They can't do that without his okay on it, lil Sis. 🙂
Lol, I think it pisses US off a whole lot more than it does King Stephen! 😄 I get frustrated with a lot of movie adaptions too.🙂
...and I NEVER pay attention to what the 'movie critics' say. I always make up my own mind mind about a movie myself.😊
But I am very interested in what all my friends here have to say about 'Firestarter 2022'.
I'm going to look forward to seeing it no matter what. 🙂
Everyone picks on Zac Effron, because he's such a 'popular' pretty boy (in many people's minds) and not that great of an actor.
But I have seen him do A LITTLE bit of good acting in a flick or two....sporadic scenes...might have been flukes.🙄
I'll give him a chance. 🙂 (Probably only ONE chance though.😄😉)
Well If Uncle Steve Ok With It Then I Guess I Am Too. But Yea I Totally Agree With You About Not Listening To The Movie Critics Say Sis I Form My Own Opinions Too. I Really Lookin Forward To This Movie You Probably Already Know I Love Books An Movies That Have To Do With People Having Special Powers An Fire Starter The Best SK Story With That Topic IMO. I Don't Have Any Problem With Zac Effron Either.Actually they can. Once he sells them the movie rights they can do whatever they want. it's how the original Shinning got made or how far out the Lawnmower man got. Once the movie has the right they can do whatever they want and all he can do is get his name taken off. Now, given that he didn't take his name off, he must have been okay with most of how this played out.

Last night we watched the 2022 Firestarter. I think that Drew Barrymore was a better Charlie, but Michael Greyeyes was a better John Rainbird. Michael Greyeyes is a First Nation person, whereas George C. Scott was not.
Anyone else watch it? Not yet. But will eventually.
George C. Scott is a superb Oscar Winner, (though he stubbornly refused to appear at any of the Oscars.) but it was very disappointing to see Rainbird not portrayed by a Native American Indian.
(Trying to think back to that time, when the original was made, and WHO would have been great in that role.)
Michael Greyeyes is a FINE actor in all ways, I have really enjoyed all of the performances I have seen him in!
...but I still gotta say, after seeing Zahn McClarnon in FX's 'Fargo', he would have made an even better Rainbird than Greyeyes. 🙂
I saw it last night and did not like it as much as the 84 movie. The cast seemed kind of dull. There were some changes made to the story which were ok but when Charlie was on the run, the tension just wasn't there. The ending is sequel ready.
Well now, THANKEE Taco Man! ...for that reminder on when the first flick was done! 😊
I am interested in all of the characters in the book, and WHO portrayed them in both movies. 🙂
When it comes to the 1984 version... I'm thinkin' on who was available and really active at the time, as far a Native Americans/Indigenous/First Nations/Native American Indians.
annamarie could most likely help me out with that.😊 We miss you, Miss Anna.
Hmmm....Joseph Fox was still young enough then, mmm....but might not have been old enough to do that part.
Great Will Sampson was gone by then I think. a054 💔 ...and if he had been around and young enough, I honestly don't think he would have been the actor for that role either. His son Jake was too young and inexperienced to be considered at the time, in my opinion. I didn't get to see Jake really do anything until the TV series "Northern Exposure" came on air in the late 80's/early 90's.
Henry Kingi has ALWAYS been a (FINE 😋) great stuntman, but never much got into acting in full length roles. (LOVE his cameos though, like in Carpenter's "Vampires". 😊)
Wes Studi is a great! And would have made a tremendous Rainbird! Can't recall what he may have worked on during that time period.
As far as the 2022 Firestarter goes?
I am sure Michael Greyeyes did a FINE job as Rainbird. But after being familiar with his previous works (including his work on the series "Fear the Walking Dead") I still gotta say Zahn might have done it better. I could very well be wrong about that though. We'll see.🙂
Adam Beach? ...ohhh, I LIKE him. A great actor, but he just would not be well suited for that role of Rainbird. (He was tremendous in the 'Hillerman' PBS adaptions though! 😊 SO WAS 'GREYEYES'! They were BOTH well cast in those! applouse )
I think that David Keith as Charlie's dad is very hard to replace! (...and Drew too, as Charlie) I hope Effron gets at least a :"not TOO terrible" 😄
(And dang...but all this reboot of "Firestarter" stuff, keeps me thinking about the movie : "Push" too. 🙂 )

You have a point there, he did agree to the deal. However there are times though that he had second thoughts.
But you can tell when its a movie he really cares about because he gets input or writes the screen play once he does.

I am only half way done the book, and saw the movie. This was the first king movie mom has seen other then the green mile or shawshank, and she hated it, but oh well. Her reaction made me laugh a bit. I was annoyed with how the handled lot 6, and rainbird confused me, but the actor who plaued him was grewt, and i liked the gjy who played the father. In terms of this and the 1984 moive i am not shure. But i think it may have helped younger people get into kings work

They totally took me off guard with the Firestarter remake by just releasing it on Peacock out of the blue. My bd player doesn't have that app so I will have to wait until its on Prime or Vudu, but I am super curious. The original is one of the films that got me into King's actual books, it may be the first actually, hard to remember. So the remake, its got a lot to live up to. While not totally on topic, I finally sat through all of Cujo, I never watched it from the start till the end, it was always one of those films I'd catch in the middle. Dee Wallace has had an interesting career, or did. I mean she's victimized in the Howling then is the total single mom in ET, which is such an innocent film, and then right back to being victimized in Cujo, and she was torn apart in Rob Zombie's Halloween.

The one that plays Charlie in this remake is the same one that played the little girl with the birthmark in IT Chapter Two.

I think most the remakes are just ok.
Pretty much its hard to be better than the originals.
But must admit I watch all of them at least once.

I realize that certain books of SK would be hard to make as is, but there are certain books that have a perfect three part structure. Fire starter and Pet Sematary are two of these. There should be no needed revisions except maybe to update the times and places (like i thought it was brilliant than in the newest version of Carrie a lot of harassment was online)

There should be no needed revisions except maybe to update the times and places (like i thought it was brilliant than in the newest version of Carrie a lot of harassment was online) The newer version of IT just changed the generation of the Losers, which I thought was cool because it made it easier for me to relate to them and their interests and whatnot, and of course they made things far more graphic since they weren't restrained by FCC restrictions like the network was when they did the TV mini series.
But the new Firestarter, I just don't get it.
Efron did fine as a modern day Andy, I felt his love for his daughter came off genuine and the changes they made to him were fine, but pretty much all the other changes just seemed forced. They said years back they wanted to made Charlie more edgy, which they did in spades, but why did they feel the need to make a child edgy? I mean having her kill a cat and show no guilt, that was beyond out of character for Charlie and made her come off like a future serial killer but with powers, is that what they wanted? The original film then has the epic ending, I mean Charlie just goes 4th of July on the whole compound, which some may have felt was too much but Wanless warned them that her power would get stronger and stronger, and well it did and the end of the original proved that her power was getting more powerful. The new version... I have nothing nice to say about the ending so I'm not going to say anything at all about it.
Maybe it'll be a cult classic 20 years from now... but I doubt it. I see it being tossed in the dump with Firestarter 2, Carrie 2, and the latest version of the Stand. Its just a shame, the cast had the potential to do so much better, it was the writers in my opinion that f'd up.. just my opinion. Down the road maybe it'll grow on me a bit, but for now... eh. When it comes to girls that have psych powers, I'll stick with Eleven. In short, the last good King film I've seen is still Doctor Sleep, they did a great job with that one, and the extended cut is even better.

I thought the remake was all over the place, one thing that stood out was 0 minutes were spent on the experiment at the start and about 5 minutes in the original.
