Forgive me if this is somewhere else - and please merge for us - I didn't see it, and if KRF is onboard - get ready! He's the master of thrift store scores! Him and KFF (Linda)!
Today I got: Vampires in the Lemon Grove short story collection by Karen Russell; By the Light of the Moon by Dean Koontz; The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende; and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I haven't been thrifting in a long long time. I'm blaming it on work. I used to go to the GW every Saturday for book thrifting. Finally got to it today. I'm almost finished with the lovely lot of short stories I got for Christmas.
Have you found anything noteworthy recently?
I did see a hardback of Black House and a MM paperback of the combine shorts that comprise The Green Mile. Holler if you want them - I'll go back!

I will be heading out later today to do my usual goodwilling. Hopefully I will come home with something great. Hate to disappoint my fellow thrifties!!! I wasn't able to get out yesterday (which is the usual GW day for me) because I had to attend a memorial service for an ex co-worker and I would have had to cut short the GW as the service was at 2 pm.

We have three Goodwills here in Spokane. I did stop at the largest one yesterday morning, which is just about 5 minutes from my house, just to get out but didn't find anything. I have been cooped up here at home Monday, Tuesday and Friday as SNAP was converting my electric furnace and hot water tank over to gas and also resealing/insulating underneath the house. They will be coming back Monday and Tuesday to finish the project. I am going to have to call out from work on Monday and possibly Tuesday as I don't know if I will have to be here since they will be working beneath the house and not in it.

Yesterday I found an autographed unread hardback 1st of An Hour Before Daylight by Jimmy Carter. It's a memoir of his childhood days growing up in a rural community. Also scored a nice hardbound copy of Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines by Nick Sheff. It's his personal account of his teenage years of drug addiction. Was the basis of the movie Beautiful Boy, along with his father's book of the same name.

Have you ever read One Hundred Years of Solitude? That's been on my radar for years. My niece and I are planning a book store run in a few weeks. I'm looking for a book by Marisha Pessl (forget title, will have to look up) and a copy of Brideshead Revisited. I am looking for hardcovers of The Tommyknockers and Christine, too.
Congrats on the Russel book; I know how much you like her.

Found this copy of "The Storm of the Century" today on a public bookshelf. You can bring your old Books and if you find something interesting you can take it with you

There’s something like that outside local elementary schools, only thing is that you probably won’t find Stephen King in them. It’s cool seeing the covers of books in different countries. I think Japan has some cool Stephen King covers, particularly Needful Things.

I found a copy of One Hundred Years of Solitude at the thrift store the other day. Brand new trade paperback for a buck. hollygolightly As I said on the SKMB, we must have been shepherded by Dan (KRF), the Patron Saint of Thrift Shops. LOL
