View AttachmentMy very rough top 100 albums of all time, the higher ranked albums are in a pretty solid order but the lower down the list order starts to become very inconsequential. Thinking about it now, I should have added Machine Head and Fireball by Deep Purple, and Rainbow's debut album.

100%, besides, robot monsters are way cooler than whatever Iron Maiden's Eddie is supposed to be. I also hate the production on Iron Maiden albums, it's not always terrible but a lot of songs just make the instruments sound so weird. I also think Bruce Dickinson is one of the most boring singers I've ever heard. I'm sure he's a cool guy, but I just can't appreciate any of his vocal work. I will say, Iron Maiden is great at writing good lyrics (most of the time), but good lyrics require approrpriate music to fit them. They also have some good cover art, not all of it is great, but some of it is. But, pales in comparison to cover art on other popular metal bands' albums though, I love most of Judas Priest and DIO's artwork, even if DIO isn't a band I'm a big fan of. Dio's Murray is a cool mascot. Okay, I binged some of Dio's eponymous band albums to see if my opinion has changed. And quite a few songs I wasn't a big fan of before have grown on me. Still need to actually listen to the entire discography full, but I listened to both the most recent live albums released this year of old live recordings from the early 2000s front to back, and really enjoyed both of them. Plus both albums had some performances of his Rainbow and Sabbath era songs, which is cool. Already love the Sabbath Heaven and Hell album, as well as Live Evil and his work on the first 3 Rainbow albums. Title track of Heaven and Hell as well as Children of the Sea are both masterpiece songs imo.

I like the 70s albums the best. Although there are good songs on the 60s albums, The 60s albums are a little to weird for my tastes. I like the 70s live versions of the 60s songs better than the originals.

Tribute to Janis Joplin too, great little acoustic riff in the song

Add Lady Gaga, Adele and I agree. Adele is fine, I don't really know much about her or her discography but the few songs I've heard from her on the radio are fine and I won't complain. Lady Gaga's music on the other hand I have 0 care for and I do find her music quite annoying. But then again, neither are artists that are that prevalently praised in actual genres I listen to, so I really feel no need to vocalize dislike, compared to artists I do frequently see praised in groups and genres that I do actively participate in or read discussion on. One thing about bands with one lead singer is that they tend to involuntarily get almost all the spotlight from fans, at least more casual ones, and not as much recognition goes to the instrument players. Queen, for example, is treated like "Freddie Mercury, the band" by everyone who ever mentions them. Freddie seems like he was a cool guy and I get why people like him, I also understand that a lot of people respect that he was an openly gay celebrity in the middle of the AIDs scare, but I don't get why he's held on such a pedestal. No love goes to Brian May or Jon Deacon or Roger Taylor, I don't even care for Queen as a band that much, but out of all iconic bands no other has such an imbalance of spotlight from fans as Queen does. This is why I always like seeing bands where there isn't one reserved singer, an instead different members singing different songs. On this, Lady Gaga does seem to popular amongst old rock stars. Both Eric Bloom and Rob Halford have said they are Lady Gaga fans.

Planning to eventually get around to checking out a Kanye West album or two. I’ve been told his earlier stuff is good by a friend of mine who has the same general music taste I do. Eventually I need to deep dive more into hip hop, I’ve already talked about my love for Tribe Called Quest, MF DOOM is another great popular rapper I checked out, his albums “Madvillainy” and “MM... FOOD” are both very good. His whole stage persona is really neat, dressed up as an original supervillain character inspired by old Marvel comic book characters. His albums have interludes in 1960s superhero cartoon style where a narrator introduces MF DOOM’s latest evil plot, which is a stylistic choice I find really cool.

A man of culture. Rising is good but it’s my least favorite Ronnie fronted Rainbow album personally. A Light in the Dark is a song which deserves way more appreciation than it gets. Also, Rising certainly has the best Rainbow line-up. Dio on vocals, Blackmore on guitar, Bain on bass, Carey on keyboards, Powell on drums, it doesn't get much better than that. Plus, Martin Birch producing.

One of my friends said Difficult to Cure is worth checking out so I’ll eventually get to that) it’s probably be Gates of Babylon.
