freddy had his glove at all times but hit the right buttons and he'd summon powers he had in the films, and Chucky, well Chucky was never totally finished. The graphics weren't bad but sadly, I lost track of the site it was hosted on and I'm pretty sure it never got finished and the site went poof.
I just can't remember the name of it but I'm going to try to find it in the next few days, if its still out there.
I found the unfinished version to be far more fun than Street Fighter, I mean the slashers are cool>

It was fun but it didn't make the list, just didn't spend much time playing it, way too many games were coming out at that time.

A little over halfway through Resident Evil 4 right now, definitely more of a corny action game compared to the more suspenseful horror route the others take, but it's fun as hell once you get deep into it. It really feels like DOOM but in the Resident Evil universe, not to mention how bad the voice acting and physics are that really sells it as comedic, one roundhouse kick will send enemies that are fully grown adult men to the 4th dimension as if their bodies are rag dolls. Not to mention the enemies quite literally have a special animation of them grabbing their crotch in pain if you happen to shoot them in the nether regions.

Personally, I only really like the second game because the only thing that drew me to RE was the Romero theme it had, and while the third had it as well, they focussed more on Nemesis, and he was just a mutated beast, plus I prefer Claire over Jill when it comes to the women in the franchise, but I can't stand Ada. Ada was used to sell the game on the "sex level" like the chunky and huge Marilyn Monroe vampire thing in the newest game is being used, I mean merch wise, there's more Ada merch than Leon merch even though he's the main character.

I wonder if Capcom is gonna remake 4 like they did 2 and 3 recently. I haven't played any of them. The last RE game I played was Zero and then I never finished it, got close, but it's been too long so I don't remember the plot.

Well, I wouldn't say Lady D is only a sex prop. Sure, they definetly were very strategic in showing her early on, but she's also a very well written/acted character. She has got to have the greatest motion capture I've ever seen in anything that uses Motion capture animation for characters, right down to the fact her face and hair looks very realistically like a middle aged woman (which makes sense as she was 44 when she became a vampire and stopped aging physically in the lore) asides from the fact that her skin is pale white. I've only seen Ada once in game so far, I don't really know much about the other female characters (no spoils pls), except for the iconic "Jill Sandwich" line.

Leon was designed in resident Evil 2 to look like Leo DeCaprio so Capcom is always trying to make their characters attractive, they wanted more female gamers but Core won that battle with Tomb Raider. These days most diehard RE fans only really care about Jill, Claire and Ada are popular but they're secondary by comparison. Jill does rock though, and damn, the actress who played her in the second film, they really got the look down right. She looks nothing like Jill n real life but they made her up so well she looked like she came straight out of the video game.

Playing Resident Evil 1 (Gamecube remake) at the moment, well it's certainly neat I have to say the limited save system is kinda pissing me off. I've seen people argue it adds tension, but I've seen it done much better in other games, it just gets annoying. Although, unlike a lot of older survival horror games, the location of Resident Evil 1 is more centralized for the most part, so I can understand wanting to have some limit on saving so the player just can't just book it to the safe room every few minutes. I do like the remake having a decent punishment for not thoroughly taking care of enemies you kill by having zombies you already disposed of, but neglected to burn the body of afterwards, reanimate as the Crimson Heads, a much faster and dangerous enemy (though their name just sounds like they're obsessive King Crimson fans). The thing I hate most about the limited saves is that I always have to redo multiple tasks and puzzles every time I get snuck up from behind from an annoying zombie in a tight corridor, I think it's better when the enemies are a threat to the current tasks and not tasks you've already completed. Silent Hill 1 did this really well by having save points let you save indefinitely but in turn making them few and far between, taking much effort to backtrack to so you just try your best to progress at the task at hand. Though Resident Evil 1 is just something to pass the time right now until I finally get a job (a goal that's currently in an endless rut of no responses from applied jobs) or eventually (if all goes to plan) get to borrow a peer's PS4 for a month or so to finally play Bloodborne, and see if it really is as amazing a (technically) Dark Souls spinoff as I've been told it is, and the fact it's heavily Lovecraft inspired excites me. As a big Dark Souls fan who also really enjoyed Sekiro, I'd love to finally play it. Speaking of Dark Souls, Elden Ring finally got a release date announced, so that's very exciting. The trailer certainly delivered on the anticipation of finally seeing bits of the game that was announced and then went silent for 2 years. (Which I'm glad they're taking their time, to be honest, the people who complained about the devs going radio silent for 2 years with no updates on progress were just asking for another ambitious game released too early and being an unfinished disaster like No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk)

