Larry McMurtry is dead. The great american writer of the west. His Lonesome Dove is great but also Comanche Moon and the others in the LD siute are worth reading. I also really liked his novel Anything for Billy that was based on Billy the Kids life. He made the west real and dusted of the myth and heroism of it. His characters are real characters, much more threedimensional than, for example Louis Lamours are. Thank you for taking the west seriously. RIP, Larry!!

R.I.P, I was more of a Judy Blume fan, but Cleary's Mouse and the Motorcycle was a grade school favorite of mine. 104 is an impressive age to live to, at least, and she clearly lived the most of it.

R.I.P to the Rap Artist DMX He is dead at Age 50...He Just Went to Heaven this Mornning. I Just Sadden By The news That DMX Gone...I Grew Up Listening to alotta His Song an I Feel Like im Going Cry any Second.   I Know that even with His Past Mistakes an History he always Never Stopped belieiving in God so I think he is Up there with Him now an also His Special Friend Aaliyah too.

On the BBC news tonight, the entire half hour broadcast was dedicated to Prince Philip. I didn't know a lot about him and the news broadcast was very interesting as they showed film clips (and told stories) from all parts of his life.

RIP Michael Collins.
He was the pilot of Apollo 11 and did not walk on the moon. I was reading about him and came across this interesting quote:
In a July 2009 interview with The Guardian, Collins said that he was very worried about Armstrong and Aldrin's safety. He was also concerned in the event of their deaths on the Moon, he would be forced to return to Earth alone and, as the mission's sole survivor, be regarded as "a marked man for life"
Until I read that, I had never really thought about what the pilot might be thinking on a mission like that. That would be terrible having to return alone.
