Started "Strangers" by Dean Koontz yesterday. I'm 130 pages in, and as almost always (when it comes to Koontz), i'm already sick of it.
The writing is dire, overstuffed with banal characters and pointless storylines, and the story is predictable. So far, it reminds me of the Star Trek TNG Episode "Schisms".
Re-Reading On Writing.

At the moment, The No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. This one's been on my radar for a while (my late father was a fan), and it's quite a romp. I've heard of that author - he is Scottish I do believe - maybe I should see if I can get one of his books in large print.

It was quite enjoyable. I'll check out the rest of the series at some point.
In the meantime, I've moved on to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. This one's been on my radar for quite some time. I seem to be on a Scottish tear at the moment...

Re-Reading On Writing. I know what you mean. Koontz get flamin' tiresome and repetitive. (For me)
Now granted, I have not read everything by him, but what I have read has been that way for me.
That novel he wrote about about the telepathic golden retriever (like in that flick,"A boy in his dog") 'Einstein' and 'the Outsider' kept my interest enough to finish it... but I can't remember the title of the book, nor the title of the ATROCIOUS movie adaption, starring Corey Haim...going on the run, in that one, Seems like I recall the next book or two of his, that i actually read, involved more characters 'on the run'...like "Twilight"...I didn't care for that one and never finished it. But did try to.
I did kinda like "Midnight" and "Hideaway"....they were different, and a bit more original.
I saw "Odd Thomas" on Scy Fy channel afew years ago. I really liked that. (Anton 💔 a054 ❤) .... I was surprised to learn that movie, was based on a Koontz work. (IF I am remembering correctly).
Mmm....maybe he puts more effort into some of his works. I dunnno.

I've read an "Odd Thomas" Book, and it was okay, can't remember the title, though.

Terminal Freeze by Lincoln Child
A sci-fi/horror/thriller. It reminds me a bit of The Thing. An exciting, action packed story with a creepy atmosphere.
