Bitch (The Rolling Stones) 4. You have your own late night show, who do you invite as your first guest? Pete Best (The guy who was the drummer for The Beatles before he was replaced with Ringo just before they made it big, he’s still alive) Random people who played random aliens and Storm Troopers in various Star Wars films 5. When you die, what do you want to be remembered for? Discovering the secret to immortality 6. What is your favorite item you bought this year? Probably all the vinyls I’ve collected 7. Say you're independently wealthy and don't have to work: what do you do with your time? Traveling 8. What was the worst job you ever had? Highschool student in the late 2000’s 9. What is your favorite place of all the places you've traveled? Florida? I’ve only been out of country once and barely remember it (I was only 3, and it was only to Canada (sorry Canadians) and it was like right right next to the border, so it was barely out of country. I’d love to visit either Greece or Japan because of the history there. 10. What's the one thing we don't know about you? I don’t have an appendix (might’ve told this one). There’s also a lot of Asian Americans in my family (I myself am just white though). I'm thrilled to know all of this about you! And I have to agree - being a high school student in these times must be very hard. I have 2 in high school now - it's so different from the 80s. Hang in there - it's just a moment in the entirety of your life. I can't wait until mine are done. I wished I'd homeschooled them.Thanks. It’s like High School slowly gets worse every decade. Right now we have A) The Eminent Threat of Global Warming B) Every couple months there’s a big school shooting C) Kids as young as 11 giving themselves crippling nicotine addictions D) Practically everyone is depressed E) The housing market and health care systems are out of wack because of uncontrolled inflation F) School Work G) Home life And so on and so forth

Keep it going, Tet!! I need to know you better!
Sundrop I'm going to try that with the pretzels!
doccreed Go to Aldi - what are you waiting for? The cheese, the breads, the chocolate!! I wouldn't say it's a smooth melty chocolate - it's not like a Dove. It's dark, so it takes a minute. Right now my Aldi has Orange Chocolate Jaffa Cakes. YUM. I get all my dairy, baking goods and bread there. They have some unusual stuff you just can't find anywhere else.

morgan I'm thrilled you're answering questions!! Anything we ask you say?? Hmmm, I gotta do some thinking on that.
How funny - Ralph Macchio was one of mine too - mostly from The Outsiders. I think I was 13 or 14 though. And he was on Eight is Enough (if you're old enough to remember that!!) Yes! The Outsiders. Watched that one many times. I've never seen Eight is Enough though. (I'm probably old enough, but my mom was super strict when I was growing up. There were very few shows we were allowed to watch. I wasn't allowed to listen to the radio until I was 17!) I wish Netflix and Hulu would stream older TV shows.

A) The Eminent Threat of Global Warming
B) Every couple months there’s a big school shooting
C) Kids as young as 11 giving themselves crippling nicotine addictions
D) Practically everyone is depressed
E) The housing market and health care systems are out of wack because of uncontrolled inflation
F) School Work
G) Home life
YES - agreed on all points! I like to think our Home Life is better than most, but other than that - you're spot on.
doccreed I bet that was a great job for you - I can totally see that. (music minister - we call ours the music director - we have a pipe organ too - have you ever played that? Last year I was doing some stuff in the church while he was practicing and it was May 4th and he started playing the Star Wars theme - for another thread, but I had no idea what all a pipe organ could do until I worked in a church)
morgan - Wow -your mom was hardcore - no radio until you were 17!!! You missed so much music. Did you have to listen to her music or just silence? Lord, God. I can't imagine.

1: If you could travel back to one year in history for a 1-2 week vacation, when would it be? I had the best childhood - I think I'd go back to July 1, 1977/78/79 any of those. I'd like to be young, carefree, having the best time of my life (8,9,10). I lived in a neighborhood with lots of kids - we all hung out together - there were 8-12 of us any given day. Making forts in the woods, we'd make a mud slide on the banks of the creek if the water was high enough. Crawdad hunting. Riding our backs miles to get to the Utotem (You Tote Them) to buy candy. We were outside all day because the universal rule was if you come inside, you stay inside. Mostly because we were filthy. My mom would leave me a can of country time lemonade and a little bag of doritos on the patio for lunch. You had to take a bath when you came in. So we just stayed out until dark. The moms would gather and chat while we made our way home. Sometimes they'd talk long enough that we'd get extra time under the stars - playing Ghosts in the Graveyard or trying to find constellations. It is a great sadness to me that my children did not have that kind of childhood. (That was probably way more info than you were asking, but it sparked a lovely memory that I wanted to share. )
2: Who was your favorite childhood pet?
My aunt Ann's dog, Rascal - I wasn't allowed to have pets as a child.
3: What was your most treasured material object as a child?
My cassette player/recorder with the microphone. I did recorded interviews with everyone.
4: What is your favorite Dr. Suess book?
Hop on Pop- because I loved when my toddlers learned words and would read it along with me. "No Pat no, you must not hop on pop"
5: Who is your favorite Muppet? (Seseame Street characters included) that's hard - I love them all. I think I found the Count the most entertaining.
6: What is the best thing to come out of this decade?
I've been thinking on that a bit. I've settled on the emerging equality. It's still not the best, but we're getting there.
7: What is a (non-political, non-religious) unpopular opinion you have?
I love storms - noisy, window rattling, lightening producing, crashing thunder, tornado warning storms.
8: What was the most romantic moment of your life?
For just a sweet moment in particular: we were poor, so so broke when we first got married. We were 21, had a mortgage, a baby, just broke a*s broke. Our splurge every week was getting the Sunday paper, 2 donuts and 2 chocolate milks. Just reading the paper all day (too broke for cable, streaming on laptops didn't exist). So that Valentine's Day, he had asked me to bring a few sheets of colored paper home from work. I don't know what he needed it for but I asked our secretary for some and she gave it me. Come Valentine's Day, I had a lovely bouquet of paper roses. He'd gotten some wire scraps from where he worked, and used the colored paper I'd given him to make me the sweetest paper roses.
9: What was your awkward first date experience?
I was on an afternoon first date - I was a college student, working nights & weekend, not much time to date. So an afternoon beer and nacho date at my favorite pub with some one new - we'd crossed paths a few times and flirted a bit and he asked me out. On this first date he very casually disclosed to me that he was married but had an agreement with his wife that if either of them met someone they were attracted and wanted to get to know better - it was fine with with each of them to pursue it. They were swingers apparently. I was so bummed. I made a little bit of a scene and stomped out. Now I'm glad he was up front about that. I know women who found out their boyfriend was married after they were already in love. At least it didn't get off the ground. The older me might have said thank you for the flattery, but I am not interested in that - and not have had stormed out. I was a little dramatic.
10: Who is a non-musical artist (writer, director, etc.) that you would consider a “one-hit wonder” (doesn’t have to be an actual popular hit, just one you could only enjoy one work of). That's a hard one, but I have read a book I loved and as far as I know he's never written anything else - David Kind - The Ha-Ha
Those were great questions @wayoftheredpanda! I've spent the morning in a sweet reverie of good memories.

