Last week I got to see "Bohemian Rhapsody" all the way through and uninterrupted. Great movie! Rami Malik is a great actor, really loved him as Freddie. Truly enjoyed everything about this movie.
I saw "Rocketman" quite some time ago, it was very good!...and Tamron?...whoever...was really excellent as Elton John. It was much more of a musical. I did not expect that at all. That actor did really good work with the singing. Something he should be VERY proud of. But, I'm sorry...he just can't meet Elton's tremendous voice.

I liked Rocketman. Bohemain Rhapsody though, that movie was embarrassingly bad. Not to dampen your enjoyment, but, I would say it was a pretty offensive depiction of Queen (also treated Queen as Freddie Mercury, the band). Handled Freddie's sexuality terribly too, which is kinda a big part of why he was so influential and so favored today as being one of the first big openly gay celebrities, especially in the music industry. Also, the editing on that film was quite possibly the worst editing I have ever seen in a big budget motion picture. Now, I'm sounding like those old guys on the muppets who complain about everything, which I don't mean to come off as assholish. Just speaking train of thought. Rocketman was like what Bohemian Rhapsody should've been, imo. The musical scenes were imaginative, I think it handled Elton as a person pretty well too. I also like Elton John a lot more than I do Queen, which might have influenced my opinion on the movie some. Goodbye Yellow brick Road is a great album.

I liked Bohemian Rhapsody but one thing that bothered me was many events were out of sequence to when they happened in real life. I couldn't see a reason in the storytelling to do that. Some things were out of sequence in Rocketman too but I could see the reasons the filmmakers did that in Rocketman (it was a musical and certran songs worked better out of sequence). I thought Rami was great in Bohemian Rhapsody.
As for Freddie's sexuality, if I remember correctly, he wasn't openly gay until a few days before he died. Freddie never would say probably because it would have been such a big deal in the media in those days. It would not have been a big deal for the people that listened to his music.

We watched this one last night
Started slow and I almost fell asleep but it got a lot more interesting as it went along (kind of a weird movie)
I saw this one a few years ago and thought it was good. Interesting plot. There was even a spin-off TV show which Bradley Cooper produced and I believe had a cameo in. Its an interesting plot for a film, but the decision to turn it into a "franchise" of sorts was so odd. It doesn't really seem like an IP which could go in numerous directions.

Zappa (2020)
This Zappa Doc just showed up on Hulu. It's an outstanding documentary that does a good job informing both about both the man and the music.
.... I saw that blipverted. I'm going to get around to it. (Did you see "Jacko"? I'm pretty positive that was the name of it...been quite awhile since I saw that, it was good. )

The Lost Boys (1987): Local teenage boys vs Vampire Bikers. Loved this film, it was slow at first, but the final showdown was awesome and exactly what I want out of some 1980s kids vs monsters horror/comedy flick. Especially the vampire getting dunked in the bathtub of Holy water and onions, that was awesome. A
Millennium Actress (2001): Another film by the great Satoshi Kon, one of my favorite directors from non-primarily English speaking regions. Also one of the best animated directors ever. The film has a simple and down to earth premise, a retired actress turned hermit in her late 70s is interviewed one last time by a lifelong fan of hers about her career and life story. And I wish there were more animated films like this, set in reality (although as this film involves the film industry in itself there are a lot of fantastical segments in the world of the movies the titular character stars in). I love the various depictions of mid 20th century Japan in animated fashion, it's so beautiful in its mundanity. The story is great, for a film that really only has 3 main characters (The actress, the interviewer, and the at first uninterested cameraman intern), it manages to be full of life. The only critique I really have of this movie is that I feel like one long segment taking place in the characters imagination goes on 10 minutes too long and I would have preferred it to have taken place in the 'real' world. Other than that, great bittersweet film with great and inspired animation. A

Now you see me
Four street magicians, Daniel, Merritt, Henley and Jack, ransack a huge amount of money belonging to insurance baron Arthur Tressler while being chased by FBI agent Dylan and Interpol agent Alma.
Very funny and entertaining. Thriller/Heist genre combined with magicians tricks. It has a great cast and their acting was spot on.

Finally finished the trilogy.
War for the Planet of the Apes.
When a rogue army of humans kills Caesar's wife and son, he sets out to exact revenge. But his quest for retribution reveals his darker instincts even as he makes a startling discovery.
War for the Planet of the Apes has one of my favorite endings . The film kept all the action to the end and keeps you in suspense The whole trilogy is just excellent.

Spontaneous (2020) Charlie Plummer, Katherine Langford
I thought this was very good. This movie mixes horror, comedy and drama in a high school setting where students are mysteriously dying from spontaneous combustion.
I think the story is a metaphor for school shootings but it could also be interpreted as a metaphor for teen suicide or other high school related tragedies and maybe even covid. It can be very funny but there is a dark message in there.

I recently watched a true crime drama called Ann Rule's A House on Fire. It's based on a book by Ann Rule called Bitter Harvest which is about a crime where a woman burned her house. I thought it was good, but it took liberties based on what was shown in different documentaries about the events.
