I’m afraid covid will be with us for everyone here’s lifetime. The regular flu we experience today comes from the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, and that’s over 100 years. All we can do is get vaccines that are provided which hopefully helps keep people from catching it. But unfortunately it will mutate and vaccines will be a hit or miss in the future just like the regular flu circumstance is now. Everyone will get the coronavirus, eventually, I believe.
Get your vaccine when you can, get your card indicating you received the vaccination, and travel and live life enjoyably... That’s my advice.
I scored a vaccine appointment (for Friday) this morning. The state just lower the age to my bracket this morning and I managed to get one on the first day I was eligible. I got my second vaccine two days ago

Were you able to score the Johnson & Johnson one shot vaccine? No, I'm getting the Moderna. There are some J&Js available in Florida but not very many so I didn't try to get an appointment for that one since that's the one everyone wants and the supply is low. Figured my chances were better with Moderna.

From what I’ve read…
The Pfizer vaccine showed efficacy of 95%. The Moderna vaccine efficacy was 94.1%. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine seems to have an efficacy rate of 85% from what I've read. (The J&J one-dose vaccine was shown to be 66% protective against moderate to severe Covid infections overall from 28 days after injection, though there was variability based on geographic locations. The vaccine was 72% protective in the United States, 66% protective in South America, and 57% protective in South Africa.
But the vaccine was shown to be 85% protective against severe disease, with no differences across the eight countries or three regions in the study, nor across age groups among trial participants. And there were no hospitalizations or deaths in the vaccine arm of the trial after the 28-day period in which immunity developed.)
But the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine need the second dose to get to 94.1% and 95%. They seem to be only 85% after the first shot. The interval between Moderna doses is 28 days; for the Pfizer vaccine, it’s 21 days.

I Agree About Egypt an The Pyramids an Valley of The Kings too I Always Wanted to Go inside The Pyramids. I forgot Iceland. Russia (when i was there it was still called Sovjetunion) was kinda strange. The people at restaurants and other places you visited were highly effective. Stiff, but effective. I remember at place we ate i turned away from the food for awhile to talk to my neighnor and when i looked at my plate again it was gone. The waiter had taken it and i hadn't even noticed. He thought i was finished. Greece is absolutely beautiful if you keep to small towns and countryside. Athens is a great place to visit but the traffic was mad and air was bad sometimes . My fave place is the greek island of Crete. Great cultural monuments like Knossos and Phaistos that are left from the first european highculture about 2000-1500 BC. Beautiful beaches and small rather cheap for the purse restaurants that serve good greek food. The small towns are charming and the landscape captivating. Been there 4 times.

Glad to hear it - hope you come through it okay; I heard the second shot is the real kicker but depending on your age; older folks apparently come through it okay (I guess it depends on what your definition of "older" is)
Either way - congratulations! Andy is still trying to book his appointment online but having some difficulty

Here's my random thought for today:
I hear a lot of people saying "I'm not gonna lie" these days
I find it to be a strange expression honestly
Does this mean that:
normally you would lie, but for this particular occasion you chose not to?

This is a usual size for an Easter Fire.

This is a usual size for an Easter Fire. Time to go put on your animal skins and dance around it chanting gibberish and try seeing which group of pagans join you first.

"Donnie Darko" is a real Think Piece. One really has to watch it AT LEAST twice, and pay close attention to the details, to get close to getting a grip on what is going on in there....you have to think outside the box, and consider things like the 'Butterfly Effect' (and I am not referring to the movie by the way) and the ever puzzling and sometimes confounding and irritating, 'Mandela Effect'. As well as other things...theories, beliefs.... etc...
The Mandella Effect is simply the mass coincidental misrememberance of things. Not to be confused with the people who can't accept that their memories are faulty and that tiny and frankly unimportant details cause them to go over and beyond the blame reality for their memory being faulty and instead say they're from another timeline instead of just going "Huh, guess I was wrong". Plus I think a large amount of it, especially with the internet, is unintentional herd mentality. "Oh, does anyone else remember it being the Berenstein Bears?" growing in popularity in turn effected other people's memories, not to mention "stein" is an extremely common suffix for last names. I won't deny it's interesting, but people overexagerrate the meaning of it. Now, I find "The Streissand Effect" way more interesting, because there's less overdedicated naysayers involved.
