After I finished Dune. I read 2 short novels by T. Kingfisher. They are THORNHEDGE and What Moves the Dead. Both are terrific tales. Highly recommend. Now, I'm starting Richard Chizmar's Becoming the Boogeyman. Chiz is a scary guy!
Sounds scary
Just got the book Holly in large type from the library but haven't started it yet

I'm about halfway through Blood & Thunder: The Life & Art of Robert E. Howard by Mark Finn. For those of you who might not recognize the name, Howard was the creator of Conan and Solomon Kane, to name his two most famous characters. Along with H. P. Lovecraft and others, Howard was one of the stars of Weird Tales in its old pulp glory days. The author goes into quite a bit of detail about the Texas oil boom Howard grew up in the middle of, and explains how this environment may have shaped his fiction.
Howard didn't have a particularly happy life, sadly. But it's just as important to learn about the people who give us our tales as it is to partake of those tales, so that's one reason I nabbed this biography.

I finished Leigh Bardugo's Crooked Kingdom and enjoyed it very much. This is part of the Shadow and Bone series.

What did you think of "Six of Crows" (I had to go look it up) - Would you recommend reading the first book before Crooked Kingdom?

I confess, I didn't read it. I watched Shadow and Bone to learn the story and characters.

I confess, I didn't read it. I watched Shadow and Bone to learn the story and characters. I'm waiting for one called "The Thursday Murder Club" - it's the first in a series by Richard Osman - I had had one out by him called "The Bullet That Missed" but took it back without reading it because I wanted to start with the first one.
(We don't have Netflix - our TV isn't hooked up with the internet because we are dinosaurs) lol
This is completely out of left field but yesterday I saw some liver in a display case at Freshco and I immediately thought of the book Holly

I'm only 80 pages in, but i like it. The science is realistic, the story goes along at a nice pace.

Currently enjoying Don't Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones. This is the sequel to My Heart is a Chainsaw in the Indian Lake Trilogy. It's an homage to all the Final Girls and slasher films. The third in the Indian Lake Trilogy was released on March 26th. Stephen Graham Jones doesn't disappoint his readers ! There is so much action it's a lot to absorb. But he also makes sure that our main character, Sage has plenty of soul searching and soul wrenching moments. I was very happy to read this ending. The novel is called, The Angel of Indian Lake.

I read DUNE in March and loved it. Last week I bought a copy of MESSIAH, the sequel and I was blown away when I finished it last night.
Frank Herbert was a great writer.

I just started Turning Angel, the second in the "Penn Cage" series, by Greg Iles. I think he's about to release the latest novel in that series so I've got some catching up to do.

Started reading "The Enceladus Mission" by Brandon Q. Morris.I need to look for that! It was much better than expected. The characters and story are enthralling, and it has enough plausible science to keep your brain going.

Have begun SK’s “The Bazaar Of Bad Dreams” on audio book. I now have paused the smartass tv during ‘Mile 81’.
(Right now I’m hoping the State Trooper gets away with Blakey and Rachey, but I do know good King Stephen….and know to not get my hopes up too high. Also I’ve got to remember to come back and put ‘Verboten’ in the vocab lists later too. Another cool thing Uncle Steve gave me, lol. 😄👏)
I’m also hoping I can find the part 2 vid when I get through this part 1.
I always prefer to have the book in my hands, reading it for myself, and listening to the characters’ voices I make in my own mind. But my book buying and reading are put on hold for now, for a couple of reasons.
So far I’ve been lucky lately, and have found :
”Doctor Sleep” (finished listening to that one earlier today)
”L.T’s Theory of Pets”
and
”The Colorado Kid”. (I’m hoping I can find “Under The Dome” sometime soon. I’d like to finally figure out exactly how much of a mishmash mess the tv series ‘Haven’ might be. I’m thinking it maybe something like the ‘Castle Rock’ series was.)
I’ll post about all of those in our (newly refurbished and refined, novel section) when I’m through digesting and processing the stories my ears have devoured. I’ve got brain cells in the furthest reaches still masticating. 😊
Thank you again, for all the time and effort you put into the extensive rearranging and making you had to do, Commander osnafrank ! Hell of an awesome job 😊👏👏👏❗️
Now I’m going back to ‘Mile 81’ and dinner…..after ONE quick stop elsewhere here. 😊
