I like this updated version a lot. need to watch it again. there were some details i really missed seeing, like Stans bird book & Bevs slingshot. The time being set so many years later isnt a completely comfortable fit, but it can be lived with. ........is it me, or does that quarry look like the same one in "grown ups 2"?

I watched again before chapter 2 and liked it more. Chapter 2, I thought was so so.

I haven't watched part 2 yet. I liked Part 1 so much, I'm afraid part 2 will be a disappointment, so I keep putting it off.

No spoiler alert here, but while not a disappointment by any stretch of the means, part 2 is inferior. I see them as equals, they both shared solid acting and story telling but they both had the same flaw, they still left out too much from the book. They did a much better job than the 1990 version and I know many didn't want to sit through over 3 hours of film each time but I wish less was left out. There's supposedly longer cuts of both chapters but will we ever see them? Re-play value, I will say Chapter 1 has more re-play value because it has a bit more action it seems.

That was a pretty good one, at the time it was made, in my opinion.
I'm off the board tonight, but I'll catch up with you tomorrow. Nice meeting and talking with you GeorgieFan. 🙂

Tim Curry is still my favorite Pennywise. Skarsgard is good, but Tim did so much with just his acting which is better to me than most digital effects.

As I mentioned in the other thread, he was limited by network rules but I do agree he was the better actor, but we have to be fair, he had many more years of experience when he was cast as Pennywise than Skarsgard. Curry was good at playing funny but creepy and that helped. So toss him in the modern day Pennywise costume and take away the network rules and put him the newer version, and you'd have the ultimate Pennywise. I can't stand the 1990 look Pennywise had, just way too cartoony, and it didn't help that at around the same time, the WWE had a wrestler who dressed pretty much exactly the same called Doink. You know who would rule as Pennywise, Robert Englund. But you know why? Because as much as I respect Stephen King, he kind of copied Freddy in some ways, could have been unintentional or pure coincidence.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Tim Curry, he is a great actor and performer. He's just so good at everything he does. The special FX at his time in IT weren't great, but they got the story across, and I think he made the most of what there was to work with. I like Skarsgard's performance too, he's pretty good in everything I've seen him in so far. And the FX and costuming in this new one are really awesome. Have a great day Georgie. 😊

Englund would definitely bring a tremendous performance if he were cast in that role. Honestly, I think, the similiarities between Freddie and Pennywise are purely unintentional. 🙂

Yeah Tim did have alot of things he couldn't ignore cause of the mini-series being made for TV. Don't get me wrong, I think Skarsgard was awesome in the movie. I just think he was most effective in the scenes that didn't have an over reliance on CGI. I especially thought Skarsgard was effective in the different auditions we saw with the special features and the cgi test for the "I know your secret" scene. I've never been a wrestling fan so I will take your word on that Doink character. I've never been a Freddy fan, but I would have to see how Robert Englund would play the character.

I used to be really into the Elm Street thing but the only slashers I watch these days are the Chucky ones, I just got burnt out on Michael, Jason, and Freddy, they did the same thing over and over. Dourif is probably why I've stayed with Child's Play after all these years, he's a great actor, even when its just voice acting. Curry did a solid job as Pennywise but there's more than the FCC restrictions that held him down, it was also just an iffy cast, I couldn't stand many of the actors at the time. One of the these I'll re-watch it, see if 30 years has made me change my mind on it but to real, a lot of TV films are just hollow in comparison. I thank HBO, Showtime, and Starz for making tv good again, the major networks lost their edge, became all about repetitive sitcoms and bad reality shows.