Seriously, it's amazing how hard it is to get one of those things even 8 months after its launch. Goddamn hoarders price gouging it to way beyond it's already very expensive retail price.

Goddamn hoarders price gouging it to way beyond it's already very expensive retail price. Can't fault the flippers for taking advantage of Sony dropping the ball, and its nothing new really. I mean remember Cabbage Patch Kids? They retailed at 15-20 I think, but they didn't mass produce, so people flipped them outside of stores, and they did the same with Transformers. If Hasbro mass produced properly, wouldn't have been an issue, I mean parents got into fist fights over Cabbage Patch kids, and you know damn well, within a year, if that, the kid had the damn toy stuffed in the closet or tossed in the trash. I love goodies, but we let non essentials have to much control of us. Anywho, its gonna be almost 110 degrees tomorrow, not sure if I can game much due to that heat, the fans should handle things unless the others agree to turn the AC, its a democracy after all, I'll be hiding in a cold place.

The Sims really needs to cut back on the weather system in their games, there's all four seasons but for some odd reason, it tends to rain a lot in the game even during the summer, not sure why.
They cut werewolves but they added dolphins which are cutesy but dammit, why can't that werewolf mod work. The maker of the mod ditched the mod a year or two back, so when a newer update for the game came out, the mod stopped working right. They didn't look that great, kind of Lon Chaney Wolfman like, but it was something. They went all out with the vampires though, which is something.
Speaking of werewolves, Bloodlines 2 is going to get, or aleady has, a werewolf expansion to where one can be in a werewolf clan and do tons of new missions. I'll get to it eventually, I played Bloodlines almost all last summer, so I'm still a little burnt out on the Masquerade franchise.
Meanwhile, I'm watching Underworld... which is kind of copy of Masquerade...

Beat the first disc of the Gamecube remake of RE1, at first the limited saves seemed daunting (it is), but I've gotten used to it and have managed to enjoy the game, at least when I'm making significant progress without dying and having to redo everything since the last save. I don't know what it is with Resident Evils on Gamecube requiring 2 discs, especially when it's not even and even split, the second disc usually only coming in during the last 2 hours of the game. I mean, Resident Evil 4 is a pretty big game for gamecube standards, so having to split the data between 2 discs makes more sense, but Resident Evil 1 has a really small file size, so I would assume they'd be wasting money having to make 2 discs for every copy of the game, especially when way larger Gamecube games like Twilight Princess managed to be crammed into a single disc.
Although I understand why the fixed camera angles for late 90s/early 2000s horror games works due to the limited hardware and the fact it creates more tension, I wish the Resident Evil 1 remake, which came out 3 years after the first Silent Hill, changed the way the fixed camera works to how the Silent Hill games did it, where instead of sharp and sudden transitions, the camera had a more natural fixed angle that smoothly followed your character and panned in and out when exploring most open areas. Granted, I understand sharp camera transitions when turning in a narrow hallway, which is a lot of Resident Evil 1 considering almost the entire game is spent inside a Mansion, but even Silent Hill had managed to have more natural and smooth camera even in narrow or cramped locations like the hallways of the elementary school level. I am glad to hear the more recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 changed the 3rd person camera to instead be constantly looking over the character's shoulder, like Resident Evil 4 does, I personally feel it works better for horror games when you see what the character sees instead of a camera that has angles not even focused on the character.