1967-1969, just kind of a decade I’d like to witness firsthand. Counter-culture and stuff.

My cat Shadow. She was a chubby short-haired Black cat who was very very friendly and I loved her very much. She passed away in May 2017.
3: What was your most treasured material object as a child?

5: Who is your favorite Muppet? (Seseame Street characters included)
Bert, The Count, & Kermit
6: What is the best thing to come out of this decade?
Scientific advancements.

Star Wars Episode III is a classic and I like it better than most of the OT.

9: What was your awkward first date experience?
N/A
10: Who is a non-musical artist (writer, director, etc.) that you would consider a “one-hit wonder” (doesn’t have to be an actual popular hit, just one you could only enjoy one work of).
Ernest Cline, his novel “Ready Player One” was fun and although it was cheesy with its over abundance of references to pop culture it didn’t hinder the book. In his following novel, Armada, he just tried too hard.

Hopping on to asking next weeks questions 1: If you could travel back to one year in history for a 1-2 week vacation, when would it be? In my own history I would go back to a time in grade school when I spent the summer in Maine. My late father had a little organic farm there for a short time. But I would pick a timeline when my stepmonster was halfway decent to me and when I wasn't at summer camp getting jumped by five girls behind the arts and crafts building. I guess a black eye should be expected when you're from "away!" Ha!
In general history, I would love to go back and see real Woodstock hippies! diobolic !! 2: Who was your favorite childhood pet? Either our cat, Kit Kat, or our little dog, Cotton. 3: What was your most treasured material object as a child? We didn't have a lot, so I treasured all of my belongings. Probably my Barbies/dolls and their outfits. 4: What is your favorite Dr. Suess book? Yertle the Turtle5: Who is your favorite Muppet? (Seseame Street characters included) I don't really have one, but I'm going to say Elmo. Brings back a cute memory. When my oldest nieces were very young, I bought an Elmo flashlight. Click the button, his mouth opens, the light comes on and he laughs. We all would burst out laughing! So fun.6: What is the best thing to come out of this decade? I'm the wrong person to ask. I'll second the improvement in equality answer. Inclusivity.7: What is a (non-political, non-religious) unpopular opinion you have? Almost all of my opinions are unpopular - I'm a weirdo! Probably my beliefs about western medicine and pharmaceutical companies.8: What was the most romantic moment of your life? My gawd, how I love hollygolightly 's answer! Mine would probably be when I was living with my college boyfriend. There was an empty lot next to our apartment building. We'd had a heavy snowfall the previous night. My BF woke up early, tromped through the snow and spelled I LOVE MORGAN in huge letters. Awwww...memories.9: What was your awkward first date experience? I've never had a first date that wasn't awkward because I AM awkward! (I've been on lots of 'em and thankfully have blocked most of them out! ) Not exactly a date, but a really cute boy kissed me in an alley, walking home from school when I was in 7th grade. I ran away!! 10: Who is a non-musical artist (writer, director, etc.) that you would consider a “one-hit wonder” (doesn’t have to be an actual popular hit, just one you could only enjoy one work of). The only thing coming to mind is about two popular actors. The only Antonio Banderas movie I liked was Original Sin. And the only work of Bill Paxton's I thoroughly enjoyed was his performance in the series Big Love. (And I feel wretched about this now, due to his untimely passing and reading such wonderful things about what a kind person he was. I am going to seek out all of his movies someday and try to right this wrong.)

Everything new and different and actually changing the world ) 2: Who was your favorite childhood pet? Rover, my dog 3: What was your most treasured material object as a child?
