I was thinking about the conversation in the Salem's Lot thread, so I looked up some 70's Billboard lists. I just picked 1973 at random and I'm amazed at all the songs that we've already posted here in one thread or another-- 1973 was a good year for Stephen King fans, I guess. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_1973Take a look and post one of your favorites if you can. I didn't even realize this one was from '73--I thought it was a little later.

Yeah, I always thought Steely Dan's hits came later. At least 74 or 75.

The 1975 list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_1975This was when I was old enough to be aware of almost every song listed. There are about 10 that I can't remember by the titles. But what a variety--this goes back to what we were saying about old radio stations. You have Jethro Tull, Olivia Newton John and the Theme From The Rockford Files all on the Top 100, so they probably all got played on the same stations.

You wouldn't believe how many songs I've re-discovered on YouTube. It's glorious.

#44 - Smokin In The Boys Room was a middle school anthem.
It was also the year of Radar Love & Wildwood Weed (another popular one with the 13 year olds - kind of a companion to Smokin In The Boys Room )

Jackie Blue - I forgot about that one - good song

GOLDEN years for 70's music. Simply untouchable.

Well, I practically live in a weird bubble where it still IS 77-78, so ...yeah...those were good musical years.

A funny thing about 1976 is that the Beatles were still on the charts. Got to Get You into My Life was #78.
And a little bonus info: Kiss was #96 w/ Rock n Roll All Nite.
I never knew Kiss & the Beatles were on the charts at the same time.

1978.

Lots of Gibbs on there. If I'm not mistaken, on one given week in 1978, the top ten songs had 2 Bee Gees songs, one Andy Gibb song, and a song by Samantha Sang which featured the vocals of Barry Gibb.
Gibb-o-pa-looza.

I never knew Kiss & the Beatles were on the charts at the same time. I remember the Beatles song was from a compilation album called Rock and Roll Music. The single was released to promote the album and became a hit all over again. I bought the album when it came out and liked it because it was a compilation of mostly Beatles rockers.

Interesting...thanks. Was it a K-tel type of compilation? I’ll have to look that up.
