Could you please conjure me up a thrift store find of a first edition edition of Carrie? This happened to someone else, but I won't mention any names.

Thankee! You just never know what kind of powers an uber King collector possesses! You might want to start hitting the library sales, too. A lot of those 30,000 copies ended up on the library shelves back in the day because no one knew who King was and it was a first novel by an unknown author. Just a suggestion.

I usually do (if I remember when they are!). Don't get to the library much anymore. There was a drug bust in the entrance/lobby a few years ago and it still freaks me out. I went to the fall sale last year and only bought one book! Cute story though.
This adorable young man (and I am probably old enough to be his mother, so TOTALLY innocent!) approached me and asked me if I liked historical fiction. Told him it isn't really my thing and asked him if he'd read 11/22/63. We talked SK very briefly and he was so excited to recommend his favorite Ken Follet (?) novel that he found an extra copy of. His enthusiasm was so contagious, that I would've bought a freakin' Twilight book if he would've been holding it! He tracked me down a while later and said he found a copy in better condition for me. So cute! (But that book is still in the trunk of my car. )

doccreed - Score!! Maybe we should schedule a reading and discuss. I have not read any reviews or synopsis of One Hundred Years of Solitude - it just turns up on all the Must Read lists - or best books of the century - I've been curious about it, so it found me. I had a book find me once before - I have this thing where if I find a statue or image of Our Lady or Jesus, I have to buy it - only in thrift stores. I rescue them and sometimes give them away, sometimes put them in the atrium of our church for the children to see. Anyhow - I found a book called Our Lady of the Lost & Found with Dali's image of Mary on it. It was during my bad time - 2014, and I bought it. And read it. There were so many things in there that related to me in a such a specific way. It is a work of fiction - so I wasn't expecting that. I'll have to tell you the story some time. It was profound and unforgettable and changed things.
So when I found 100 Years, I had to get it. My GW is often my very own Needful Things (I think I posted this on the SKMB a long time ago). Sometimes I make a wish before I go into the store and find exactly what I was looking for. One time I'd lost a Marian Keyes book that I loved - I loaned it to my sister, and she swore she never saw it. I wished for it, and there it was on the shelf. Another time I was thinking it would be great to find a Big Head Todd & the Monsters CD - and again - I found it there that very day. One time a candle snuffer. It's uncanny.
spideyman - I've found the thrift stores I visit in Florida to be lacking in books. I've only been to ones in Destin, Tampa, and Orlando, but nothing in the way of good literature that I wanted to purchase. Is there anything you're looking for in particular? I'd like to find it for you!
kingricefan - You are so lucky! Do you make a wish before you go in? You find more autographed books than anyone I've ever known!!
@administrator osnafrank - that is a great find! I love seeing SK book covers in other countries.

bokoebaFTerAfwUuywKb That was fantastic!
morgan - I have those Ken Follet books - I'm told they are worth the effort, but I don't know. I'd be so disappointed if they weren't as good as IT or The Stand. I think those SK books and The Witching Hour are the only books I've read with so many pages. It's a big commitment.

Sometimes I just get a feeling in the back of my mind that tells me to go to this particular thrift store or used book store and pull this certain book off of the shelf to check it out. I don't know, it's weird when it happens. Sometimes I just see a book on the shelf and the voice says 'It's signed.' Don't get me wrong- I'm NOT complaining!!

Used bookstore finds - a paperback copy of Watchers by Koontz for my mom since she's destroyed the previous one! Lol. All Dressed in White by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke and Guilty As Sin by Tami Hoag (which I realized is the second book in a two-part series - not sure if it's necessary to read the first one). mary Did you read the Deer Lake series?

I received the online books I purchased last week. The copy of A Prayer for Owen Meany by Irving was supposed to be a hardcover, but they sent a large paperback. Hopefully I'll get a refund. If not, at least I have a decent reading copy that was a fair price.

Used bookstore finds this week: The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker, All By Myself, Alone by Mary Higgins Clark and 3rd Degree and Mary Mary by James Patterson.
Used books I purchased online: The Cypress House by Michael Koryta, My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem, Manifesta by Baumgardner/Richards and Emma Who Saved My Life and Gospel by Wilton Barnhardt. (I've read his book Show World at least three times. He's a professor in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program at North Carolina State University.)

Not sure if I am putting this in the right thread. I found on line, local buy and sell site, a hardcover copy of a SK 3 in 1 book , with Salems Lot/Carrie and The Shining in it. Excellent condition and a 1st edition. Might have paid too much ($10.00) but I wanted it. I'm pleased.

I think I have an extra copy of that one. I would've gladly sent it to you! But, yours is in better condition, so $10 was a good deal.

I think I have that copy of Carrie/The Shining/Salem's Lot too - Barnes & Noble had them about 10 years ago. I've lost my cover, but still have the red book.
I found 5 nice large crystal platters at my GW - serving platters. I so needed them.

Mine came without a cover. The book has silver around the pages and a red ribbon bookmark attached. The front of the book is gray, black, red and white. Very nice front cover, that is why I thought it didn't come with a book cover.
