I just like the songwriting of the other two albums more. If I had to pick my favorite Rainbow song (I’ve only heard Dio fronted ones, bear in mind. One of my friends said Difficult to Cure is worth checking out so I’ll eventually get to that) it’s probably be Gates of Babylon. That is a banger. Where did you rank Kansas on your prog ranking?I like Kansas but they aren’t one of my personal favorites. Icarus Born on Wings of Steel or Point of Know Return would prolly be my pick for best Kansas song imo.

Its pretty awesome.

I’ve heard every Kansas album up to Monolith, thanks for sending this. I’ll try to remember to check it out later.

Metal albums tier list (yes some of my opinions change very drastically as I relisten to certain things, I really like Point of Entry now) (Also some of these albums I don't even consider metal they were just on the tier list maker anyways)

A Light in the Dark is a song which deserves way more appreciation than it gets. Also, Rising certainly has the best Rainbow line-up. Dio on vocals, Blackmore on guitar, Bain on bass, Carey on keyboards, Powell on drums, it doesn't get much better than that. Plus, Martin Birch producing. Actually, I'd prolly move Gates up to second, I relistened to Stargazer like 3 times today and now it's really sticking to me. I still would say the album is my least favorite of the Dio Rainbow albums despite being very very good still, but Stargazer is an amazing highlight. Where is your staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahr?

Stargazer is phenomenal. If I do a Dio songs list, it will be there. I love the morbid, biblical imagery of the lyrics. It’s like a mix of both the Tower of Babel and the Flight of Icarus. I think it says a lot about the idea of blind, unquestioned faith. The Wizard is so dedicated towards his selfish desire of seeing the star up close that he loses all consideration for the well being of others or how logical his goal is.

Hip Hop albums tier list journey. Wu Tang debut album is excellent, only album I'd say that so far has rivaled Tribe Called Quest's first 3 albums this closely.

Favorite classical pieces (Based on my limited knowledge of classical music)
Mars: Bringer of War - Gustav Holst(Really, the entire Gustav Holst planet suite is excellent, but if I had to pick the two biggest highlights, it'd be these two. And yes, after listening to multiple metal covers of this song, I can say that this is definetly the earliest "metal" song, at least by composition elements.) Jupiter: Bringer of the Jollity - Gustav Holst Dance of the Knights - Sergei Prokofiev Danse Macabre - Camille Saëns Moonlight Sonata- Ludwig Van Beethoven 1812 Overture- Pyotor Tchaikovsky In the Hall of the Mountain King- Edvar Grieg Entry of the Gladiators - Julius Fučik (Haha funny circus song that was actually meant to be theme music for a brutal death battle)
Yes half my limited knowledge of classical music comes from old Tom and Jerry cartoons, how could you tell?
I yearn for someone to do an entire metal cover of The Planets Suite by Holst, the few covers of the various songs I can find on youtube sound awesome with distortion guitars. Hell, perhaps The Planets was the earliest example of a concept album. Holst does an excellent job at portraying each planet and its Roman deity counterpart in the compositions, especially Mars. If there is any theme that would play during the Roman God of war unleashing mass bloodshed upon the world, it would certainly be this song. Asides from Mars, I really like the strings opening on Jupiter, the original violin section sounds excellent when done by a good guitarist who can really pull of the insanely fast hammer ons and pull offs required to emulate an instrument played with a bow.
I hope the guy who runs this channel eventually finishes covering the entire suite, these two sound excellent for something being done by one guy. The amount of talent in some music videos by small youtube channels made as a side hobby or something is astounding.

12 Underrated albums worth listening to if you haven't before. No particular order but if I were to pick my personal favorite of these 12 it'd be Armageddon's self titled and only album. Brief description of each Armageddon by Armageddon - early 70s heavy prog rock/very proto metal Two Quid Deal by Skin Alley- Blues Rock with great bass lines Servants of the Salem Girl by Necromancers- Super Sabbath inspired Doomy Hard Rock/metal album from 2017, though the second track makes the references a little too obvious considering it borderline plagiarizes the riffs of Children of the Grave and Black Sabbath (the song) Tonton Macoute by Tonton Macoute - Nice and Serene Jazzy Swing music Labyrinth by Nucleus- Jazz Fusion instrumental album (with the exception of one track that has some great ghostly sounding female vocals) Whirlwind by Spin- Another jazz fusion instrumental album that has vocals on only one track, the songs "Super B." and "Yellow Kites" would probably be in my top 10 instrumental songs of all time if I were to make one. Awakening by Lucifer's Friend- Proto Metal with some occasional jazz elements Hard Attack!/Dust by Dust- Doomy Proto Metal with some pretty edgy lyrics for something from 1970 when bands like Black Sabbath were still new Just a Poke by Sweet Smoke- two 16 minute prog rock tracks with heavy jazz elements (although for some reason the first track breaks out into a sudden cover of Soft Parade by The Doors halfway through) Tribus by The Windmill- excellent Yes/Genesis/Floyd inspired prog album from 2017 Mirage by Camel- (probably the most recognizable album there) prog rock masterpiece through and through Free Hand by Gentle Giant- Some more accessible prog

Another year, another round of terrible picks for rock and roll hall of fame. Not even Kate Bush got in, and she was an actual nominee this year. Meanwhile BÖC, Alan Parsons, Judas Priest, Rainbow, Ronnie James Dio, Motörhead and others are left to sit on the sidelines.
I mean come on, I can’t believe Def Leppard of all people is in there before some of those I mentioned. I respect Leppard’s drummer for overcoming his disability, that takes a lot of passion. But you cannot listen to Def Leppard’s music and tell me it’s anything but terribly generic glam rock.
Guys can’t even choose the best rappers to put in there.
