I've read several of Shirley's books, he is definitely a love or hate him kind of author. Will Danny Miranda sing a song, that's what I want to know. I don’t really care for hearing either him or Jules. Nothing against them. But Buck, Eric, and Ritchie are what I prefer to hear from. Do him and Jules sing? News to me.

My Lovecraft Halloween Marathon/binge so far, what I've finished reading. I plan on hitting "The Festival" next, somebody recommended me "The Outsider" as well, so I might eventually check one out. I'm mostly trying to stick with stories considered "canon" by fans to be part of the main Cthulhu Mythos for the time being. But "The Temple" isn't part of that list so might as well occasionally read a story from outside it I guess.
1: Dagon 2: The Thing at the Doorstep 3: The Temple 4: The Hound 5: Nyarlathotep 6: The Nameless City 7: Azathoth

I have. It's alright. My completed stories so far. 1: Dagon 2: The Thing at the Doorstep 3: The Temple 4: The Hound 5: Nyarlathotep 6: The Nameless City 7: Azathoth 8: The Festival 9: The Call of Cthulu 10: The Colour Out of Space 11: The History of the Necronomicon Colour Out of Space and Thing on the Doorstep are excellent. Call of Cthulu is good but pretty overrated, I think a lot of people like it because Cthulu is probably his most concrete description of one of his monsters, it's not terribly hard to imagine unlike some his more abstract looking beasts. The unfortunate thing about CoC is it's definitely a story where you do see a bit of Lovecraft's more racist side, like how he casually refers to black people as "negroes". It's an unfortunate thing about the man, but I guess being a white man in the 1920s-30s unfortunately made him raised to have those views. Doesn't make me respect his imagination less though, it's just something you have to ignore in order to enjoy his storytelling.

No links to leaked stuff !! I'm not sure if it was leaked in retrospect, it seemed to be a French music site which published it, maybe the band gave them a sample. Did it seem like a leak to you?

Alexander Dumas, who was a half Black Frenchmen (his colonial roots coming from Algeria), used to say that he wished his mother was white, as he believed that his intelligence came from his father's side. Nobody talks about "cancelling" his work. Dumas and Lovecraft are literary giants, and they were products of their time. Judging authors who lived centuries ago by modern standards is ridiculous. Most overemphasise Lovecraft's use of that word, he was more fanatical about his hatred of Jews, but his wife was Jewish, so there is that, but that's not something that is often talked about.

I'm not judging him by modern standards. I'm not being judgmental of him at all. I could care less what a person in a time where racism was normalized thought on the matter. I consider racism in the pre civil rights era to be a fault of society and not the fault of the people raised in it. As long as he didn't kill or Lynch or hurt anybody because of it. I'm just saying it's rather jarring hearing "negroe" referring to black people used casually. I agree people trying to "cancel" people who died over 70 years ago is quite stupid.

edwardjohn. I appreciate the link. But I will not listen to it as I'd rather wait for the album to be officially and legally released before hearing those songs. I feel listening to leaked songs would be betraying my favorite band and their album I've been waiting almost 2 years for. It's less than 2 weeks. I already have pre purchased a physical copy of the album. I'm not going to intentionally participate in leak-listening. thanks.

Its not really betraying the band if you are buying it anyway though, right? I only listened to that one track because I was not all that keen on the last track "officially" released, the Ritchie song. If I didn't like what I heard then I would have considered not getting the album, that's why band's release singles. Its expensive to buy physical albums, but after Stand and Fight I'm convinced.

The simple fact of the matter is that his work is too great to be "cancelled".
