I used to be really into the Elm Street thing but the only slashers I watch these days are the Chucky ones, I just got burnt out on Michael, Jason, and Freddy, they did the same thing over and over. Dourif is probably why I've stayed with Child's Play after all these years, he's a great actor, even when its just voice acting. Curry did a solid job as Pennywise but there's more than the FCC restrictions that held him down, it was also just an iffy cast, I couldn't stand many of the actors at the time. One of the these I'll re-watch it, see if 30 years has made me change my mind on it but to real, a lot of TV films are just hollow in comparison. I thank HBO, Showtime, and Starz for making tv good again, the major networks lost their edge, became all about repetitive sitcoms and bad reality shows. I think Netflix has made some good shows too. I've never been a big fan of slasher movies. To me its all the same thing with a different cast for the most part. One thing I do want to be clear on is I have never thought of Georgie as the end all be all of the story. I just feel that he is a very important part of the story cause his murder is what sets the whole thing up. I just think he should have been brought up more than just a hand full of times.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Tim Curry, he is a great actor and performer. He's just so good at everything he does. The special FX at his time in IT weren't great, but they got the story across, and I think he made the most of what there was to work with. I like Skarsgard's performance too, he's pretty good in everything I've seen him in so far. And the FX and costuming in this new one are really awesome. Have a great day Georgie. 😊 The biggest effect that I have never liked is that spider at the end. That is one aspect of Chapter Two that I think was done better. I haven't got to see Chapter 2 yet, but I am looking forward to it. It would be nice to see the mini series again too, I think it was pretty much faithful to the book. As best as movies can be at least.
(...I never expect too much from film versions, especially with books that are so long and involved. But I still enjoy them alright. 🙂)

But I do enjoy sitting down and watching a good movie. 🙂

The weird thing is that it took Georgie's death to finally get people wanting to do something about the missing kids, I mean kids were going missing for eons in Derry before Georgie but no one seemed to care. I can't pick a favorite chapter, they both have great things about them. What I like about IT is that while Pennywise is the bad guy, we get to see real bad people in the story as well, such as the homophobes in Chapter 2 and the bullies in Chapter 1, they are the real evil people because they're harming their own kind, Pennywise isn't human, he just sees kids the same way humans see cows. But King doesn't write one dimensional horror, he uses serious metaphors, and always adds a lot of depth to things, some things I miss the first time around and catch onto later. My only issue is I do think sometimes he does make some stories too long by over elaborating on stuff that isn't that necessary. But that's his style, I mean Salem's Lot, there's a good 5 pages just to elaborate on how a certain area looked.

Nope. ....not speaking for the person you're quoting of course.🙂 But I don't think anyone could be offended by that. I really liked that little boy too, in the book and the movies. Have a good night Georgie. See you around. Again, it's nice talking with you friend. 😊

Again, it's nice talking with you friend. 😊 I kind of assumed Georgie was his fave due to his name on the board and his avatar, and I don't find that to be bothersome. I will always see Georgie as the character that was used merely to get the ball rolling and not meant to be anything more than that, but he was still a good character in the scenes that he was in.

What does everyone think of the possibility of there being a prequel movie in the works?

Welcome.🙂 Sorry, didn't know you hadn't read it. Happy reading, hope you enjoy the rest of it. The hardest part for me to read has been Stan and Eddie's chapters. I haven't finished the Eddie chapter cause of how much is there just for the medicine cabinet. Oh my gawd, the medicine cabinet! I was like wtf?! when I got to that part, like what the heck has he got in there?!

Can I ask one really daft question? Given that some of the storylines are based on real life incidences, like the Bradley Gang and The Black Spot, I'm sure he said they were real, but were the children kind of based on him:
Eddie with asthma Bev being poor Richie with glasses Bill with stuttering Stan with bird watching Ben being a bit plump?
I'm not sure about Mike - did Stephen King witness a little bit of racial tension?
It's just a thought I had, please don't spank me.

I'm not sure about Mike - did Stephen King witness a little bit of racial tension? Are you asking if King gave the kids issues he had when he was a kid, the chances are he did since many writers do use their real life experiences. And I'd say King was bullied a lot, he has been working on anti bullying, and he has just totally lost his cool when some would bully others. I mean its normal to be anti bully but when one gets as extreme as he does, it usually is a sign he himself was bullied. So yeah, I think the kids in IT and Stand By Me have traits he had, and both groups of kids had issues with bullying.

I think it is safe to say SK had some major issues with bullies in his life, they sneak out in almost ever story he has written (I think pet sematary is one of the few examples of a non bully story) and usually get a bad end. The movies never do Henry justice though, he wasn't your typical one dimensional bully in an SK story. There are characters in IT worse than he is.
SK is also a big Tolkien fan. Tolkien once spent two pages describing a rock.