I don't know what it is with Resident Evils on Gamecube requiring 2 discs, especially when it's not even and even split, the second disc usually only coming in during the last 2 hours of the game. I never finished it but it was digital only for the pc. The remake was better than the original and I liked Jill just as much in the remake but I never liked Chris and Barry. There are total cgi animated films based on the games with english dubs, they're not that bad and they make the story in 2 and 3 of the game series make more sense. The first three games in my opinion gel together very well story wise. Best character in the franchise... Wesker. The actor who played him in the films wasn't bad but he was far more sinister in the games, I mean he double crossed his partners and almost got them all killed, but he wants the big money and the t-virus on the black market, talk about a fortune. I like Clare the best after Wesker, she had her own spin off game which had vampires and whatnot, and kept the same POV and style of the first. But people were getting sick of the bad camera angles in 3rd person games, so while I don't enjoy 4 as much game play wise, huge improvement camera wise.

I'm sure I've mentioned this in another thread but my favourite game by far is The Last Of Us. When I 1st learned that naughty dog were making a post apocalypse game I was skeptical. When I saw the first images from it I thought "I don't normally go for zombie games but I need to play this". Thankfully the infected weren't typical zombies, and the story, acting, character development, ambience, music, graphics, even the optional side stories of other random faceless people, they all add up to the best game I have ever played. My previous favourite game - gta san andreas spent 9 years at the top of my list, the last of us has spent 8 so far, and the only game I was expecting to topple it - the last of us part 2 wouldn't even make my top 10. It was a masterpiece and I could ramble on about it all day. I've no doubt I will play it again sometime.

I liked Barry, I liked Jill, considering Chris disappears early in the game if you play Jill I didn't really get to see much of him, of course he's a big part of the story of 7 and 8 too, though. That being said, as much as I enjoyed Village, both the gameplay, story, and characters, people are right to point out how unreasonable Chris is at the very beginning being a pretty big plot hole, I feel like they could've easily solved that hole by just making Ethan (Major Resident Evil 8 plot spoilers) pass out from shock after witnessing his friend barge into his house and shoot what he thinks is his wife (later revealed to be the main villainess impersonating Ethan's wife at the beginning) 7 times. Instead Chris and Blue Umbrella force a still conscious and understandably distraught Ethan into the back of a containment truck without explaining to him what the purpose of seemingly killing his wife and kidnapping him and his infant daughter was until after Ethan eventually confronts Chris 75% of the game later and gets the full story. Well, if I had to order all the Resident Evil games I've beaten so far worst to best, I'd say 1, Biohazard (7), 4, Village (8) While 1 and 7 definitely take the horror aspect more seriously, 4 and Village were just more consistently fun to play overall. With 4 being nothing but an adrenaline fueled over the top Doom-like action/adventure game, and 8 being a very great dark fantasy action/adventure that was mostly more macabre than downright scary, but did manage to genuinely unnerving in areas it wanted to be (especially the cellar of House Benevento, christ). Plus, all of 8's main areas and enemies were very distinct whereas 1 and 7 take place on just a single estate with for the most part generic zombie/zombie adjacent enemies.

For me personally, its RE 2, RE 3, RE 1, RE 4, RE 6, and I never finished 7 so I can't say and the 5th was just lame in a few ways. GeorgieFan2003 Like I said above, I recommend the first three, and Code Veronica since its available on consoles, not sure if they eventually ported it to windows or not. I always liked Claire and Code Veronic is all about her adventure, but it is a spin off. Only good thing about Chris is that Claire is his sister, no Chris, there'd have been no Claire. She's in Code Veronica all the way through I believe, don't think they added a second character, could be wrong. We're talking old games right now so I can't remember every detail.

Code Veronica is old enough to emulate, and I don't think it was ever remade.
