I voted for Pet Sematary. Would also include Cujo to the list (you know me and animal stuff). I don't think I'll ever re-read Cujo, but have been seriously contemplating re-reading Pet Sematary (and re-watching the movie too - haven't seen it since I was 18).

'Salem's Lot spoilerA little vampire kid can be floating through the air and scratching on a window and I'm fine, but someone threatens a bunny and I am trembling and having nightmares.

IT placed second to Pet Semetary for me. Both involve hurting children which always has/will bother me. Yes I care for animals as well but I think part of growing up rural allows a person to look at most as more of a resource rather than humanizing them. Gerald's Game was third to me because it was so graphic and tense.

This was the last King book I read and then I put him aside for the longest time. It was not until around 2011 or 2012 that I finally "rediscovered" him so to speak and then caught up on all I had missed.
That's also how I discovered the SKMB!

Did you like it though? At that time (back in the early 90s) I read it all the way through but wasn't sure how to take it. On a reread many years later I appreciated it more.
That was back when I was in my 30s and doing strange things like going up to a listening station in the high Arctic for a six month tour - that was interesting! I got posted there from March to September 1992 and the extreme isolation kind of plays tricks with your mind.
So to answer your question yes I did like it but it took a second reading before I can honestly say that.

Neesy, your trip to the arctic station sounds fascinating. You have spoken about it before but I would love to hear the details if you have time. Didn't we briefly discuss it in a PM once? Anyway, I really would like to hear how it came about, what you did, what was involved, how you communicated (and with whom you communicated), etc..
It reminds me of The Thing.

It reminds me of The Thing. Okay - sure - give me time to think about that.
It was many many years ago.
I posted a very old picture on FB recently in which I'm sitting on Santa's lap (that was July 25th or Christmas in July up there).
And - as far as The Thing goes - I love that movie!
I think John Carpenter is a very good director

Voted for IT Pet Semetary Tommyknockers I'm glad you picked The Tommyknockers. I thought it was very scary. Funny, in parts, yeah, but unnerving and there are scenes in the book that surface in my mind when I'm in the woods at night. Why am I in the woods at night, you ask? Oh...no reason. (Whistles)
