(And this reminds me--I've been meaning to ask if we've got an existing "cooking" thread where we can exchange recipes and such like!)
I'm off from work until Tuesday which I'm grateful for, because the second of our severe cold snaps is going to hit Friday night/Saturday morning. The first one broke a pipe just outside my house, so I'm functioning on emergency water supplies until my neighbor can come look at it later. When it warms up later I'm going to go out and see if I can clear the area around the break so he can get to it. |

No, neesy, this is not usual weather for us. Yesterday morning it was five degrees at my house, and I don't think the heater stopped running until sometime this afternoon. It's in the forties now, and we're expecting freezing rain tonight. Hopefully my neighbor will make it by in time before it gets dark.
Stuff like this is the reason I keep emergency water on hand...it's not my first rodeo. I learned some hard lessons during the blizzard of '93 (you have to melt a lot of snow to get an appreciable supply of water) and the tornado of '94 (sudden silence during a thunderstorm is a really bad sign). But it's helped me to prepare more adequately for stuff like this. It's just flippin' uncomfortable to wear so many layers.

If you live in the southern United States then naturally you're not prepared for extreme temps.
I found this crazy article online that perhaps explains our attitude - up here it seems that the colder it is, the more we talk about it. No - it's not really a competition as such but we have fun talking about it
When Andy was up North (about 1000 miles north or Winnipeg) I would complain about it being minus 30 and he would say "You think that's cold? Try minus 50 lol)

Today is voting day in New Hampshire for the Presidential primary. We'll go out for coffee and vote.
I will be so glad when all the advertisements on TV and in our mailbox stop tomorrow. What a nuisance!

Working on fixing up my make-shift desk in my room, the way I like it.
Mama got me a new bed for Christmas, so my room got rearranged again.
I’m going to charge up my laptop tonight, and see what I can manage to do with it tomorrow. 😊
