Giving this one another spin, I remember reading that when it came out in the early 80s (? - maybe late 70s). I thought it was good book about a celebrity and a stalker and I remember the entire book being composed of letters between the fan and celeb and between the celeb and her handlers. I believe a movie was made too. That's right, the 1981 movie had Lauren Bacall, James Garner, Maureen Stapleton and a very young Michael Biehn as the obsessed fan. Well worth a watch for those who haven't seen it.

I'm reading Anne Rice's The Witching Hour. I love this book. It has been a long time since I read it, so it almost feels new. I did not like the two sequels very much, but am thinking I will try them again, maybe age has changed my view on them. 🙂

I'm about 210 pages into The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg. I love her writing and storytelling so much! Only problem is that I now think everyone in the south has relatives like the characters in her books. That reminds me of reading Anne Tyler's The Tin Can Tree in college. Some of those characters reminded me so much of my relatives. I loved how the characters in the book came to life. Sounds like Fannie Flagg writes the same way.

Even more so than the Vampire Chronicles, and I generally love vampire tales above all others. I stuck with the series until they met up with the vampires.....then I got bored.

I have not read the later ones either. Of either the Witches or Vampires. Maybe someday. I am enjoying my reread!!

Let me know if you want me to send you a book! I gifted one, but think I have two of her novels - for sure still have the one I just finished.

Slowly plodding through A Prayer for Owen Meany and a re-read of The Tommyknockers. Started Emma Who Saved My Life by Wilton Barnhardt today. It's reminding me a little of Double Feature by Owen King (which I quit reading halfway through ).

While reading Emma Who Saved My Life, I kept thinking about how much I loved Show World by the same author. So I had to pick that up again. I've read it two or three times, but according to a receipt I left in the book, the last time was 2008.

Finishing up Misery, started The Stand, in middle of Tom Clancy's the Sum of All Fears, in middle of the Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie, and Issac Asimov's the Complete Robot.
And this thread is way awesome for learning about new authors and works! Cheers to the creator!!

The House on cold Hill, by Peter James.
Very entertaining, a bit scary, nice characters and the pace is pretty fast.

I can actually trace my love of the horror genre to two things: second is the Universal monster films I used to watch every Saturday evening on TV with my father. The first would my mother's huge, lavishly illustrated version of the Grimm fairy tales. They were a British edition, not yet tarnished by Disney's watered-down safe-for-the-kiddies adaptations that were designed to sell merchandise. I really wish someone would do a premium cable series based on the original tales. The closest I've see would be Jim Henson's The Storyteller series, which balanced a kid-friendly appeal with the darker and more adult elements. Brothers Grimm fairy tales were never meant for kids

Started Under the Dome today. Only 40 pages in but there are already some major differences to the Series. The book was so much better and yes.... LOTS of differences. Folks left out, folks related in different ways, etc. etc. Enjoy!
