It's an item you can't get rid of...kind of like a gift that you didn't really want. It's awkward or embarrassing to unload it, though I think the concept might have originated before we had helpful things like Ebay. Okay, thanks for clearing this up.

Hey Hey Frank 😊
I have never heard of a ‘yankee swap’. But I’ve always known ‘a white elephant’ to be a very expensive and prized possession that is abosutely useless, and/or pointless to own. I hope that helps. 🙂

The main difference between Yankee Swap and White Elephant is that in Yankee Swap, players always open a gift before choosing to keep it or swap it, while in White Elephant, players can choose to open a gift or steal another player's gift: Yankee Swap: Players open a gift, then choose to keep it or swap it with another player. White Elephant: Players can choose to open a gift or steal another player's gift. White Elephant is also known for being a game where the gifts are silly, novelty, or generally useless. The goal of White Elephant is to entertain party-goers rather than to give or acquire a genuinely valuable or highly sought item. The game is also known by other names, including Dirty Santa. The name differs from party to party, but the object of the game is the same: give, swap, and try to end the night with the best present.

That’s interesting! I’ve never heard of a white elephant game. But have heard of a white elephant being given as a gift.
“TIL…” 😊

I see nothing at all wrong with that contraption. The only changes I would make would be biscuits in the oven and my percolator plugged in separately.
Fun fact: young people don't know a "percolator" is. Several years ago during a gaming session in voice chat I mentioned my percolator and one young lady said, "What? Perpetrator?"
Now I get asked all the time if I "perpetrated" some coffee...

I have one of those spinning Pizza contraptions. I like it.
